Very good small town feel bar. But I would never call this a sports bar. Only a few TV’s with 2 in odd hard to see spots. Bartenders, although not skilled for quality craft cocktails, are exceptionally efficient and friendly. The food, while not amazing, is very good. The 8oz tenderloin is a great deal. Burgers, wraps and sandwiches are very good. The pizza used to be great, but something changed and is now just ok. Weekend breakfast is excellent. If you’re in Sussex looking for breakfast, this is the place. Bathroom is clean with ample facilities. Some I know have had poor experiences in the dining room. I have not. Service in the dining room has always been just as good as at the bar. Overall this place has a divey feel, but it is clean. There are 2 pool tables, but look out for the Sussex billiard bullies. On several occasions my girlfriend and I attempted to play; but several guys scolded us indicating the table belonged to them. If we played, we would have to play them at our cost. Is this a Sussex thing? Wouldn’t the owners of this establishment want as much money pumping through these tables as possible? Well, the table sat unused the entire time we were there both instances while these guys sat nearby. No one dared use them.

Went for Sunday dinner. Only four others in dining room but waited at least 10 minutes for waitress to acknowledge our presence. Even if you can’t deliver water and menus right away at least a «Hi! I’ll get to you as soon as I can» would be nice. To be fair, she may have been the only waitress working in both the dining room and bar that night. The hand-breading on my chicken dinner was light and tasty but the chicken underneath it had a tough, unpleasant texture and an «off» taste. I offered a piece to hubby. He took one bite and wouldn’t eat the rest. Hubby’s turkey wrap tasted like it was made with cheap deli meat and served very cold. It’s a shame because the location is handy with ample parking and the dining room is attractive with a «north-woods-cabin» homey feel to it.

We went to Tailgators for breakfast on Sunday, August 2nd. We were told to sit wherever we wanted. We got our beverages soon. However it took a while before the waitress returned to take our order. Our view of the outside deck revealed some folks who looked like they hadn’t left from the night before! They had cocktails in hand at 9:00AM and were smoking up a storm. Oh well. It appeared that there was only one waitress and she was doing the best she. could by herself. It took a long time to get our food and this seemed to be the chef’s doing as the food was warm when finally delivered. However, the waitress never apologized for our wait or explained why it was taking so long. I was surprised that the bar was crowded on a Sunday morning at 9:30AM.

Love it! Great bartenders during lunch. Best bar good I’ve had in a long time. Menu has plenty of options and everything I have had has been delicious. 3 lunch visits in 2 weeks!

Been here numerous times. Steaks are always very good. I especially love the tenderloin steak sandwich. Pizza is also very good. Service has been spotty lately due to new staff but that is understandable. Actually had a great breakfast their as well.

Decent pub grub. Some shady characters usually hanging out playing pool but decent prices on beer and food. I had the lobster mac n cheese. It was pretty darn good. A huge portion, creamy, plenty of lobster chunks. I took half of it home. My husband had the Tailgator sandwich which is blackened gator on a bun(not a po’ boy like we were hoping) with Cajun mayo and Cajun fries. It was also good. The gator was flavorful and moist. Our friend ordered the mozarella logs for an appetizer. They were huge and there were five of them. All around, decent.

Eh… Not impressed. Long wait on a Monday night. Was told the chef assistant called in sick. Don’t really care manage it. Breaded mushrooms were like little rocks. Cheeseburger was just ok. Not a ton of flavor. I’d pass next time. Sussex needs some better options.
