Overall 1 star. Went hear a year ago and had good food and an awesome Blood Mary. Hand made, good toppings. Went again yesterday, really looking forward to the Bloody Mary. As I watched the bartender make it, it looked awful. No toppings. Looked«mushy». When I tried it, I couldn’t even drink it. Horrible. The waitress told me that the owner wanted to save money and that’s why they didn’t buy the Bloody Mary Mix. Just straight tomato juice. At that point I was ready to leave. Didn’t even bother buying food. Won’t be back.

I think this is the first bad review I have ever left on Unilocal.I really don’t like to focus on the negative, but I felt like I had to share my experience here. My husband and I came here for dinner and were very disappointed. The steak I ordered medium was very rare, and my husband’s salmon was rubbery. The service was slow, and the ambiance was definitely lacking. To be honest, I felt a little uncomfortable the entire time. It was not a welcoming environment. We wish we had decided to have dinner at Hotel Sutter instead. We will not be coming back.

Server was great. Food was OK. Accommodating, I asked for lots of FEET in my Calamari Friti and 80% feet. They tickle going down.

This is our go to restaurant and we dine here often. Location is perfect, décor is very nice and there is an inviting and pleasant atmosphere. The Bella Rosa shrimp appetizer(I order it as a meal) is to die for. I always bring home the leftover juice to add to noodles or just soak up with some sourdough. I’ve eaten many other items also and have never once been disappointed — excellent food really. We’ve actually been eating at this location throughout the several changes of ownership and I have to say the food and menu have always been consistently good. I’m a very picky customer and will only eat at restaurants with good service, good atmosphere, and great food and reasonable prices. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed(unless it’s an off night and there are service issues — which I’ve only experienced once in 5 years). Oh yes and the bathrooms are always very clean. We love to order our dinner at the bar if there are a couple of empty seats. If you’ve never eaten here you will be more pleased with your overall experience over the Sutter Hotel across the street… for sure.

Im not sure how to feel about this place… I ate at Bella Rosa in Jackson(the Italian one on main st.) DELICIOUSRAVIOLIS. I would drive 30 minutes for them. They closed down and opened a sports bar near Jack in the Box. Anyways, we sit down and I was not terribly hungry so i looked for desserts and couldn’t find any. I decided on mozzarella sticks. It took a while for anyone to take our drink order, but she was very nice. The food was pretty standard Italian fare, but pricey. They wanted $ 15 for the raviolis! Im pretty sure they charge this much because of their location in downtown Sutter Creek. The inside is warm and relaxing. Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiits okay if you want to relax and spend money, but we were there with the kids lol.

My hubby and went here to celebrate our anniversary. We are staying at a B & B. The meals were fantastic! He ordered a gorgonzola cream pasta dish that was amazing and I had a spinach salad with a cream prawn appetizer. Would definately recommend this place! Staff was great and very hospitable!

The wife & I decided to have dinner here recently. We’d been here once before a year or so ago and nothing stuck out in my mind, good or bad. Atmosphere — Anywhere in the restaurant seemed too close to the bar and loud bar conversations. Not a horrible thing but not my ideal. Other than that it was clean and pleasant. We started off with the minestrone. It was fair to good but really not outstanding. I had salmon and the wife ordered chicken. The salmon was pretty good and the lemon dill sauce was okay. I’d ordered mine with wild rice on the side. I didn’t see any wild rice but the pilaf was okay. The chicken was good as was the mushroom sauce. We had a bottle of local wine with our meal. It may have been the most enjoyable part of the evening but was not the best representative of the variety that I’ve tasted. For dessert we had coffee and shared a peach cobbler with ice cream. The coffee was not very good — fairly stale and probably something fairly generic to begin with. The cobbler was truly bad but the ice cream was actually quite good. Service was good but not exceptional. We never really had inordinate waits but business was pretty slow. Considering the price, the overall experience was fair but no better.

Pretty good food and friendly service. If your starving you might want to order an appetizer and salad/soup as the portion size is on the smaller side. But I’m a big guy. For the average person it’s probably adequate.

We have eaten here many times and are always thrilled with service and food. Recently my sister and I took my niece for her 15th birthday, she ordered the spicy mussels for her meal and they were out of this world! While on the spicy side, they would be great as an appetizer for a small group maybe not a meal to yourself. If you like spice, these are a must try! We will keep coming back for more!

The food is really good, the bar is huge and fun, there’s even trivia happening most Wednesday nights starting around 6 pm. So far so good, right? But here’s the downside: the room is just dismal. The lighting is all wrong, the tables seem almost haphazardly placed, the wall décor defines«meh»(except for the big hokey Sutter Creek mural). Main Street Sutter Creek offers only three white-tablecloth dinner choices: Bella Rosa, Hotel Sutter, and Element. So you might as well give Bella Rosa a try. Once you’re there the best thing on the menu is the salmon with dill sauce, served with rice and vegetables. And they have several local wines on the menu. Shannon’s a terrific server and Casey at the bar is growing into her job nicely. I’ll be back. But then, I live in Sutter Creek. January 2016UPDATE: No trivia anymore. No dinner service anymore at Element. Casey is long gone. Story is now the bartender and she’s much more professional and smart.

I was hesitant initially to eat at this establishment. My wife, however, wanted to give them a shot. My biggest hesitation was how many times this same location has changed names(or owners/chefs). Café Via De Oro, was a favorite years ago. It changed to JDs Steakhouse, and finally, Bella Rosa II. Okay, now to the disappointment-the food. I ordered the club sandwich, and the wife, a burger. My wife was satisfied with the burger. No wow factor. The club, was disgusting. Stale bread, and bad aftertaste. I could make a better sandwich at home. The ambiance was also very drab, and depressing. They haven’t made changes(remodeling), it looked the same(minus some pictures removed from the walls, with nails still in place). I kept smelling old towel smell. I was unsure if the tables or menus were wiped with dirty/or soiled towels. The service was okay. Similar to other establishments. Nothing impressive-satisfactory. Overall, I recommend other options in Sutter Creek: Pizza Plus/or Hotel Sutter. More bang for the buck-and the food actually tastes good.

We really like the food here and used to eat here often… but now I will never return. The server(or maybe the manager) added an extra tip to the final bill and charged our credit card more than what my signed receipt said. I left a generous tip so I’m not sure why they thought they should add more. I asked the owner to contact me to discuss it but I NEVER heard from anyone. Hope it was worth losing business from a bunch of locals!

We recently went to see Daffodil Hill, and afterwards we came to Sutter Creek for lunch. Our first choice was the Hotel Sutter — we had eaten there before and liked it. When we got there(around 2pm) the wait was around 20 minutes, so we decided to walk around instead, and found the Bella Rosa II across the street. We were seated right away after a minute or so wait at the hostess station. I ordered the Bleu Cheese burger, and my wife ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp. Both were very delicious, and we won’t hesitate recommending Bella Rosa II for lunch.

The food was very good. One got the ravioli, another the buffalo chicken wrap and I got the chicken salad sandwich. Everything was good except I would have gotten a different bread for the sandwich. The ravioli sauce is to die for. The service was very much lacking. Waited for more water that never came and she never checked on us.

Beautiful setting. No hesitation in being seated. Casual and comfortable environment. Tried the prosciutto n peach salad. The peaches were fresh and warm bc they were blanched to have the skin removed. There was plenty of prosciutto and peaches. Nice environment. …will be back as prices were reasonable too

I was here with my friend and his Wife. We walked from the Days Inn into town and it was a toss up between places to eat. Neither one of them were inexpensive, so, we opted for Bella. The environment looked nice and it was hopping busy! We walked in and immediately were greeted by no one. We could see that it was busy and there was not one employee who was sitting idle. So, we waited about four minutes before someone acknowledged us. Bob looked up from the table he was setting and said that he would be right with us. After about 30 seconds, he did come by and first asked if we had reservations. Unfortunately, we didn’t. But, he did his best to find a table for us. It did take about five more minutes, but he did. We were not treated any differently because of the lack of a reservation, in fact, we were told that they were sorry, everyone came in at one time! I’m glad we had patience and waited. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs with a nice gin martini. The waitress that took our order was nice, polite and honest. She even stated that if something wasn’t so good, she’d let us know before we ordered it. I like that. The martinis came out first and were half way decent. A bit small for $ 7, but it’s a tourist town and after a day’s worth of wine tasting in the Eldorado hills, I suppose I didn’t need an extra large martini. But, I wouldn’t have argued if one presented itself in front of me! Yes, it came with two large green olives. An interesting twist would have been to use Olives stuffed with bleu cheese or Maytag bleu cheese. The food came out within a reasonable period of time. I was pleased. The was an ample amount in my plate and two large meatballs on top. My dish was $ 12.95. No additional grated parmesan was offered. The food could have been served hotter. Strangely enough, all of our dish bottoms was HOT and the food was warm to nearly warm enough. But, the food was tasty. Interesting question. The menu, regarding my spaghetti and meatballs stated that the sauce was supposed to be a marinara sauce. Yet, when I received my food, I would swear it was a meat sauce! We did, in fact, order a dessert. One dessert between all of us. A slice of lemon cake and a scoop(large) of ice cream. The cake was good. It was fresh and a decent size portion to satisfy three people. It was a nice finish to the entire day. After payment was complete and we had walked outside, Bob, the gentleman who seated us, came outside and thanked us personally as well as offered his apologies for the restaurant being so crowded. We thanked him and I did state that I was going to write a review in Unilocal, which this is! — — — — – The bottom line — — — — – Yes, I would eat here again.

We happened to stop in on their second day of being open! I was really surprised how well put together they were for being such a new establishment. I loved the décor, very country themed and fitting for the area. The bar tending gentleman was very nice and attentive. The young girl hostess was a tad scatter-brained and seemed uncomfortable performing her job. As for the food — I ordered bruschetta but it was way too heavy on the balsamic which made the toasts very soggy and very unappetizing. I would recommend getting the balsamic on the side to ensure a good experience. My mom and husband both got fish and chips and they were blown away by the portion size. They struggled to finish the entire plate because they were given so much!(not that it’s a bad thing). My dad ordered a sandwich and was unhappy with the small amounts of bacon that were to be on this bacon sandwich. Their prices were very affordable which definitely helps their ratings. Overall, I would give them another chance since they are still new and working out the kinks. The food wasn’t necessarily bad, just needs a bit of re-wiring. They have cold beer, TV’s, affordable prices, and a decent menu — they will do well.
