Lovely ambiance in the outdoor patio for a summer afternoon trip to gold country. The food was high quality and flavorful. Priced more in $$$ range. We had excellent service and they were very accommodating to my gluten free diet.

Great news this lady took the hint and is closed. Her last words to me were my review cant hurt her 4.5 star rating. A month later shes closed! She treated us horribly. She was out of touch there as well, she was barely a 4 Star. Im glad Unilocalers and her community spoke abd shes gone.

We have been visiting Susan’s Place for years after reading peoples rave reviews in the journals at the Sutter Creek Inn for years. I wish we would have tried it sooner! What an awesome restaurant. The food is excellent, the restaurant itself is adorable and Susan is the best! Last weekend, after looking forward to the«Mystery Wine» and one of her amazing entres, we found the SHERETIREDANDCLOSEDTHERESTAURANT! We were so disappointed, but so very happy for Susan. Enjoy your retirement! We’ll miss you!

The most amazing food and service. When ever we can get away from the kids for a night this is the place we always go, wonderful atmosphere, terrific food and great vibe. The short ribs are nothing«short» of amazing.

We ended up here because Bella Rosa didnt have room for a party of 6. Glad it ended up that way because we hsd a great experience at Susan’s. The bread and herbed dipping oil was a great starter. Then a fresh mixed green salad or cream of asparagus soup, both very delicious. I had meatloaf served with a rosemary polenta and zucchini. The meatloaf was so flavorful with fresh herbs and a sharp tomato sauce. Enchanting, yet casual garden feeling throughout. I’m so glad Bella Rosa didn’t have room for us.

We went for lunch… The good– Located in the heart of historic downtown and walking distance to all the shops. Great seating that feels outdoors The bad– The food was a big disappointment, especially for the price. I ordered the clam appetizer and it was incredibly bland. My husband had a special melon salad and the ingredients were oddly paired and bland as well. Service was fine. Local wines are offered When the bill came we were completely unsatisfied– definitely not worth the price.

This place is such a gem. Super cool outdoor seating. I’d say a little on the pricy side $ 33 for a decent wine. The cheese plate was simple but perfect $ 12. The lobster sandwich $ 14 on a croissant and the Greek salad with homemade dressing was super tasty and refreshing. I’d say if you go to Sutter Creek and want a nice lunch with your lady stop by. It’s mellow but inviting nothing fancy just a nice place for lunch. I enjoyed my stop and would return. Service was fast and friendly.

My mom & I were really looking forward to eating here for lunch… But then this quickly turned into the worst experience of my culinary life. Our waiter actually advised us that the dishes we ordered would not have onions(I have an allergy), and a half hour later no sight of waiter or the bread & dipping sauce everyone is raving about. The couple next to us had gotten their food already, so we asked another waiter about our food and he seemed to know what we were talking about… Which leads me to believe it was sitting out in kitchen for a while. When we got the food it was cold and full of onions. The worst part is, our waiter never came back from the initial order, and in fact I learned he had left the restaurant completely! Who leaves their shift after placing and order… Without even telling the guest or his fellow coworker! Food was flavorless and cold. We will never go back!

I am so disappointed. I was really looking forward to this restaurant as it was referred by our hotel. We made a reservation so we were immediately seated in the jungle room that was filled with fake green vegetation on the walls and ceiling. The red plastic checkered table cloth was interesting. We ordered appetizers. The caesar was extremely dry and the minestrone tasted canned but slightly doctored up by the cook. We ordered entrees. The braised lamb shank was smothered in a thick jelly paste that was supposed to be a raspberry sauce. We also ordered the pasta special. Not quite sure on the meat and flavor. The braised lamb was sent back as it was completely inedible. The waitress could care less and thought we were complainers. We do not complain and give every opportunity to let the restaurant make it right. The waitress had no knowledge of customer service or food. We were refunded one entrée. We just wanted to leave and never return. Not good… Sorry

Wow… this was good. They start you out with bread and«Susan’s Signature»(we found out) oil and garlic/herb dipping sauce. Very nice and enjoyed that. Had a nice Greek style roquefort salad — it was a great salad. For an entrée, I had shrimp with fettucine, wife had beef with vegetables. Prices were all about $ 21, which seemed fine. I’d go back again. Closed on Monday-Wednesday, so make plans.

Warm fish on very cold plate, asked about that, no solution, no interest, why would one return to such a place? No excuse for such incompetence, they were asked, never much interested in fixing it, no wonder the place was near totally empty on a Saturday evening.

My husband and I had not been here in probably 10+ years. We decided since we had bad service from another local restaurant, we would give this place a try again. Well that was a blessing in disguise! Came here and the host immediately welcomed us, we were seated immediately, and had water in our hands very quickly. The bread and garlic dipping sauce was delicious! I had the Mediterranean Pulled Pork, which was incredible, my husband had an unusual choice of Greek Style Meatloaf, which he loved. Service was fantastic, and all the staff we saw were young people, which was impressive! We will be back for sure!

We were looking forward to our evening at Susan’s Place. Lots of good Unilocal reviews. Unfortunately, it was a BIG disappointment! We’ve traveled a good deal and have enjoyed lots of Mediterranean food so it’s not like we don’t know the flavor profile. The first clue that something was off was the garlic dipping sauce for the bread. There was a weird sweetness to it making it a poor match for the salad. Then came the entrees. Partner ordered the lamb shank and I had the calamari steak over pasta. Both dishes suffered from the same weird sweetness! When our server asked how we were enjoying our food I commented on the sweetness. I was told that the chef used HONEY in the sauce.(Also apparently in the garlic dipping sauce and the sauce for the lamb!). It was not as if there was a subtle undertone of sweetness. Both dishes were downright SWEET and unpleasant. Since this was our only visit to Susan’s I don’t know if this is how dishes are normally prepared or if this was just an off night. We won’t be coming back to find out.

Under a canopy of trellises and greenery lies a pot of gold. This is one of the best restaurants in the Mother Lode! The food is always delicious and unique. They offer seasonal specials and creative options for personalizing your dining choices. Local wines are highlighted for tasting and pairing with the food. The service is friendly and professional! Oh and the lush green eclectic setting provides a intimate atmosphere that should not be missed! Try it.

My husband and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. We were eating dinner with our 2 year old. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Kids eat free too which is always a bonus! We highly recommend the lamb! It was delicious! The wine mystery sampler was an interesting touch. Thanks for a wonderful night.

It’s been a decade since our first visit. Still love it. Today we enjoyed mussels for our appetizer. Following our wonderful salads, our dinners arrived. My wife had grilled salmon, and I had lamb shanks, with the house Pinot Noir. Everything was delicious. Can’t wait to return to the Gold Country.

Our friends recommended this hidden place at Sutter Creek. We are very pleased that we stopped for lunch at this cute little town. Food is delicious and perfect portion for lunch. They even took care of my 2 little boys(kids eat for free). Very nice surprised! We can totally see us coming back next time we visit gold country. We will make reservation for dinner, so we give a try at their wine tasting sections.

Quaint has been used 36 times to describe Susan’s on this Unilocal review page and that is sure what it is. However, I would use«Draconian» to describe the place No Cell Phones No Split Checks No Splitting Dishes Susan’s Way No Laughing(jk) We got the Lobster Crostini for an appetizer, and it was pretty uneventful. Asparagus soup was mild, but kinda worked for me. I ordered the ½ Lamb Shank over Polenta. It was decent, but like the disclaimer writes, it is for light eaters. I wish there was more cranberry sauce over the lamb, but over all it was a decent dish. Again, the best part of the restaurant was all the décor and quaintness that was found inside the establishment.

We loved this hidden gem! We had been to Sutter Creek several times and never found the little side street/alleyway of Eureka off Main St. Eureka indeed! Worth the search, there is off street parking as well as the green oasis of Susan’s Place. We shared the Brie and garlic appetizer and the hearty meatloaf sandwich. Do have your own wine tasting flight to test if you know your varietals. Enjoy!
