This weekend was the second time I had the luck to visit 45th Parallel’s Candy World. I absolutely love the Vanilla Fudge with Sea Salt Caramel. It’s delish and like nothing I have had before(usually, I can only find dark or milk chocolate fudge with sea salt caramel.) There is a man in his late teens/early twenties that works here and is always so friendly when serving you, he really makes you feel like you in a candy shop in the 1950s. He really makes the experience!

Is it possible to give six stars? Northern Michigan is known for its fudge– the tourists are even affectionately termed«Fudgies», because they buy and eat so much of it. Typically our family will buy a half pound slab or two of Murdick’s Fudge, because it is everywhere up here in the Traverse Bay area. I am *devastated* that I wasted thirty-some-odd years of my life on such sub-par fudge. I had no idea. 45th Parallel’s Candy World( Unilocal administrators, please correct your spelling) is a tiny shop on the side of a restaurant, but it has a hundred years of memories inside. Everything from clove candy, bubble gum cigars, big league chew, sour pucker powder, and even a giant Sugar Daddy. But behind the case are around twenty flavors of truly decadent, top-quality, gourmet fudge. Flavors such as dark chocolate salted caramel, bubble gum, maple nut, and peanut butter chocolate(complete with halved Reese’s cups on top) tease the eyes while making the salivary glands work overtime. Our family’s favorite is the dark chocolate salted caramel– the perfect amount of sea salt, and not at all bitter. Check the board outside for specials: today’s was«buy one pound, get ½ pound free». When you’re in the Suttons Bay/Leelanau area, bypass Dam Candy and Murdick’s and head STRAIGHT for Candy World!
