The chef wrote me personally to announce that Café Gourmandise is now closed. So sorry to see you go as I surely loved the desserts!!! I pray that we will see you again soon. *One star is not a representative of the restaurant’s food. This is simply to let reviewers know the restaurant has closed.

If you, like I, might spend an occasional weekend morning driving around Johns Creek and perhaps sitting in on a seminar at a cult’s… that is, a financial services organization’s headquarters, trying your best not to be identified as a mole, then this review may be of some use to you. There I was, listening to pod people tell a chamber packed with wide-eyed future initiates about a great opportunity to take charge of their lives and become financially secure. And who could resist such a cogent and well-researched presentation(Sarcasm, you say? Moi?)? Me not no ekonnomee be so bad. Feeling adequately uneasy, and more than a little hungry, by the time they were about to start the walk across hot coals, and fearing the humiliation of a lack of faith leading to burnt feet, I sneaked out of the compound and then hopped on Unilocal to search for decent grub in the area. Café Gourmandises caught my eye, so I headed east to Suwanee. But on my way, something changed in me… I saw the luxury cars, the immense homes, a fitness club so huge it might have recently become its own incorporated city in north Fulton. And then, I started reflecting upon my life. Heavens to Murgatroyd! What have I been doing with my life? Why do I not drive a Lotus? Why is my house not faced with hand-cut Italian limestone? Why do I scoop my own cats’ litter boxes? Why do I work more than 3 days per week? I must have blacked out briefly, but when I came to, I was running from persons unseen, and I was carrying a young Korean child in my arms. I shoved her into my car and continued toward the restaurant. I was in panic mode, but I didn’t want Yoon-Ji to see my fear. I just kept smiling, to avoid giving her the impression that anything was amiss. It’s what any responsible parent would do, right? On the way to the bistro, I decided there was no time like the present to start being a great father; that I should enroll her in some music lessons and then we checked out a few private tutoring services(of which there are dozens in the area). No child of mine will spend only 10 hours per day in her studies, that’s for certain. Our final stop before the café would be Kumon, as it’s in the same retail strip, but after explaining to Yoon-Ji the importance of keeping one’s small community of gifted people separate from the larger, more diverse community, I looked over and realized that she was missing. Egads! Please don’t judge me, folks. I’m new at this child-rearing thing. I decided that, perhaps, I am not yet suited to be a parent. Baby steps… For now, I thought, let’s just stick to enjoying great food. And so, I continued to Café Gourmandises, confident that Yoon-Ji would find a better father on her own. I was greeted by a friendly Moroccan woman who showed me les spécialités du jour, which all sounded tasty. I spent a while reviewing the menu(trying in vain to ignore the case of desserts to my left). The place is very simple and small. According to the stickers on the door, people love them on Unilocal.OK… Add me to that list. I’m not one to grant five stars after a single visit, but Café Gourmandises could easily sway me. I tried the Croque Gourmanidises(a delicious variation on the croque madame that includes prosciutto, gruyère and crème fraîche), the Chicken Délice(a crêpe filled with juicy, perfectly seasoned grilled chicken), some version of stuffed grape leaves(as far as I can tell, most similar to Greek dolmathes, except that the filling seemed more processed and these had no meat inside), a cup of vegetable soup, and a salad topped with homemade red wine paprika dressing. Even before moving on to dessert, this meal was near-perfect. Heck, the iced tea was awesome, too. Standing before the display of sweet offerings following the meal, a multiracial chorus of macarons began singing«Alouette» to me. The pink one stepped closer to the glass and beckoned, «Please, taste me…» But despite her plea and Chef Christophe’s assurance that his macarons are beyond compare, he did a better job of persuading me to try the Royal, a layered chocolate delicacy that is decadent without being too sweet or sickening. Et les macarons? Oh oui, mes amis, je reviendrai. Bien sur. I bought an almond croissant to go, and indulged the next morning for breakfast. Going all out for lunch, with dessert and tip, expect to spend about $ 14 – 18 per person. I may not continue along the path promised to me by the cult… I mean MLM scheme… ahem… I mean the financial services organization, but I can head northward once every month or so to indulge in this bistro’s cuisine française exceptionnelle. Overall, 8⁄10(expect 5 stars if a second visit proves as satisfying).

It’s more of a 3.5 than a 4. This is a good lunch spot. Their daily lunch special keeps things fresh with a different dish everyday plus their pastries are great. I will say that their portion is a bit on the small side for me resulting in me indulging in a pastry. Otherwise it’s good food with friendly service. I would caution you that if they are catering an event that day they might be closed. I need to go back and try their other dishes to write a more complete review.

I was on my way to my 5 yo nephews tball game when I started getting hangry for dinner. I checked the Unilocal app to see what decently priced place was close and had tasty food. This joint looked good so I called in my order ahead of time so it would be ready for me. I went with the grilled tilapia on a baguette and a side of soup(tomato lentil). I had to wait a minute or 2 when I got there so I picked out a pastry from the case. It was a hard choice due to the loads of scrumptious(that’s right, I said it) looking pastries. I went with the peach crumb; when in doubt pick fruit, it’s healthier. haha. Anyhoo, the food was ready quickly. I downed it when I got to the ball park. I think the soup and sandwich were around $ 10 or so. Shit was tasty and HUGE. The tomatoes weren’t at their top game, but the aioli on the sandwich, as well as the tilapia was delicious. The soup was good too– interesting spices used, smoked cumin maybe. I held off on the peach crumb until the following evening. It was excellent. I can’t say I would trek out to Suwanee from Cabbagetown just to eat here, but if I have another tball game to attend I would definitely stop by.

Nice little spot. Try the Kobe burger. Simple spot with good food… A little pricey for what is provided but food was good.

Best Macaroon in Georgia in my opinion. This place kicks Joli Kobe’s butt when it comes to Macaroon and I love Joli Kobe. Yes, the place is bare and not decorated or anything but who cares? The food and service is impeccable. The chef is a very passionate guy. He has daily specials that actually changes everyday(I used to work at a restaurant that never changed their daily special) and updates on website every morning. There are at least 5 different kinds of home made dressing, variety of sauces he uses(aioli sauce, fresh pesto…) in sandwiches are amazing. I had Just Veggie Sandwich and it was phenomenal. My dressing had aioli sauce. They had at least 5 different kinds of home made dressing which is nice too. It is a little more pricier than your average café meal but you will not be disappointed at all.

Chef Christophe is phenomenal! He is always friendly and greets everyone with a smile. I love their grilled chicken or tilapia sandwich. Their specials are amazing too! Definitely get on the emailing list so you know their specials for the day. Don’t leave the place without trying their desserts. Even if I don’t eat a meal there, I always go in for desserts. My favorites are the lemon meringue, pleasure, and the macarons. His blueberry crepes are great too!

I went in expecting not to like this as much as I did. I am normally not in love with French cuisine. However, the chef here made amazing food at an affordable price. On top of that everyone on the staff was very nice. I will be back frequently. So far I highly recommend the either the french fit Tilapia or chicken pesto crêpe. It’s a wonder full sweet. savory dish accompanied by soup and salad. I love this place.

Disclaimer: This is a French Bistro, not a Waffle House so their sweet tea is not as sweet… please ask for extra sugar if you want your tea the«Georgian» way. Dearest all vegan, vegetarian and carnivores: THISPLACEISYOURHEAVEN I have a weird affinity toward french cuisine because Vietnamese cuisine is heavily influence by French cuisine… whatever the reason may be this is one of my favorite french bistro. They have an extensive list of sandwiches, chocolate, salad, French appetizer such as wrap grape leaves and escargot, and homemade pastry. Everything that they offer are homemade from the salad dressing down to the beautiful handcrafted dessert. I love 95% of everything that I order here except for their soup which are very light in both flavor and texture… I understand that this is a «French» thing so I will not hold them against it. A few thing that I love about this place beside their food is the consistency of their food and services. This may sound a little corny but every time I take a bite of my sandwich I feel that the person that prepare the sandwich put a lot of thought and effort into it… it’s a weird feeling that I cannot explain I guess you have to give this place a try :) Must try: Gourmet Veggie Sandwich: Red/green bell pepper, caramelize onion, tomato, artichoke, avocado, corn, lettuce pesto and red aioli Tilapia Sandwich: Marinated tilapia with caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce, pesto and green aioli Pear Tart Enjoy :)

A classic french meal, with beautiful pastries to boot. This place ranks very high on the lunch circuit with my group. Everything here is excellent– salads, home-made dressings, burger, soups, specials, etc. I stick with their berry salad which tastes like everything was picked just for me. I’ve also had their Kobe burger. I wasn’t a huge fan of the meat itself, but the bread it was served on was incredible. Also the fries, that are served with aioli, are an excellent accompaniment. Friends have had the other items on the menu and I haven’t heard many complaints. I need to try their soups at some point. I bought some pastries to take home and they are just as delicious as they look. Highly recommend the lemon meringue. My co-worker keeps telling me about a chocolate-cinnamon bread they have which I am dying to try! You can sign up for their e-mail list, and they send an email every day with specials. Since their specials do change DAILY I find this really helpful. They have a great outdoor seating area which is a good escape from the cube for an hour. The style of this place is a café: it’s casual. Perfect for lunches. You order your meal at the register, pay, and then they deliver your the food to the table. Don’t forget to pick up utensils and napkins to the right of the register. We’ll keep coming back once every 2 weeks or so!

I was really looking forward to finding a new gem in the area, but this was a big disappointment. Ordered Sweet Tea Quiche Lorraine w/soup and salad Special– rib eye w/soup First, the sweet tea was not sweet at all. I added 2 packs of sweet and low(I hate to have to do that– it’s not right!) Quiche Lorraine was ok Salad was good– their homemade dressing was tasty Soup– the soup of the day was good. The first 5 tastes were not good– I didn’t want to continue but I kept stirring the soup and toward the bottom of the cup, it was very tasty(though I don’t recall what it was and I’ve never tasted soup like that before). My fiancé’s rib eye was not good. He said it was the worst he ever had. I tasted it and it was chewy and burnt tasting(that was actually what I was going to say but he said it first). I know the owner/chef was there but since he didn’t bring out our meal, I’m assuming someone else made it. We didn’t stay for dessert. This place is pretty pricey for lunch. I only saw 1 loaf of bread. The desserts looked good but overall, the lunch was just not worth staying for more. I would possibly consider going here again but I would only order the soup/salad and maybe try their coffee. The menu is pretty long so I’m not sure what would be the right choice otherwise. The atmosphere is ok– maybe they should replaced the florescent lights with something softer and cozy.

I love almost everything that I’ve eaten here: always delicious, always hot and soooo fresh. I love the chefs and(nearly) everything that they make. I’ve been on their email list for a while now and get the daliy specials every morning in my Inbox… and on Facebook… so I think about eating there more often than most places in my area. They do a great job on daily marketing — truly fantastic!!! At least once a week, I see French Onion Soup as their soup du jour. My best friend loves French Onion Soup so we dragged ourselves out of the house one lazy afternoon and went out for soup and a Croque. Imagine our suprise when we found out(the hard way) that their French Onion Soup is a delicious yet very simple broth —but it’s NOT prepared with croûton and cheese!!! We were so disappointed! If I’d only known… I would have gotten the Kobe Burger or the Shaved Lamb sandwich — they are amazing… I love the food but always feel awkward inside the restaurant …maybe it’s the lack of music or TVs, or maybe it’s the loud drone of the pastry coolers and the tapping of the chefs on their laptops, but I always feel like we should whisper and behave better… The food is a treat but the ambiance is awkward(at best) and for the price, it’s not worth it. Having been a server for too many years, I understand the importance of the guest being comfortable… maybe a personable server and some music is all they need to put them over the top.

In a strip mall below street-level; hard to find but worth the effort. Wonderful, authentic french meals and pastries. If you’ve never tried escargot, try them here. Don’t miss the macaroons for dessert!

I came here after reading the rave reviews and looked first at the blackboard of daily specials as advised. The special today was Creole Chicken Stew. Not feeling like eating New Orleans style food on a hot summer day, I was going to skip over it and get a cold sandwich until the owner recommended that I try the stew. «It’s like nothing you’ve ever tasted before, because it’s from the other side of the world!» he proclaimed with a smile. So I gave it a shot and ordered the stew along with a chocolate crème brûlée. OHMYGOD. It was indeed one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. The flavors were almost strangely Indian… yet there was this je né sais quoi that I can’t pinpoint that did make the dish scrumptiously French in the end. My crème brûlée was absolutely perfect, so rich and chocolatey yet not overwhelmingly rich. I had one of my friend’s macarons, which were not only adorable but so yummy as well. I love this place. No wonder it has the highest reviews in Suwanee. In a desert of chain restaurants, Gourmandises offers classic, good food with a flair. If you care about being in a swanky atmosphere, then Gourmandises is pretty bare bones. But as for the food — super bien!

We decided last minute to go here for a late lunch on Saturday. The café is located in a nondescript strip mall along Peachtree Industrial and has an outdoor patio. It was fairly busy and an interesting mix of people(soccer moms /a family of 4 /a group of kids hanging out eating/surfing the web /couple of guys in Karate outfits). The café isn’t fancy by any means, but simple, clean, and casual. I saw a review that mentioned plastic ware. They did have silverware during our visit. The staff were courteous and more then one person asked if our food was good. The sign on the front door advertises free internet, but there is a password required. I didn’t ask for it, and didn’t see it posted anywhere. We ordered«cold sandwiches»(they have hot items, and salads as well), the Parisian Ham Sandwich on baguette with Green Salad and Turkey Delicious on Croissant with Pasta Salad. The portions were good, but we still made room for some dessert. We had the«pleasure» and a flourless chocolate dessert(I don’t recall the name). The desserts and sandwiches were good. We’ll be back. We noticed there was escargots on the menu. We may have to try that on a future visit.

On Wednesdays, I work from home and I’ve gotten into the habit of going out to lunch so I can Unilocal some new places. However, I’ve tried most of the places that interest me and are near enough to go for lunch. So today, I decided to go out for an early dinner at Café Gourmandises after work instead. I found this little café on Unilocal, and when I finally visited it, I realized I’ve driven past it countless times over the years and never noticed it. It’s located in a small strip mall that’s easy to overlook. Since it was around 5 on a Wednesday, no one was in there when I arrived. I ordered the Kobe Burger, with the soup and salad as a side. I really like the fact that they offer the option of soup and salad instead of fries with their sandwiches. The soup today was a white bean soup, and it looked bland and simple in its little cup, so I was surprised at how delicious it turned out to be. Actually, that was sort of the theme of my entire meal. When I first tried my salad, I wasn’t too impressed. But then with each bite, I noticed more and more how screamingly fresh the greens were, and how well the delicate flavor of the lemon Provence dressing I had ordered complemented them. I had a similar experience with the Kobe burger. In contrast to the beef I’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants, this beef was barely seasoned at all. But after a bite or two, I realized that it really didn’t need to be. It was delicious enough without much extra seasoning, and it was offset by the crunchy greens, caramelized onions, creamy dressing, and bleu cheese. Also, the Kobe burger was so big that I could only eat half of it. Mmmm, more yumminess for lunch tomorrow! I asked for a box, and the chef-owner told me that lots of men can’t finish either, which is the way he likes it. I just loved that guy. While I was eating, he came out and asked me how I was doing. He was sweet and friendly and had the most awesome French accent. I can’t believe how many times I unknowingly drove by this sweet little café! I’m glad to know it’s there now. I was pleased with my experience and would definitely visit again in the future.

Best French food I’ve ever had in the ATL. Hidden in the sprawling suburban Suwanee, GA, complete with a French owner with an authentically wonderful French accent! The Kobe beef sandwich was possibly the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my entire life… caramelized onions, bacon, kobe beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and other sauces served on the loveliest softest baguette. The french fries we got with the sandwich were also great, seasoned nicely and served with aioli sauce, not ketchup. My friends opted for the soup and salad and the soup of the day was a lobster bisque which they seemed to enjoy. Another friend who got the marinate lamb sandwich also looked like he was in heaven with every bite. It was so good we all sat there silently chewing for about 10 minutes. The place is pricy for being a café, but since you don’t need to tip and you get quite a lot of food, I can’t complain. It also got a bit heavy after a while so I do feel it would fill you up quite nicely. My friend and I split the kobe sandwich and it was just the perfect amount for us. I also had to try the macarons even though I was stuffed, and they were as good as the macarons I had in Paris from the original shop. The owner promised me they would be and they were! The other baked goods looked lovely as well. Definitely dragging family members and other friends here with my next paycheck :)

I try at every cost not to venture OTP. I am definitely an ITP snob and find this the only completely justified form of snobbery. However, in light of the fact my parents live OTP I am periodically forced outside the border(cringe in fear). I planned to take my parents out to lunch and was convinced I would not longer suffer through a barrage of chain restaurants that had become the norm for my visits. Unilocal to the rescue. After a little research I found what sounded like a great little French café a short drive my parents’ house. I wasn’t disappointed. You order at the counter and the menu has all kinds of yummy goodness listed on it. My father selected the special of the day, seafood lasagna. My mom went with the corned beef and I went with the veggie gourmet salad. I noticed in other reviews notes about the staff not being friendly. I didn’t notice that at all and actually found all that I interacted with warm and inviting. We waited about 15 minutes and our food arrived. My salad was delish and the tomatoes, artichokes, and avocado were all super fresh. My mom seemed to like her sandwich well enough, and my dad continued to compliment the good food he consumed the rest of the afternoon. What really stood out were the diverse and heavenly looking pastries at the counter. My parents got a peach and an apricot tart and they both looked and smelled out of this world. Definitely a good spot to try out if you’re looking for something different that is not just another chain restaurant.

I think unless I wanna splurge on French food, I will most def not be coming back. The woman behind the counter was very helpful and nice. We got the kobe burger and the quiche of the day plus a sampling of the macaroons with 2 drinks. $ 35!!! O_O I’d rather have gone to Joli Kobe. The Kobe burger wasn’t as good as I thought it was gonna be(based on all the reviews) and my quiche was probably the best tasting thing we had there.
