UNSAT!!! My daughter broke her glasses 3month ago. So I contacted custom eyes and they advise my wife to bring it in for repair. Upon arrive they told us that it’s under warranty and it need to be sent out for repair. They again advise us it going to take 7 to 10 days. 10days elapse and no glasses. Every week we followed up with them and they keep telling us that it’s coming this week. Three month later we got new glasses from custom eyes. Horrible customer service. Not friendly for military family that have tri care. I do not recommend this place.

I have been going here for years and have great experience when it comes to my eye exams. Dr. Bona is fantastic. However, the front desk staff was less than helpful. They provided me wrong information regarding my insurance benefit. Part of my benefit is 2 pairs of glasses every 2 years, which I purchased one last year, they tried to tell me «You already used your benefit you would have to pay full price out of pocket» — when in fact they were the ones who explained to me my benefit last year, in which I could get my second pair after my eye exam(I had switched jobs and insurances in 2012).I just got off the phone with my insurance company who confirmed again, I am eligible for a second pair. It seems like they just wanted me to pay out of pocket full price for glasses. I will continue to get my eye exams there just because I like Dr. Bona and he has the history of my eye problems, but the staff tends to be unhelpful, treats you as if you are inconveniencing them, and apparently unknowledgeable about insurance benefits.

I ordered custom sunglasses through this place. I was told I wouldn’t have any issues with glasses that I picked because of strength of my prescription(Dr Bona’s daughter measured lens with a special device), and that I would have 30 days to replace it no matter what. Once I received those, the curve of the lens was too much for my eyes, and I got«fish tank» vision through them. I needed to exchange those glasses, Turned out I had to pay more money for different lens, even after I was guaranteed that I wouldn’t have any problems with them and paying anything extra wasn’t mentioned at all. They ended up replacing original glasses for cheaper ones, but I never got any difference back from them, because they claimed they suffered a loss on that pair. Very unprofessional service. In addition to my unpleasant experience, every time I had some questions, I was treated as a nuisance. Once they charged my insurance and received the co-payment, everything they did felt like a huge favor. Also, prices vary daily on same products and accessories, depending who you will talk to. Not everyone there is knowledgeable enough. The only person that provided good customer service was a young gentleman, maybe because he’s not related to the family that runs the business. WOULDNOTRECOMMEND !!!

I recently moved to Marblehead and I chose Custom Eyecare due to the great reviews on Unilocal.I couldn’t be more pleased that I did so. The two ladies that work at the front desk are kind, helpful, and funny. I actually had an allergic reaction to the contacts that I had ordered, and they went above and beyond in helping me exchange them with no added costs to me. I am very thankful to the both of them. Furthermore, Dr. Bona does excellent, efficient, and thorough work. He was instrumental in helping me figure out my allergic reaction to the contacts. He is a true professional and I couldn’t recommend a business any more than I do Custom Eyecare.

I just want to tell a little story about Custom Eye Care. This past summer while shocking my swimming pool, the shock splashed back into my eye. I called Dr. Bona in a complete panic. Shortly after Dr. Bona sent his daughter to take me right away to Mass Eye & Ear in Boston. Not only did she drive me and comfort me, she stayed with me the whole time. I told everyone I knew about this cause you don’t hear of your eye Dr. going above and beyond like this. He saved my eye. He and his family make you feel like you are apart of their family. I can’t say enough about Dr. Bona and the family friendly service he always provides. If you are looking for an eye Dr. look no further. Truly grateful Sheila Keith

I’ve been to Custom Eyecare once so far and was impressed. Dr. Bona was great about explaining everything during the exam. He identified the cause of discomfort I had been having and gave me helpful suggestions for addressing it. He also prescribed new contacts that are a lot more comfortable than my old ones.

I’ve always been pleased with the proffessionalism and the courteous staff at custom eye care. Dr. Bona has been my family optician for over 3 years now and they have always been more than helpful when explaining the exam. The other staff are always attentive and informative and getting glasses and contacts is always as quick and painless as it can be. I suggest this optical shop to anyone with or without insurance as they give a complimentary 20% off to anyone without insurance and they also take most major insurances which they have listed on their front desk.

I am always nervous when I have someone messing around with my eyes, just one of those things for me. I am happy to say that this was the most pleasant and informative appointment I have had with an optician. I was very comfortable, and everything was explained to me in a clear and polite way. I had the opportunity to meet the rest of the staff(family run) while browsing their selection of frames, and they are all so very friendly, helpful and easygoing. I would highly recommend visiting this location if you are in the market for an optician!
