Piercing Pagoda

My daughter came to me last night and posed question to my greatest fear as the mother of a young girl, she wanted her ears pierced. After her father refused to be the bad guy and say, «no», I gave in.
I start my review this way because it is relevant to what happened next, a flurry of online research. (I will be the first to admit I am an over protective mother.) Everything I found bashed the use of the «gun,» a tool that for generations has pierced every ear of every woman in my family. with mixed results. It struck fear in me! I frantically called every professional piercer in the area (who I will keep nameless) and was basically told to «go screw», until my daughter was 14. One professional that I questioned said, «Go to the mall!» and when I posed it being unsafe or bad, he laughed.
So I went to the Swansea Mall. As I walked through we quietly walked past Claire’s (another place that pierces gears with the gun) and it was crowded, the piercing chair stuffed in an all but too small corner. I decided the better of it and continued to Piercing Pagoda.
The two women working that day were super friendly and even better, comforting. They answered all my questions, walked me through the process, gave my daughter a lolly-​pop (which can pretty much distract a kid of almost any age) and got all the paperwork done quickly. When it came time do to the piercing they let my daughter sit on my lap, hug the stuffed bunny and the two ladies on either side pierced the ears all at once. My daughter was more upset BEFORE (out of anxiety I created) then during or after. Virtually painless and super easy! If it wasn’t for my excessive spending spree of new earrings, it was also quite in expensive.
Moral of the review is, I now believe all the hype around «ear guns» being a false-​hood. All four my ear piercings were done with these devices and I’ve never had an issue. Proper care and cleanliness of the piercing is far more important, as there is always a small risk of infection with any piercing.
I’d urge mothers to give these wonderful ladies at Piercing Pagoda a try, you truly won’t be disappointed.
