Despite wearing flats all day fulfilling a new position at work where I get to «dress up» instead of donning formless medical scrubs, I came to the realization that I needed sensible, comfortable dress shoes that actually fit my ever swelling feet over a full day up and about. Unsure of what I’d find at this Shoe Dept location, I was pleasantly surprised by my ultimate purchases. Located within the Swansea Mall, closer to the food court end, this store boasts four rows of shoe racks… JAMPACKED with footwear of all kinds for all customers; men, women, and children. I perused two aisles worth of options ranging from sandals, heels, boots, clogs, sneakers, flats, and the like including both casual and dressy varieties. The two employees on staff during my time there both checked with me to determine if I required any help with my search. I declined but appreciated their offers; perhaps I should have accepted given my following review. Two aspects of my trip that prevented me from assigning a higher rating to this location involved their availability, setup, and wide range of prices regarding their footwear. I would have left with a greater number of shoes(which in retrospect, is probably better for my wallet that I didn’t) had they held a larger and more organized stock across their advertised merchandise. For example, finding a pair of brown clogs in my size amongst a sea of boxes from the same company advertising the same shoe but in different colors was a difficult feat indeed. Especially when the ratio between say… the black and brown options were something like 10:1. I almost gave up when I finally caught my color and size out of the corner of my eye as I was walking away. In addition, their pricing scheme makes it difficult to locate sale items. In the same section, I found two pairs of grey flats… one $ 40, the other $ 15 all mixed in with each other. I walked away with very affordable options, but spent much more time than I intended in order to do so. I would like to give this store the benefit of the doubt and attribute their disorganization to the later hour at which I arrived but I have encountered similar conditions earlier in the day as well. In any case, if you are willing to scour the shelves, compare shoes, and search for the best deal, they are there to find and take advantage of. Certainly worth a walk through to see if anything jumps off the shelves at ya.
