I was really disappointed when Bev’s removed the Golden Tee machine, on which I had registered an all-time high score. I probably won’t go back there ever again.

Found this on Unilocal. We had the chicken-half a chicken broasted with 2 sides– for 8.95. The cole slaw is great! Chicken crispy outside, juicy inside and piping hot! Excellent service and cold beer. We’re passing through but would stop here again if in the area.

I live just down the road and have wanted to try bev’s for a long time. Read all the reviews and was pumped up. In a house full of woman Father’s Day is my choice day so off we went! I have been to a lot of dives in my day and they have some of the best food but this was not a good experience! Service was not good at all and the fried pickles were so over fried we could not even eat them. The chicken was very disappointing also. This is sad cause I really was looking forward to having a good chicken goto place in the Toledo area:(

Cold cold frosted mugs of beer and broasted chicken… super juicy, moist and will definitely splash your face with the hot succulent juices once you’ve torn through the crispy buttery skin… mmmm, porn food. Enjoy Suckas…

Burgers were great! The service even better! At 8 p.m. the restaurant was nearly dead with only 3 customers when we arrived. After a local funeral, the place filled to capacity in 30 minutes. Amanda, the only waitress, was pleasant and got every order correct and kept the beverages coming. The entire staff pulled together like a well oiled machine. Kudos!

The food and service was great. Came at 3:30 on a Monday with my wife and 4 girls on the drive home from Chicago. The kids meals were typical — dyno nuggets and a hot dog were ordered by the kids. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger and my wife got the chicken dinner. Both were AWESOME! The place was empty due to the time so we didn’t experience the slow service that others reviewed. Since it was empty we let the kids sit by themselves in a booth and we sat at a table near by. We asked the waitress if she minded and she had no problem with it. She was wonderful with them. At the end of the meal the kids got candy treat from her. A very nice stop on our long drive home.

You will wait and it’s so worth it. Like someone before us, we stopped on our way to Chicago. The place was slammed. And now we know why. Onion rings to die for. Broasted chicken the best we’ve ever had. The mashed potatoes and gravy, I will crave them and not be able to get them. Servers were really really busy and were working very hard. Sit back relax and enjoy your meal that you will want over and over again.

This is truly a diamond in the rough! We were driving from Chicago, were halfway to our destination and needed to stop to eat dinner around the Toledo area. We wanted to find a place right off the toll road and came across this gem. The food is fantastic! The fried mushrooms are to die for. The mashed potatoes with gravy seriously melt in your mouth! We are thinking about stopping on our way back to Chicago!

Captain’s log: day 3. We are lost in rural Ohio. Desperately in need of gas. Stumbled across Bev’s. Found the best homemade onion rings on God’s green earth. People are friendly. Beer is cold. Mugs are frosted. A diamond in the rough for these weary travelers. Best onion rings this side of the Mississippi. If I don’t make it home, I hope that heaven has onion rings like these.

Sticky tables, dated décor, old building. All the requirements for a full-fledged food dive. And even the service is slow-ish, but they seemed to really know they regulars, which is awesome, unless you aren’t a regular. But so help me God, if their famous broasted chicken isn’t cooked in an oil made from golden orphan bones, I don’t know what else could possibly make it as unbelievable as it is. You forget everything the moment they put that four piece platter(coleslaw and mashed potatoes also a must) on the table. You know, until you get home and have to wash your arms because they’re picking lint up like fly paper. Even still, best broasted chicken ever.

Okay, honestly, if you go to this place, it looks like is strives to be a dive. More like a dump. Inside it is very clean, but everything is very old and dated. That being said, there is a certain charm about the place, kind of a 1960s time warp. It IS clean! I want that to be realized Now, let’s talk about the food. Wonderful. The specialty, the broasted chicken, is probably the best chicken I have had outside of my grandmother’s fried chicken. God rest her soul. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger and fries and said fantastic. Blue cheese dressing for my salad was so tasty, and everything on the salad was as fresh as could be. There was a couple behind me that got the daily lunch special, the taco salad. It looked like they skimped on absolutely nothing. I could hear them talking about how good they were. One nice thing, they have caffeine free diet coke. Great for those of us who can’t sleep if they have caffeine after 3pm. They need more help! Although I am sure this place is never half full… remember, we are out in Swanton… not exactly über populated and the outside of the place probably turns many away… they really need more than one girl doing the bar, all the service, and all the bussing. Yelling at us from behind the bar asking us if everything was okay was actually cute… a hard worker she was!

What would I have for my last meal if I was on death row? Bev’s chicken wings with spicy garlic sauce. Chicken. Chicken. Chicken. Get the chicken. However you want it. Chicken dinner, chicken wings, chicken noodle soup. Doesn’t matter. Let me make a recommendation. Chicken noodle soup to start and chicken wings with spicy garlic sauce and beer battered fries for the meal. Now the wings are a little small, but they are typically fried to the right crispness. The sauce makes the meal. It’s not for everyone(your scalp will actually sweat) but it’s an A+ for me. Sauce comes on the side so it’s not super messy.

Following my eldest niece’s horse show, I took Big Mama and Daddy out for an early dinner. I’ve always wanted to try the Keg because they advertise frog legs on the front of the building. And who doesn’t just love frog legs? After pulling in to the parking lot, Big Mama tells me this is where she first met Daddy(only then it was mostly a bar with pool tables in the back, and maybe you could get nuts and chips to munch on). How sweet, a walk down memory lane with my parents, before they had the Baconator. Service was on the slow side, but when you’re short-staffed that’s bound to happen. The other server called in sick so this lady had to pull a double. We did our food relatively quick, even with Daddy’s having to be remade(he ordered fish and they brought him chicken, and since he’s brighter than Jessica Simpson there was no way I could convince him this was the chicken of the sea). Just as I remembered, the frog legs were terrific. Heavy on the batter, but such good batter it was. Perhaps the most disturbing part of the meal was when Big Mama asked Daddy«You ’bout ready to go» before he finished all his food. Once he did finish, he asked her the same question. And that little twinkle in their eyes made me realize this was not a story I wanted to hear. Three stars, in actuality. But a bonus star for still being around as long as my parents have been together.
