Every October, I wait for the Jumble Sale at the Swarthmore Friends Meeting on the Swarthmore College campus.
It’s a super organized yard sale with items divided among several departments such as clothing, housewares, books, small electrics and electronics. There’s usually a silent auction of some new or upscale vintage items, jewelry, etc.
I have bought some great things here– a ceramic bean pot (everyone needs one of them!), a large electric coffee urn, etc. There are lots of great buys and finds every year.
Be forewarned. People line up up to an hour ahead of opening time. These die-​hards have a mission in mind so some things will disappear in a flash.
