We had the ribs and chicken for a party. Very juicy and tender. I loved the sauce. Some might think it is a little sweet, but it has a twang. I heard the pork chops are excellent. They are not listed as BBQ on Unilocal,so I didn’t know great ribs were so close.

This is the 2nd time I’ve eaten here. I wanted to give it another chance. Meh. Ordered pot pie soup; nothing special. 3.50 for a tiny«to go» bowl not even filled up; definitely not worth it. Also for the beefy cheddar melt. Nothing great; actually dry with a slice of cheese barely melted on top. Soup, melt, water; 10 bucks. Way too much for quality and portion. I’m hoping to give them another try with the pulled pork or maybe I just got them on bad day; again.

This place has the best pork chop sandwich around. Their ribs are so tender and fall right off the bone. I’ve had many lunches and dinners from here and am never disappointed. Only problem is that they close early so you have to plan ahead.

Went here for lunch today. Small little place off Main St. in Sycamore. The kind of place you can smell before you see. Decent pork chop sandwich. The chop itself was huge and tender on a big soft bun. However, I asked for sauce on the side, got the sandwich drenched in sauce, but also received a side of sauce, so, could’ve been a miscommunication there. Got the Tom’s homemade sauce. I was told it has jalapeño in it and it was okay, kind of like Sweet Baby Ray’s with some jalapeño added. Ordered the Italian chicken breast sandwich and asked for sweet peppers on the sandwich expecting… well… sweet peppers(like those you would find on a Italian beef) opened it up to find chopped raw green peppers on it. I guess that’s what they call sweet peppers here? Although again, could’ve been a miscommunication. Chicken was decent as well, pretty juicy, not exactly what I would call«Italian» seasoning, pretty much just tasted like any other grilled chicken breast. Ordered a side of baked beans but when I got back to my office they were not in the bag, so I can’t comment on those. Overall, okay experience. Could’ve been on off day for them regarding the mix-ups with my order, the staff seemed on edge and some customers were being more difficult than they needed to be. And I know what you’re thinking, «Who the hell orders a chicken breast sandwich at a BBQ joint?»…but I wasn’t planning on falling asleep at my desk for 2 hours, so I’ll definitely will be going back another day to try the ribs.

Best ribs I have ever eaten! This place is a hidden gem in Sycamore. If you love ribs don’t pass this place up. On my wife’s recommendation we tried this place for dinner(carry out). We had two slabs ribs, cole slaw and egg salad, absolutely delicious! The meat just falls off the bone. The sauce was abundant and flavorful. The egg salad and cole slaw were homemade and delicious. We will definitely be ordering from here again and look forward to trying their other items.

First of all I don’t know how you can complain about juicy fat and gristle at a country barbecue joint. I just ordered and ate the grilled ribeye sandwich with grilled onions and mushrooms with a1 sauce and it was the best I’ve ever had. The place it self is a little grungy but what do you expect from a BBQ place that grills the meat in the parking lot and serves it over a deli counter. If you are looking for tofu or vegan delights this is not the place for you but if you are a carnivore and enjoy eating animals this is a must try.

Any place that has a bratwurst sandwich with cheese and bacon is a place I have to go to eat! Plus they have probably the best barbecued pork on the planet Earth. Heard about them on the score when they supported victory chicken Monday. Everytime I come to visit my dad down here, I know where I’m going for meals.

Complete waist if money. I paid $ 25 for lunch and didn’t even eat the food. Save your money. And the meat counter didn’t look any better. I’ll stick to inbodens. Pasta salad gross potato salad even worse. No meat on my 7 dollar brisket sandwich beef and cheddar all fat and the meat was white? Stay away from this place over priced garbage

Good Porkchop and Rib eye sandwich. Also purchased Chicken in butcher shop, which was a nice tasting chicken. Try their Apple slaw. We liked it and will return when in the area. Sorry I did not get a chance to do the Rib dinner. Only draw back it closes early.

Having just moved to Sycamore, I have been investigating the food scene around here and I have to say, it isn’t bad. But today I think I found my new favorite spot! Like any good Midwesterner I was raised with a discerning palate for barbecue and Country Store and Catering delivers! I had their pork chop/third of a slab of ribs combo dinner, which included a roll, applesauce,(amazing!) baked beans, and my choice of salad(I went with their macaroni salad). The meal was delicious! The pork chop was grilled to perfection and had a delightful smoky flavor to it. The ribs… I don’t know where to begin. The meat was so tender and juicy; it was literally falling off the bones. I found that the BBQ sauce was sweet and zesty, which is fine by me, and not at all«runny» as another reviewer stated. I also had a brownie bar for dessert, which was pretty average. They seem to have a wide range of meats available, though to be completely honest I was so overwhelmed by the smell of my food that I didn’t look too hard. I will likely run in to pick up some steaks before the grilling season is over(though in my family grilling season is 365 days a year, despite rain, snow, or hail!) They also had a wide selection of their salads available to take home. In short the prices were completely reasonable(you get a LOT of food) and the quality was phenomenal. My biggest complaint is that they are SO close to my home and work, I might gain a few pounds!

Small towns delight me, and especially in the Deep South or Upper Midwest. You can drive around almost any corner, and find a gem of a surprise, whether it’s a small town festival, a jewel of a piece of architecture, a funky shop, or a surprise of a restaurant. Mrs. Burgerdogboy and I hit one last year by accident, we were driving down US101 in California, feeling a bit hungry, and I said out loud«at the next exit we will pull off and there will be some cool small town thing happening, and we will eat there.» The town was Paso Robles, and it was the«Barbecue Fest in the Park», which was a little short on fest, and a little short on BBQ, but we, and the newest member of our family, our beautiful dog«Liv», had a great time. Tooling around outstate Illinois today, I was looking for one place, and ended up at another. One of those places the car automatically slams on the brakes because of an aroma in the air. Today it was the smoke from an outdoor barbecue, and the place is called«The Country Store and Catering» in Sycamore, IL. More of a butcher counter than anything, the retail portion is full of house-made sausages and smoked meats. But behind the register, there’s a sign with their grilled meats available as sandwiches, and I went with a ‘seasoned butterflied pork chop’. Served on a hamburger bun with your choice of a whole host of condiments, including six different barbecue sauces, this is one fine sandwich, and one great piece of meat. Clear blue summer skies, great barbecue, pastoral countryside, the kind of stop Mrs. Burgerdogboy and Liv would have really enjoyed. But they couldn’t make this trip. Maybe next time.

This is a really good place for a good porkchop or ribeye sandwich on the go! There is no sitting area inside, so you’re either sitting in the car, or at the picnic tables outside. The meat is very tasty and DEFINITELY fresh!!! The butcher is a really nice guy, and is always there to tell you what’s good that day!

This place has the best food. They have moved to Sycamore now but the place is the best for Pork chop sandwiches. The rest of the meat and catering menus are awesome.
