I am reconsidering To stop using Menards as my home supply go-to. I am growing tired of the crap customer service at checkout. I don’t really need much to walk away happy either. However growing tired of the millennials that can’t train millennials to do a good job. One example, I get taken out of line(more than once) to a computer that won’t work. Then the cashier shrugs and walks away to leave me on my own. If I knew my kids worked like that, it would be fixed right away. They can’t count change but it’s not their fault in this current times. I guess expecting a slight amount of taking care of the customer is asking too much?

Two stars is there for the helpful, knowledgeable and friendly associates in home and garden. As for the rest… When building a new spray booth in my shop, I went there to get a quote on supplies. The largest item in the quote were two lan beans totaling almost $ 800. I had to convince them that yes, they came in 20 ft lengths(24ft is common for two car garages). The estimate took about 2 hours working from my list and the total came to about $ 2800. I took the list to RP Lumber nearby and was quoted $ 1300 and the LAN beams were around $ 250 total. We had similar experiences in the past with our deck and fence. With the deck, we were a but naïve and just bought it there, for a total of around 4K that they spec’d out. When were were done, we had enough material left over to build 50% more deck. Because we did the work and it took us about over 30 days to complete on the side, the manager said returning the material was not possible. Why I go went back after that is my fault. What caused me to write this is that I always go there and when I ask for something either have to wait for an associate or get sent three or four different places for my item. Sunday was no different. I was looking for cleats to hang a mantle piece. I started back in trim work as this seemed most logical. From there they sent me to shelving who had no clue but assured me it would be in paint. From there I was sent to picture frames and still no luck. Found an associate who called the one who had originally sent me to paint and very indigently walked me over to the picture frame area and showed me these little metal clips. When I said they wouldn’t hold it, he disagreed and walked away. This is not the first time I have got this treatment. I will still go there when I need something VERY common and quick if it is convenient, however with Farm and Fleet and Lowes nearby, it won’t be too often.
