We contracted JBC to do a kitchen remodel and fix up a few other things on the house. The original remodel went fine, over budget as everyone always says. The problem, wasnt the over budget, if we had received decent goods and services for the extra money that would have been fine. issue #1 — our kitchen cabinets fell apart and we needed to buy new ones. I was told that I had to buy new ones right away otherwise the construction schedule would be thrown off. Jesse took me to a place to purchase new cabinets, which I did without proper research. He assured me these were good quality cabinets and I believed him. Well every time I try to open a drawer I have to yank a few time really hard to get them to open. Not only that, the cabinets sat in my garage for 2 months. why I couldn’t find my own cabinets I will never know. Issue #2 — incomplete service, we ended up having to put in new hard wood floors, for some reason, they guys didnt feel it was necessary to seal the bathroom and closet floors, Now our bathroom is a tny closet that barely has room for a toilet, there isnt even a sink, so to add the layer of sealant probably would have taken 5 – 10 minutes, even less time for our new broom closet, so why they refused to do it, again, i will never know Issue #3 — «we guarantee our work» I know, stop laughing. We actually believed it. But when the newly applied paint to our front porch started to peel within months, we tested this«guarantee», well no surprise there, 6 months later our porch has peeled to the point where it looks like it was never done before. These are the main issues, there are many smaller issues of sloppiness, not finishing the job etc. One last point, we were taken by surprise when the work was done we were charged and extra $ 400 to move our appliances back into the kitchen. I dont know if this is standard practice or not, but I certainly was unaware of it when the work started. What really threw me into a tizzy was when they were installing the stove and didnt do it correctly they told me they are not stove installers and should have hired someone to do it — of course I thought I had, if they didnt know how to hook up the gas then they should have told me and I would have gotten someone else.
