A must if you are in Sylva! Interesting menu, great friendly service. Wife sample three different tapas. Samosas, assorted salsa & chips and grilled kale. Samosas and sauce were terrific! Salsas were very good. Grilled kale okay but flat… needs some zip. I had kale and sweet potato salad with their own black bean burger(huge). Dressing was extremely good, complex, slightly creamy texture. Burger was equally good. We both had a yummy glass of red wine… wish I could remember what it was. Overall a nice dinner!!!

My wife enjoyed the curry, but my burrito was dry and lacked flavor. Server was polite. The only server for the whole restaurant. This place seems to be barely hanging on because there are few patrons, run down atmosphere, and considerably overpriced. Won’t be coming back.

I really enjoy everything about this restaurant. The restaurant has an old time diner feel, but the restaurant experience is quite different. Every single item I have had at this restaurant has been fantastic! The plantain appetizer is a great start to the meal, and features the sweet plantain flavor, a spice blend, and a housemade ketchup that works surprisingly well with the dish. The drink selection is simple, but deliberate. I love the sweet tea, as it’s made with Earl Gray, and the local selection of craft brews. Now on to the main entrees. The dinner menu is limited and may be a bit intimidating for conservative eaters. …but I recommend that you give one of these items a shot. The mango pork tacos are so flavorful and my personal favorite item! The blackened plantain is unique, fresh, sweet, and spicy. The jerk chicken is not overly hot, but this is probably the best variation of this dish that I have ever tasted! This place does get a slow when it gets packed with people, but the food is well worth the wait, and the staff are very kind!

I’m not a huge fan of spicey food. The food I did have was ok. Not oustanding for the price it cost. The staff though is really friendly and try to see to all your needs.

At this point, I don’t really care how it tastes. We’ve been waiting 45 minutes for our food on a Saturday when they have only three tables of sit-in folk. They’re nice and all… but really? It’s sunny outside and I want to go play. Not a place to stop for a quick bite.

We wanted to try Guadalupe for a while. Last Friday, we finally pulled the trigger and went for it. We should have tried something else. Upon arrival, we weren’t greeted. We had to ask if we could sit, or wait to be seated. We were told they were working on it. Five minutes later, it was suggested that we just sit wherever we wanted. Ok. Service continued to be lackluster. While we gazed at the astonishingly high prices on the menu(high for this area), we had some questions. We asked our waitress about the Peanut Chicken. She had to excuse herself and run to the kitchen. Coming back with info, she informed us that they had about a half serving of it, so the order would be watered down. Guess what we didn’t order? Ended up trying some pork tacos and I had the Bison Burger. The pork tacos were pretty average. Two tacos and a pile of rice for 16 bucks left my date wanting more. Since I stayed clear of the watery peanut chicken and chose the burger, I was able to experience the driest and blandest burger ever made. For fifty bucks, I can think of plenty of other places to have dinner. Also, everything on the menu is an extra fee. This was a turn off as soon as I looked at the menu. Pick another spot for dinner and save a few(dozen) bucks.

Great Big Experience in a small small town. Quality ingredients and culinary arts come together in a 50s motif!

By far downtown Sylva’s best place to grab a bite of food and local culture. Local bands, great beer & wine selection, the burritos are a town staple. Go here!

They lost me as a repeat customer over less than 1oz of salad dressing, and a waiter with a very lackluster attitude that preferred to hang in the back on his phone. I asked for another side of dressing because the last time I was there my waiter brought me a decent portion in a larger condiment cup. So after I asked, he walks to the register and starts entering. I’ve unfortunately had him as a waiter before and I’ve been thru this already with him after getting my bill. So I asked if there was a charge for it and he said yes. I told him I didn’t want it then. This was an insult to the mostly lettuce, undersized & overpriced $ 10 «regular» salad with added tofu. And for $ 5.25 got a taco which consisted of beans, brown rice and 3 tiny slivers of avocado. It seems whenever the owner is in the kitchen, the bare minimum is served. For the price charged the portions are way too small. I felt like waking out without tipping, and I usually tip 20%+ on the total, but I reluctantly left $ 2 and split without a happy face. It’s too bad, I enjoy a few of the wait staff that actually have friendly personalities, and the food can be decent, but it’s usually overpriced. As a vegan it’s hard enough finding places to eat locally, but I probably won’t be going back.

Friendly and spirited service, great attention to how they source their ingredients, atmosphere and art a big plus for this part of the state — an oasis of taste and culture!

Service not good this time, patio taken up by employees smoking, food great! Two other tables and our waiter took forever for drinks etc. disappointing. Only good aspect was food. Hmmm.

Enjoyable and funky. We had tacos and burritos with various toppings and all was loved. Sesame mango salad also good. When I say«funky» I mean, where else do you get Chinese hot chili sauce with your Mexican food? Come early if you want Sunday brunch; menu says they serve it till«2ish» but today at least, they were out of it by 1:15. We didn’t come for brunch but if you had…

We love this place! Great creative menu, well prepared and excellent service. We could appreciate the quirky décor. My son and I loved the food on our first visit so much we ordered a few appetizers and 3 entrees just for the two of us, knowing we’d have a doggie bag to take to the cabin for a second meal. I went out of my way on a second vacation to WNC with my wife just so she could enjoy Guadalupe and dine under the watchful eye of the Voodoo Virgin Mary. We travel and eat at some pretty expensive and well reviewed restaurants. We all rank Guadalupe in a small group of exceptional places to eat. Don’t miss it!

Great spot in the heart of Main Street Sylva. I love their eclectic menu, kind of a Caribbean, Tex Mex, American fusion kind of thing. We had the fried plantains and a stuffed avocado to start. The plantains were great and the avocado /pico /feta was very fresh. I had a couple of basic bean and cheese tacos with some scotch bonnet salsa on the side. I loved the tacos and the salsa had some great heat but was still full of flavor. My friends had the burger and a BBQ sandwich with the fried okra on the side. This isn’t your typical friend okra. The okra is cut lengthwise, lightly fried, and seasoned with something very tasty. Great ambience, very eclectic, colorful décor. The waiter was fantastic and made really good recommendations. Nice!

Special find! Had the daily specials. Jerk green beans with feta cheese and trout taco with 10 oz trout. Enjoyed local musicians on fiddle, guitar and saw. Yes saw. Excellent service. A true delight.

Bland. Unauthentic … If you are going to champion a fusion menu you should master the styles … My pork adobo had ZERO flavor. I think I used a whole bottle of siracha just to get thru it. None of our party finished their plate due to uncooked rice and just bland bland food. Even the blt wrap was tasteless ! How !?! We were starved after a day n the mines. And this fare did not satisfy

This place is such a mixed bag for me. The food is well done, and the ingredients do appear to be a high quality. I had a burrito that was great and absolutely filling and tasty(chicken($ 3), Beans, Rice,($ 7.50) Extra Cheese($ 1), Mushrooms(50 cents)) but it ended up being $ 12…for a Burrito. And while it was a tasty burrito…*IF* i would of added bacon, or some sauce(pretty dry) or avacado, or really anything else… it would of been a $ 15+ burrito. I love customization, but it reaches a point of absurdity really quickly here when it comes to price. Was it that much better than burrito places in asheville? Not really. Each ingredient was noticeably fresh and tasted good… but i felt kind of underwhelmed based on the price and what I got portion wise. Lastly: for the love of god, why do places not serve a coke or soda. I don’t really get why you can’t buy a pack of cans and charge me $ 2 for a can, I’d be willing to pay it. I’m not really ever excited to try your off brand pop you’re super excited about. That’s my #1 pet peeve, even over cash only places

What a cool little place, I wish I could have packed it up with me and brought it home. We were wandering around downtown Sylva, and the dinosaur astronaut on their door out on Mill Street sold me, we had to come back around and eat lunch there. The dinosaurs are also on the doors! I ordered nachos with jalapenos, tomatoes, and grilled chicken. They also come with beans and cheese, and fresh salsa. It was amazing. Compared to the other times I get nachos like this, I could seriously taste such a clear difference in the ingredients. Everything here was fresh and delicious. I loved the salsa, it added more tomato and jalapenos, but it was also made with chopped cucumber and red onion. Different, and delicious. I ate every last bite because it was just so good. My boyfriend had a burrito with adobo chicken and said it hit the spot. Our server was Bonnie and she was awesome. She got her job done and she spent time talking with tables. Some little boy sitting with his family at the counter asked her a question about something local in the area(like how somewhere got its name?) and she didn’t know, but went to ask the kitchen for him. Coming out to Sylva was far superior to whatever giant group car plans the rest of my friends were doing that day. I had the best lunch out of any of us. I definitely would come back here to eat, some of the tapas dishes sounded fantastic too.
