I’ve decided to write a few reviews of the restaurants in Toledo and surrounding areas, as I often check with Unilocal to decide where I’m going to eat by the reviews I read. I’m not going to be cruel just honest so here goes… We thought we would give Tony Packos a try after reading some of the reviews and I wish we hadn’t. A handful of items were on the menu, one looking more unappetizing than the next, surely they couldn’t get it wrong but it was all wrong from the look of the food to the taste of it. The kids menu food was definitely out of a card board box my kids wouldn’t even eat it. Our server came over and asked if there was anything we could add to our«delicious» meal and I thought are you having a laugh ! We had the stuffed cabbage and sausage I guess we set ourselves up really! I’m sorry to have spent the time and money Anyone from outside of Toledo(since it’s supposed to be famous here) would do well by avoiding it, if at all humanly possible pass it by ! Anyone from Toledo who has wondered and thought maybe I’ll give it a try… skip it! I can assure you, you are missing nothing

The dog had good flavor and a good crunch, but everything else was less than par. The chilli on the dog was boring at best. The cabbage role was mediocre and lacked freshness… like it was literally cooked last week. I substituted mac and cheese for the chili. The noodles were extremely soft and the mac and cheese tasted really needed salt and pepper to taste. Very very bland. Oh, one 22oz Miller Lite draft cost $ 4.79. What a crock! I won’t be coming back.

Good food in general. Classic Packo’s hotdogs today were underdone. The skin didn’t snap with each bite. I had to tear the bite so the soft bun got smushed and the cony sauce fell from the sandwich bun. They tasted good. Chili was A-OK tasted great. Bathroom was clean but had functional issues. Mens Bathroom has no hot water for washing. Urinal didn’t flush well.

Good food but pricey ! They would have much more business if they would be more reasonable

UPDATE — The V.P. of Operations contacted me to apologize for the experience we had and is speaking to the manager of store. Everytime we go home to Toledo, it is a tradition to go to Tony Packos. Now that I know the problem we had is being looked into, our tradition of going to get some Tony Packos will continue.

I am not a MASH fan, but my husband is and saw that there was a true Tony Packos. He suggested that we try it on our way home from Michigan. I thought it was interesting it was Hungarian because most of the food reminded me of German faire. The food was good. The«hot dogs» or as I call it Kielbasa was cooked well. I think the chili was ok. I loved their fried pickles and soup. I love spatzle and it tasted great! Will definately go back. Service was good as well… and the décor was neat!

The food is good. The hot dogs are excellent. We usually get the pasta/spatzels.with gravy. They can sometimes be dry. Overall good. The sweet hot pickles are to die for. sweet, but they definitely have some heat. Love them! I go especially for those. They also have hot dill pickles, they are good also.

I had a craving! My mouth started watering. I got the shakes… I was watching an old M*A*S*H episode when Klinger mentioned Tony Packo’s. I almost missed it. I was working in Dundee, MI and I knew this was as close as I could get to a Packo’s dog. I drove the fifteen miles to the border and got off at the first exit. Living in Detroit I love the Detroit coneys. But I have a special place in my heart and stomach for these Hungarian delicacies. Variety is the spice of life and the Packos chili is definitely a little spicier than Detroit chili. Throw in some fried pickles which are a little different if you’ve never tried them. They also have some great soups. If you don’t get enough food while you’re there you can take some home with you in the store. Note to self: Next time here, try the stuffed cabbage. As much as I love Detroit coneys, this place has one big advantage BEER.

Keep it simple with a Packo dog loaded with cheese.
