Crossed CWA /IBEW Union Picket line at Verizon to bring food to scab workers inside numerous times. They were educated and the owners response to Union people was«F*** Y**». Classy folks. Been eating here for years but never again.

This place has been around for years, you can tell by the outdated seating area. Also the place could use a paint job and some updated kitchen supplies. They don’t even have a POS system, still writing it down and using an old cash register. The food is still good, I gave it 3 star rating because my crust was blackened on the bottom from either not using a screen when warming or over cooking it, not sure which was to blame. Went there during lunch and was surprised to see that there was an abundance of slices available, and I think they should pre-cook some chicken wings so you don’t have to wait 10 minutes for them to cook. The salads are big but a lot of it is iceberg lettuce, they could use more romaine or Greenleaf to spruce it up. Overall not a bad place, but they could do some improvements.

If you have that cheap home phone service that keeps advertising on TV, then make sure you don’t miss any payments. This pizza place is named to remind you when to send your money to the phone company: «Payvonage Pizza.» The guy told me the pizza didn’t need warming, and it totally did. It was lukewarm. The Garlic Knot I bought was only 55 cents which is an amazing price. It tasted pretty good but it was already cold, too. If they didn’t really make pizza at all, and were located in Philly, it would be PAphoney’s Pizza. After Paladino’s it’s my fave pizza in SYR, but that’s not saying much because I haven’t tried that many. As I said with Nick’s, bear in mind that I give a 5 star to anything that really does it for me. A 4 star is more«average» because I don’t rate family businesses less than 3. So a 3-star family business is more like a «1 star» to you. And my 4 is more like your 3, maybe. With that in mind, the 4 star here means that Nick’s is not my favourite. If it were Pacino’s Pizza then Robert DeNiro would come here to eat just to remind himself what his biggest rival is up to. I liked it slightly better than nearby Nick’s, and the selection was pretty good. The crust was a nice hard NY style base, and had a real crunch to it which I liked. Make sure you always insist that your slice is properly warmed, though. This pizza is verging on a 5, and it’s great that the location is downtown, but I’m going to stick with a 4 just because overall I think it was a little bit too dry. And if it was Paterno’s Pizza then lots of underage boys would end up scarred for life by eating it, so I just want to say, I’m glad it’s not.

Words Do Not describe the food! I am New to Syracuse! I grew up in In NYC! Last 24 years outside of Philly. First the positives. The bread the sandwiches were on we’re good. By the time we got home(6 miles away) the grease from an attempted cheese steak were leaking everywhere?!? Negatives. I have never tasted«gravy» with such a bitter after taste in my life! We trid an eggplant Parm sandwich, Fried Musheroom app, cheese steak without the peppers because Jalpenos do not belong on a Philly cheesesteak! And a plain pizza! Dinner for three $ 37.04 ¾ of it is in the trash today! This restaurant came with high reviews! Still tasting it in a bad way.

Skip OIP or any other chain and order your pizza from Pavones. Pavones is really the only place to get a decent pizza in syracuse. They will deliver by foot if you live close enough to the downtown location, or by car if you are farther. They have a thick and a thin pizza. If you just order a pizza you will get the thin one, what they call the napolitano, a thin, NY style pizza. After living in syracuse for a few years I was initially disappointed by the otherwise lack of decent pizza selection in town. Now that I discovered pavones it is the only place I will go for a takeout or delivery pizza in Syracuse.

Words Don’t do it. This place’s pie is off the charts. They are so friendly. They all say hi when I walk in. Whenever my Girl friend visits from Denver she begs to go there. They welcome her back and thank her for coming. Just a great place with great staff. I would give them 5 stars, which they totally deserve, however every time I give a company that deserves 5, 5 Unilocal horrible«review engine» decides to «Filter» my opinion.

My girlfriend and I were at Pavone’s downtown last night. She had a calzone and I ordered a large pepperoni pizza. It was excellent and we had tons left over. I always order extra from Pavone’s so I can take some home for later. Also while we were there, the gentleman who was working the counter totally did a good deed. Bless his heart. What a guy.

THEBESTPIZZA. Thin, cheesy, crispy and not in the wood fired oven. I hate all the hype around that BS pizza. Pavones has been my favorite pizza since I’m a kid in Syracuse. The thinnest crust and THEBEST sauce. I miss it as I sit here in Alameda, looking at all the hipsters and their wood fired monstrosities covered in fennel.

Coming from NYC, this place is as close as it gets. Crust is just the right floppiness and sauce spot on. Décor as people mentioned for the downtown location is cafeteria style but has lots of seating available for a quick bite.

Having grown up in Long Island I have high standards for pizza. Luckily, this place meets my standards! I usually get a plain slice to go. Just like the typical pizza you would commonly find in Long Island or New York City, this pizza has nice thin crust, tasty tomato sauce, but not too much sauce, and delicious mozzarella cheese. They always have a variety of slices available from different meats to some vegetarian options. Their garlic knots are pretty good too. The calzones are a popular item. The guys behind the counter always serve with a smile. One even complimented me on my manicure! It is a casual place with the same type of pizza place décor I am accustomed to. Some may call the décor dated, but I call it traditional. The one located in Downtown is my usual spot. One night when this location closed early we got delivery from one of their other locations. They also have a catering menu. It’s no surprise that it is owned and operated by descendants of Sicily trained in NYC!

Great slice to have on a quick lunch. The usually have slices that they just heat up, but then so do alot of places in syracuse. Pizza’s good but it lacks its favorite buddy, the buffalo wing. Décor is dated and i feel like im in the first scene of the tmnt movie bc of it, but u dont worry about that part. Good pizza, thats all u care about.

Great eats before the game. After spending the morning, touring downtown Syracuse, we were hungry. We came upon Pavone’s Pizza and Eatery and ordered a medium neopalitan pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, eggplant and tomato. We also ordered a loaded tossed salad. This place knows pizza. The two chaps running the store were so accommodating and gracious. The pizza was great, good crust, good toppings especially the breaded eggplant. Pizza sauce was fresh and zesty. The salad was fresh and really good. If you’re downtown, you gotta eat here.

Went back here to give it another shot. I figured with all the great reviews I must have just been there on an off day. I have to say the pizza was much better this time than last. The crust is super thin and crispy. The sauce is a little sweet for me, but not too bad at all. It’s definitely some of the best pizza downtown.

The food was decent. The pizza could have been in for a little longer but the wings were cooked well-done like I asked for. So I would have to say they were… OK.

If this is the best pizza anyone has ever had, they don’t get around much. I do like it here, but it is a block from my office so convenience trumps taste. The staff is friendly but the customers can be a bit sketchy. Still a three star though, i am a regular here.

As for pizza, this is the best pizza I’ve had in Syracuse — real thin crust, good sauce, enough to satisfy a girl that misses Brooklyn and real nyc pizza. And I think the staff is very nice and friendly. Why only 3 stars? The hours are terrible, I really wish they were open later! Even on weeknights, if I am lazy or get a late night craving, where’s my pizza??? I know most of downtown is shut down but pizza is classic late-night food.
