I am not a wine connoisseur, but sometimes need to pick up a bottle for a dinner party. I depend heavily on either staff recommendations or the wine spectator ratings flaggies stores will post on their shelves. There are times when I’ve gotten some pretty sketchy advice from the staff here and come away with the feeling they recommended certain wines because they wanted to move stock. On the other hand, a female staffer there usually has helpful advice. So I think it depends who you talk to. One thing this store does that drives me crazy is they’ll post wine spectator ratings for a wine, but then stock their shelves with *a different year.* So, for example, the wine spectator flap on the shelf will give Wine X 2010 a score of 93. What you then find on the shelf is Wine X 2011, which may be far inferior to the 2010. Maybe an oversight, but maybe intentionally misleading.

I love scotch. This is the spot I hit up. Excellent selection of scotchs and whiskeys. The owner walks the floor and is more than willing to help you find something or order something special
