Tang flavor is probably the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the area. It might be too much flavor for most Americans but whenever you come here and willing to try new things, you will going to get some of the most delicious Chinese food you will ever had. The dry pots is most delicious item on the menu along with their Chinese style Kong Pao chicken. All the other items are as equally tasty. The service is good, the food comes out fast, and the prices are decent. Definitely a must try spot in Syracuse.

This place is definitely not getting enough attention. I have ordered takeout 3 times and ate in the restaurant once. Every time the food has been the best Chinese food in Syracuse. They have a good American Chinese menu and excellent authentic Chinese menu. Yet, each time this place is absolutely empty. The table service is great. The dry pot style lamb was amazing and came in the pot with flame lit. The Dan Dan Noodles w Meat Sauce deserve a shoutout as well. Total only cost around $ 20. Let’s get some people in here!

I recently found this gem in downtown Syracuse. I read reviews and decided to try it out myself. Love the food at Tang. Nice cheap weekend lunch specials. Egg rolls are the best. I have returned anytime I get near the city. Make it a stop on your list also!

This place is my new obsession. Love the dumplings, we never place an order without the dumplings. Tonight tried the tofu seafood soup and this is my new favorite. If you want to add a little kick to the soup add a packet of the hot sauce.

I really enjoyed dinner at Tang Flavor. It’s downtown Syracuse, I got there moderately late so no problem to find parking or the restaurant. Service was attentive, fairly quick to order & bring out the food & tea refills. Ordered beef & cumin, which was really flavorful & tender, a plate of veg & the dan dan noodles. Veg was cooked just right, noodles were also very tasty. I’d definitely stop here again. Prices were closer to $ 11 than $ 30! Reasonable & good portions.

Very nice place for lunch. The express lunch is a great deal. Three items with fried rice and a drink was less an $ 9. The people there were friendly, saying hi and goodbye. Atmosphere is nice as well, laid back yet still has an authentic Chinese feel.

Three words — Beef Dry Pot! …was full of flavor and the right amount of spice! …and yea, why was the garbage dumpster inside the building?!?

Their food is bomb. I don’t have to see the kitchen to know that everything is fresh and made to order. They have a very extensive menu, offering American and authentic choices making it hard to pick just one thing, but I’ll trust that everything tastes great! We’ve eaten here only twice and were blown away both times. We will definitely return when we get the craving for asian cuisine. Plenty of food with your order, you will not leave hungry. The staff are very warm and welcoming and complimentary peanuts and oranges is a nice touch. If you choose to come here to satisfy your craving, you will not be disappointed.

This place is my new obsession. As others have noted, there is an Authentic Chinese section to the menu, and while I honestly have no idea how authentic it is, I do know that anything I’ve had from that menu is absolutely delicious. I’ve had Dan Dan noodles, Noodles with Meat Sauce, Scallion Pancakes(both with and without the beef strips), Canton Style Stir Fried noodles, Stir Fried Rice Cakes, and a few other things — although I almost always go back to the Noodles with Meat Sauce, which is nice and spicy and fills me up(and at around $ 6 is a good deal). Service is great, the couple is so nice! I often order from here via GrubHub and the food is always ready early for me. I love their location. My only wish is that there were more beverage choices, but this is truly a small thing. If you sit down and eat there, you’ll get some orange slices to end your meal and that is just lovely. I can’t stop eating here!

We came here for a late dinner. We received good service and the food was good. They have an American-Chinese menu and a Chinese(authentic) menu. We ordered a dry pot(lamb) from the Chinese menu. They bring a small wok with a little burner on the bottom. The meat was tender and the veggies were not over cooked, we asked for it to be medium heat and I was glad, it was the right amount of spice.

We got steamed dumplings, the Dan Dan noodles and(based on all the Unilocal pictures) the cumin lamb. The food and service were fantastic — 4⁄5 stars. Our only complaint was that I am pretty sure that the lamb was not lamb, but instead beef slices. It did not in any way detract from the quality of the dish, it was just misleading — therefore the 3 star rating.

This is some of the absolute best food I have eaten. I find it hard to find well cooked, nicely portioned vegetarian meals(I am 6’3″ 280lb Vegetarian so the struggle is definitely real) and honestly one entrée with no appetizers fills me up here! I used to always order the General Tso’s Tofu which is a HEAPING pile of tofu(I mean if you went to the store and bought it, it would probably be two and a half packs of tofu) and steamed broccoli. The tofu is perfectly fried to be crisp on the outside and still tender and not dried out on the inside. I thought«surely this is the best thing I could ever order» so I just ordered it every time. Two visits ago as we were leaving the owner said«next time try the dry pot tofu» and I said I would. Two days later we went back because I kept thinking about what it was. We ordered it and I was surprised by the higher(though still quite affordable) price tag attached(around $ 13-$ 14) since it was so much higher than most vegtetarian entrees. Well, when it came out I saw why. They bring a literal POT of tofu and veggies cooked in a nice, salty sauce and still sizzling! It was phenomenal. My fiancée and I ordered that and a General Tso’s Tofu and split both and they compliment one another superbly. TL;DRTHISPLACEISAMAZING and you are really missing out if you let it go unnoticed. Favorite restaurant in Central NY by far. Actually, favorite restaurant period.
Four of us came here for lunch and we were not disappointed. We had the Kung Pao chicken, pork fried rice, steamed dumplings and hot and sour soup. All were very good! This place seems to be family-run and has many tables and is good for families with kids. The widescreen TV was blasting a Chinese soap opera which only added to the ambience. A good meal was had by all!

YUM. Very delicious and probably the most authentic Chinese food there is in this location. The service is amazing; my friend and I ordered a light lunch of Dan Dan Noodles and Noodles with meat both of which were very rich in flavor and CHEAP. But the hot tea was delicious with real flowers and leaves in a giant tea pot and they gave peanuts prior to our dishes coming out. At the end of our meal, we were given red bean soup and sweet oranges and fortune cookies. Service was very welcoming. THISPLACEISSOGOOD. They give large portions for very decent, inexpensive prices. Surely Tang Flavor is great food at a great price.

Had takeout from here as it was walking distance from the Jefferson Clinton Hotel and I was really impressed with the one dish and experience(and keep in mind that my review is only reflective of that one experience). Coming in to pick up my order at around 9:50pm, the place was almost closed but they had no issues taking my order at 9:35pm so it was nice that they didn’t cut me off like a lot of take out places may when you call so near their closing time. The restaurant inside was very clean and the staff was really friendly and had my order all ready to go. I had the lamb cumin and I also ordered 3 spring rolls. First, the spring rolls. They messed it up and gave me egg rolls instead. I still gave them 5 stars because the lamb cumin just blew me away that much. The lamb cumin was delectable with very thin(but ample) pieces of lamb and lots of spices. It had quite a bit of heat to it. I think it had just a smidge too much salt, but I like my dishes very low on sodium. It came together very well and was super tasty. Overall, this is a nice place for takeout or even to dine in – it looked pretty nice inside and with their really reasonable prices, you can’t go wrong.

I usually don’t like writing a review after only one visit but I know I’ll be returning and I’ve gotten a good enough sense of what makes Tang authentic and great for an area so devoid of Asian cuisine. In the heart of downtown lies a very unassuming Tang Flavor. When I walked in on a slow Monday night, I was unfortunately the only customer at the time. About fifteen minutes later, a group of about 10 Asian students walked in. If they know what’s up then I know I’m in the right place. There were plenty of giant tables so definitely good for groups, another plus to the lazy susans in the middle. Service was prompt and courteous, if not overly attentive. I was waited on three different gentlemen throughout my entire meal. Authentic is the name of the game here. Tofu dry pots, which I cannot wait to try on subsequent visits along with cold noodle dishes, regional specialties of lamb cumin(which I DID partake in) down to offerings such as sliced beef tripe. It’s as close to a big city Chinatown that you are going to find in Cuse. I started off with an appetizer of shumai but I wouldn’t recommend this to customers. I was expecting something on the more authentic dim sum side but instead got what looked like tiny, not homemade, shumai that I’ve purchased before in an Asian supermarket. If I had to base the meal on these alone, it would have unfortunately been a huge disappointment. But then the lamb dish came out a few minutes later and WOW. Steaming, spicy, tender lamb all decked out on a bed of cabbage with a side of white rice. I ate every last morsel, it was incredible. This is the reason I came here and one of their star dishes. I was pleased with everything but the shumai and am frothing at the mouth to return. They’ve got a good thing going here and the city was in desperate need of it. If you want truly authentic Chinese food, Tang is your spot.

This place is best place for authentic and spicy Chinese food in Syracuse in my mind thus far. I tried a few places and everyplace seems too Americanized. That is not to say this place isn’t Americanized either. However it does have a degree of authenticity that you don’t get anywhere else. everything that I have tried there thus far is really good. I love spicy food and am always on the lookout for spicy Chinese food and so far, this is the only place that stands up around here. I think their spicy chicken dishes(there are a few) are all very good and a different twist on the typical Americanized Chinese restaurants that I had back from where I lived previously. The owners seem very nice and friendly and always seem accurate on their recommendations. If in doubt, ask them to recommend something

Another very authentic(not Americanized) Chinese. Downtown central location should be great for all the new people moving into this now bustling area. I recommend ordering from the«Authentic» menu that is clearly labeled as such.
