The Art of Massage Spa at 500

Every time I visit my family in syracuse I am sure to book an appointment at spa 500. The prices are stellar (especially considering I live in nyc… where a similar service in an upscale setting could start at $ 200 an hour)… I leave floating on a cloud of relaxation. All the massage therapists are knowledgeable about my extensive list of injuries (ripped rotator cuff, bursitis in my shoulder and ankles, former fracture at L4, plantar fasciitis in both feet, bum knees… tennis elbow. all thanks to 30 years of ballet, gymnastics, swimming, running, bartending for 14 years, pain pain pain is constant in my life… so the beautiful relief the therapists provide is extremely welcome for my battered and exhausted body. My father james raves about spa 500 as well he goes quite often. I once was gifted a couples session for my fiancée and I — and we still talk about how wonderful it was. Hot tub, sauna, massage. even by nyc standards this place gets my 5 stars. A hidden gem in an historic jewel of a building. Margaret seems to be my therapist most often and she really works my ripped shoulder and perma knots so well that id suggest her in a heartbeat– but everyone there really listens to what your ailments are and what your body needs. I will definitely return next time I am in town! Thank you all for making me feel pampered and relaxed, usually after an 8 – 10 hour amtrack up from nyc!

We had a superb 60 minute couples massage here. Every interaction I had with the staff, from questions by email to the welcome we received in person, was warm and professional. The space itself is relaxing and beautifully decorated inside what looks like a former mansion. The massage therapists did a great job attending to our specific needs and making sure we were comfortable and relaxed. I walked back out into the cold central NY winter feeling absolutely rejuvenated.

The facilities are wonderful — quiet, calming and clean. I highly recommend relaxing in the hot tub before your massage — it’s a couple extra bucks but totally worth it!
And Angela is wonderful! She asked where my pain was and really focused on what I wanted. The massage was pure heaven!
