I give this eclectic video game store a 3 star rating because they have a very wide variety of games for any system imaginable… even Atari and Nintendo(original). The reason they get only 3 stars is there is lots of room for improvement at this store. I went on a Friday at 5pm, plenty of people to help out inside, there were at least 4 people behind the counter. It took over 5 minutes before someone actually acknowledged I was in the store; which he did so from behind the counter. He didn’t ask if I was in need of assistance or what I was looking for, and after a few more minutes I was about to give up. Their alphabetizing of product hadn’t been done in awhile, you could tell. Remember, lot’s of employees on clock just mingling, I also found several copies of the same game priced differently. There was no uniformity. I finally located 2 of the 3 games I planned to purchase and noticed that they were right in line with Gamestop, but Gamefly was $ 5 cheaper on all 3 games and no shipping cost. I asked if they would price match so I would have bought them from their store, but they told me they don’t match prices. With all the competing retailers out there you would think that a mom and pop type place would go above and beyond to get business. Guess I was wrong… Soundgarden, Pawn Shops, Game Stop, MicroGame, and Game Craze all have the same product at competitive prices.

Such an awesome retro game shop. They have a huge selection of classics and a lot of hard to find games. The workers there are super friendly and always say hello :)

Every time I travel I check out game stores in the area, and Voltage did not disappoint. They have Philips CDI games, turbografx, super rare titles like Hagane on SNES and more. Their prices were also very fair and the staff was great. I HIGHLY recommend this store over Jay St. I checked out both Voltage locations and they were both awesome.

Knowledgable, friendly, and fair. Voltage is an excellent store for anybody who likes gaming, especially retro gaming. They have a great selection of games and consoles at reasonable prices. They also give you very good trade in value if you are looking at selling or trading in consoles or used games. You receive an extra 50% if you exchange for store credit. I was surprised at how much I received for my older games and consoles. They will even call you if a game you are looking for comes in. This is by far the best gaming store in Syracuse!

It’s not a very big place, but it is packed with games from every system you can think of. They take trade ins, so the games in stock are constantly changing. The staff is very accommodating if you’re looking for a specific title, and they will even give you a call if and when it comes in. Prices are low, even compared to online alternatives. They also offer cleaning and repair on old systems. If you are a gamer at all or even just a child of the 80’s you owe it to yourself to check this place out.
