Of course it’s bar food, but man is it good. Outstanding specials in terms of price and taste. Interior has been upgraded and the nonsmoking atmosphere is wonderful. Attentive servers even during the most busy times.

For bar type food this is as good as it gets. The small restaurant/bar area is located in a separate room at the bowling alley. It is called Chubbies Pub and Grub. I noticed recently a lot of cars at the bowling alley around lunch time and a sign showing their specials for the day. So that attracted me to check it out. It has several tv’s on the walls so has a sports bar setting. Seating consists of booths or high tables with stools. There are daily lunch specials which are listed on their Facebook site. Tuesdays are breaded tenderloins for $ 3.50. They are maybe half the size of the jumbo tenderloins that some places offer, but also less than half the price. Good amount of meat and very nice breading. I think Thursdays are $ 2.00 hamburgers which are excellent… I think half pound. It does not come with fries, my wife and I usually get an order of fries {enough for two}…at $ 1.85 to share with the burger. Fridays are AYCE fish or shrimp at $ 9.95 which comes in a basket with fries. The shrimp are small and nothing special, but the fish is great. You can order the fish basket any day at $ 7.95 which comes with fries and a small cole slaw. Saturday is a $ 14.99 Prime rib which comes with small salad and baked potato. I think you can order fries or mashed potatoes if you prefer. The prime rib is excellent and you would normally pay over $ 20 for prime rib in this area, perhaps in a nicer setting, but not a better piece of meat.

This review is for Chubbie’s the restaurant /bar at the Wawasee Bowl. Has been remodeled recently and is clean, plenty of big TV’s to watch sports and the very best thing in the world… SMOKEFREE ! Good beer selection on tap. A few crafts and some domestic selections. Wife always has a mixed drink and no complaints. So they got the drink portion of the menu right. Daily evening food specials are great with my favorite being Tenderloin Tuesday. Our weekend go to is 39 cent wings on Saturday & Sunday. Always good tossed in a variety of sauces. Meaty wings only to be rivaled by Danny’s Sports Bar. Could use a shuffle board or a few other games to give you something else to do. Plus this bar is a big time Notre Dame fan friendly place. Visit soon and you will find good drinks, food, sports on TV and no smoking.

My favorite bowling alley! Amazing food and friendly employees! Great for those slow nights trying to get out of the house! Glow bowl is especially fun! I’m in at least once a week to eat! Even an ice cream store next door to go to after!

Most small town bowling centers I have been to, are a trip back in time. I am sure you get the picture; the interior hasn’t changed since in the 1970s, and the carpeting should of been replaced many years ago. Likewise, the bathrooms really smell bad, or there is the lingering ghost like smell of cigarettes past. So when I visited the Wawasee Bowl last month, this was what I was expecting to encounter. However, when I walked into the place I was really amazed. My friend Jenny told me the bowling center had been completely renovated over the past year, and it looks very bright and fantastic to say the least. The automatic scoring has been replaced, and the lanes were completely redone. Sadly, I didn’t have a chance to bowl at Wawasee, but I can tell you the food is excellent! When one thinks of the culinary offerings at a bowling center, greasy burgers, pizza, french fries, and heartburn all come to mind. In fact, I was feeling apprehensive since I didn’t bring any Alka-Seltzer with me. So I decided that since it was Friday, I would try their fish fry, and I was very happy that I did, as it was very good! Jenny, told me that the Wawasee Bowl also serves up some great lunch specials. The next time I go to northern Indiana, I plan stopping in and trying them. The only reason I didn’t give this review a 5, is because I didn’t bowl why I was there. With that said, next time I will bring my ball and shoes with me. This place is what every small town bowling center should strive to be.
