My son had told us about this place. The menu online looked very interesting so we ventured in. WOW, the selections and the flavors are fabulous! I ordered the charred hearts of romaine salad and the mac and cheese with crab. It was absolutely delicious. We ordered the veggie flatbread appetizer. Another delicious selection! We ended our dinner with the crème brulee. I consider myself to be very picky when it comes to this dessert and this one was once again, very well executed. We will continue to eat at this hidden treasure whenever possible. Highly recommend that you do the same!

I really enjoy this place. Nice décor and clean. It’s a little gem as the reviews say but it’s awesome. Excellent happy hour prices on food and drink as well!

Hidden Jem. Would recommend to anyone looking for good food and drinks in the midland/fredricson area as I am sure they know about it. Have the Mac&cheese as it was great and dont forget the ribs!

Recently moved from Hawaii and wanted to find a replacement for Monkey Pod at Ihilani… people I have found it at Bar Bistro. Love the drinks, the atmosphere, and the food! Customer service is the freakin bomb. Mind blown by this diamond in the rough. Will definitely be back. I love this place!!!

This was our 1st time here and we will definitely be back. The turkey sliders and the bouillabaisse were delicious! My only suggestion would be to have some music or a tad more atmosphere to liven up the joint, but still great!

My only regret is that this place didn’t exist when we lived in Brookdale. This is a nice addition to the area, but worth the trip, if you don’t live close by – easily accessed from 512 by taking the Midland exit. Nothing about the outside is clear. That is, you can’t see through the windows, suggesting possible foolery for some, entertainment for others is going on inside. Once inside, however, many of the hours are actually family friendly, the décor spacious and contemporary. It’s diverse – you could definitely head here for happy hour(but read my disclaimer below), as a girl’s night out, on a date, or with the fam. Servers were casual, but friendly and attentive. The seat wasn’t wiped down, but eh. We ordered pork belly sliders. They came on a small baguette, with some type of relish. Overall, tasty, but if you read some of my previous reviews, I am really picky about how my pork belly is cooked. I like the meat to be tender, and the fat to render or surrender nicely in my mouth. This was cooked more firm. Overall, it was still quite tasty. The polenta was perfectly seasoned, creamy, with nice mushrooms that added an acidic component to break up the richness. I could definitely eat this for a meal, a snack, and appetizer… sure, put it in a cup, I’ll do that too. We shared the turkey slider entrée. To be fair, it’s a Mediterranean inspired dish and definitely influenced by the flavors – a tomato and red-pepper relish, and olive tapenade, and the bread was beautifully soft, yet, sturdy. The slider was executed well, it’s just that I wanted a sweeter, smoky version, one with onion jam, brie, and bacon. Please, please, make that. As I said, everything was executed well, so no knock. I did not have a drink, so I will have to be back to review that, especially, if you are going to grace this place for happy hour. My husband on the other hand, was really excited that they had some IPA that he typically has to go to a specialty store to get.

Soooooooooooo disappointed!!! Ever since the last time I came I have been craving the cioppino. I finally found the perfect day to venture back over and it was GONE from the menu. It had been replaced with a bouillabaisse!!! After debating between the selections on the happy hour menu and the bouillabaisse I decided to try the cioppino’s replacement. The meal itself was very satisfying. Real crab meat, 4 large prawns, mussels, clams — pretty delish… But nothing will be able to take the place of the cioppino. I hope that one day they will bring it back!!! Besides that everything was great!

This one of the best restaurants in the area. The service is fantastic, very attentive. The macaroni cheese is one of my favorites and the tiramisu beignets are among the best desserts I have ever had.

This delightful haven in a sketchy industrial semi ghetto manages to be be both chic and delish. Service was top flight and every dish was popping with fresh flavor. Itss hip but not a manufactured way.

Interesting place! Seat yourself, and a good mix of Foods on the menu. Everything had good flavors and the service was decent! Try the shrimp polenta appetizer, incredible.

Just got off the phone with KIM to order a meal for pickup. It was our first time ordering so we had a few questions and she was SO helpful! Really patient as I asked about specific dietary restrictions and helpful with recommending what is best on the menu for two people with VERY different food preferences. I was so impressed, her customer service honestly made my night and I can’t wait to taste the food & will definitely be back to try out the place in person!!! :)

I read a lot of positive reviews and was hopeful this place would live up. It did. The staff is really attentive, friendly and unpretentious. I met a friend for dinner and drinks on a Friday. They have a nice selection of beers(none are on tap though). I am not a cocktail person but it looks like they make some fancy ones. I kept asking the bartender about each concoction they made over a few hours. I had the pork shanks for dinner, they were amazing. My friend had the Paella and he really enjoyed it as well. The décor was nice There is bar area, a dinner seating area and a couch setup in the corner. I will definitely come back again to try some of the other dishes they have to offer.

Always impressed with the food and service when we come here. I think you can order almost any of their appetizers and main entrees and not be disappointed. Their side salad is even impressive with generous amounts of shaved Parmesan. I can vouch for their tacos, baby back ribs, angus burger and veggie flatbread. Their cocktail menu is great, although a bit spendy, so I limit myself to one amazing cocktail and one cheap beer ;) Although they always keep a nice selection of local and craft beers as well. I love that they opened up in the Midland neighborhood and are killing it with their awesome food and great atmosphere. Nothing like it out that way, really!

Bar bistro is such a great restaurant. The food was fresh and the service was great. The happy hour menu is also great and cheap! Most items are $ 5. You have got to try the cool berry cocktail! It’s so refreshing and light.

Fantastic!!! Delicious, great service, neat atmosphere. It’s not what you’d expect for the location, but it blew us away. Mt husband was very skeptical at first, but the place won him over with their large selection of IPA’S and chorizo macaroni and cheese. I have ZERO complaints. I will go again and again!

I went here after having a full morning of traveling up to Seattle. I think it was on 3\7? 3\8\2016 I was greeted by a very kind older black man behind the bar. There was a total of 8 people in the front of the bar, to include a few managers having a meeting.(They would later go behind the bar and start taking inventory on a few things) The bar keep told me about the owners a bit, and how the place was many different things before they converted it to a bar. Kept the conversation light and entertaining while not making me think«Oh good lord, shut yer MOUTH!»(Come on, you know you have had a serve like that at some point in your life…) So with his recommendations, I start off with a crazy Italian soup that had lentils in it. I would have never attempted to try it… but much to my surprise I liked it. Damn near licked the color off the bowl. I managed to get there for Happy Hour: so I was ordering off that menu. Next up was the Bistro Mac and Cheese with Crab Clumps Very good, cheesy… a good portion of crab thrown on top. I got a lunch portion, so I’m glad I got an appetizer with the M&C. I would have been ready for something else. So, I’m from New Orleans: and I love me some Beignets. I see on the HH menu they have a S’Mores Version of Beignets. …and I mean REALLY… Who am I to deny my Inner Fat kid his dessert. I did finish my entire meal first… The S’mores were good. You can see the pictures: they come with marsh mellow fluff, and a lighter(but still rich tasting) peanut butter. I didn’t care for the PB portion, but the shaved chocolate and fluff, made the gram cracker coated french doughnut taste amazing. Was greatly surprised about this place. I would totally go back again.

Talk about a diamond in the rough! This bistro has the fine dining you expect from Seattle in a little town that looked as if it should be nestled in the foothills of Mt. Rainier. Walking in; the atmosphere is private, soothing and classy. Fireless candles add cheer to dark wood tables. Perfect for dates but relaxed enough for friends or buisness lunches. My best friend went to dinner on a Saturday night about 5. It wasn’t crowded and our waitress was attentive throughout our dinner; even when the place became packed. Our very friendly waitress answered our questions patiently and brought everything out very fast. I had a seafood stew that was fresh and had real crab meat. My friend had a bone in pork chop with potatoes and squash. Everything was incredible! Food so perfectly flavored you would rather eat then talk. Also, a strawberry rhubarb drink they serve is dazzling refreshing. Not to sweet and plenty of alcohol. Everything was reasonably priced and high quality. This place is worth the drive and is now one of my favorite reasturants.

I want to say this place is a ‘hidden gem’ but after seeing 170+ reviews on the place, I guess I was just wayyyyyy behind everyone else! I only discovered this place recently, when a girlfriend invited me out for dinner and drinks. I’ve driven by the place many times before but never noticed it. It’s essentially a little grey box, very unassuming from the outside. Which is why, once opening the doors and walking in, I was totally blown away. The atmosphere and décor is classy and inviting. It’s somewhat dark inside, but in that warm and cozy kind of way. I could see it being a great date spot. In my case, however, It was the perfect post-work destination. It had everything I needed after a crazy day: low lights, chill ambience, and… comfortable chairs.(Way more important than people recognize!) But it only gets better!!! Their drink menu is ah-mazing. Wine, beer, cider, cocktails… and very creative cocktails at that! I went boring(and cheap) and did the house cabernet which was surprisingly impressive for $ 5 – 6 a glass. My friend, who is gluten free, had one of their ciders. Don’t remember what kind but it was one the waiter recommended, and he was spot on. Food follows suit! They had a lot of vegetarian options which made this veggie head happy. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and was more than satisfied. Plate was basically licked clean. My friend got a big ol’ burger and she loved it. Seems to be her go-to here so if you’re into burgers, try theirs out. All in all, it was a great experience. There are so many appealing things on their menu that I can’t wait to go back, hopefully sooner rather than later. Give the place a try and thank me later.

If I would’ve reviewed my first visit here it wouldn’t have been a good one. First visit consisted of a very weak Mule, a knock off Cuban sandwich(you can’t call a Cuban and Cuban if you’re just serving a pulled pork sandwich just saying), and a $ 2 coffee that never got refilled. Thank God my Husband ordered differently from me that night, because I loved everything that he had, the soup and salad were very nice, whatever seafood dish he ordered was really good too; we ended our night with the BESTCREMEBRULEE that I had ever had. Thank goodness my husband had me try his food because I didn’t really like what I had, but I loved what he had. - I’ve been back a handful of times since, and they’ve only gotten better and better. The drinks that they create are wonderful(much better than the Mule I had the first time). I tried their seasonal items that have all been fantastic, AND my absolute favorite has been their shrimp and grits, such a good dish! This place is very consistent on what they serve too, it tastes the same afternoon or night. I’m still in love with their Crème Brulee, I have to order it every time. A working progress, but I love this place.
