Bear Wood Windows

I have a total of 3 windows made by Bear Wood. They make nice looking windows. But I have had a few issues with them as a company. The last issue I had was after my window was finally done after a extra 4 week delay, which I had to remind them. After installing the window I noticed a major imperfect in the glass. I was told they would send it back, but because I installed the window I would have to take it back out and bring it in. Not very customer friendly. After paying over $ 1000 for just one window you would think your buying a product that is perfect. They seemed very annoyed that I wanted to install my self. ITS NOT ROCKET SEICENCE TO INSTALL A WINDOW. Another window I purchased 10 years ago stopped working after 4 years, I never used this window. So I guess I would say the windows look good but just be careful, just because your paying top dollar does not mean your getting a top product.

We have a 1917 home with the original wood, single pane glass windows. We decided due to deterioration of glazing and the lack of energy efficiency to have them replaced with identical-​looking wood windows. Bear would also have restored the existing wood windows and glass, but we felt that we needed the extra insulation from double paned glass. They matched the interior stain to our original woodwork, but we (my husband in fact) decided we could do the exterior painting and the interior painting on the upstairs windows ourselves to save some money. We did, and it all turned out fine. The installation took an entire week, but they were installed beautifully and Bear was excellent about dealing with some problems from settling and some window frames being seriously out of plumb. One window was dinged somehow during installation and they promptly returned when we called and replaced it. I would not hesitate to use Bear again and would recommend them highly to anyone, especially if you have a historic home.
