Awwww! Not only is the coffee delicious, but I really love how everyone is sooooo nice!!! And now that I am a new mom I REALLY appreciate a family friendly spot! There’s a kiddie corner full of toys and whatnots, just a cool spot! 1st time here and the owner Christian socialized with everyone!!! Even capture a pic of him holding my babes Highly recommend

My new favorite coffee spot — just wished I lived closer! Great breakfast and lunch menu too! I’ll definitely plan my next day off around a great cup of coffee from this place.

Yes, I’ve come out of Unilocal retirement just to write this review! I had the good fortune to stay nearly across the street from this sweet, homey café. I ordered a latte and a breakfast sandwich, but wanted a substitute cheese. The very new counterperson hesitated, and I watched as the owner/manager gently let him know that was entirely possible, but with great respect and straightforward instruction. Next, after I’d gone to find my place, the same fellow came over and let me know that their lattes are typically 3 – 4 shots, and which did I want. I let him know that 3 – 4 shots would have me shaking, sweating, and generally bouncing off the walls, and he kindly offered to lower it to a double — apparently fearing for the safety of his establishment ;-). I just really like the vibe of this place, and their excellent, EXCELLENT coffee. After 3 trips in, I felt like a regular, being called by name, and offered my «usual»… What a great spot — on personality alone, it’s a winner. They feature local artists’ work for sale, so you can enjoy those along your great coffee and panini or pastry.(My son tells me you can get avocado toast«off-menu» and that it’s ‘tha bomb’)

Went here for the first time today, and I was really disappointed because it’s such a cute café. My aunt and I stood at the counter for a while looking at gluten free pastries for her to eat. I felt like at first no one really wanted to help us since it was obvious we had never been there before. We had to yell over to a guy to ask which was which since nothing was labeled. The guy had said” oh that’s triple berry muffin”– pointing at the muffin she had in her hand. I chose a blueberry regular gluten muffin for myself and she got the triple berry gluten free muffin– keep in mind all of the gluten free muffins are wrapped in plastic wrap and the gluten pastries are unwrapped. We were halfway down the block when she realized«there aren’t any berries in my muffin! Am I eating a gluten free or not??» We walked back and the guy who rung us up said«oh! I’m sorry there aren’t very many berries in your muffin!» … we pointed out –politely– there were absolutely NONE in the muffin at all. He wrapped up the muffin, pushed it back at us, and said«oh well I’ll make a note to the baker and say he invoiced us the wrong muffin.» We left and it wouldn’t have been so bad if he would have offered another option AND to add… the muffin, she tried to eat it anyway but it was just like dry yellow box cake. Sadly won’t be going back, there are plenty of other options where I can get more decent service.

This is still my top café in Tacoma, and I have tried most of them. Great atmosphere for work or socializing with an excellent menu. And the owner is super-nice and will make you anything your heart desires as a special order with great enthusiasm. Highly recommended!

So great! The coffee was a bit slow, but the taste made it worth it. Coffee was delicious. This is definitely a place where you want to sit back and take your time. The service was excellent and it’s a very kid friendly environment. Absolutely worth a visit.

This place. Oh how I wish I lived in the ‘hood so I could come here on the daily. Seriously. Upon entering you notice the local art on the walls for sale… Love. You see the prints of local art for sale on top of the beverage cooler. Love. On top the same cooler you see the wifi password… Bingo. I’ve heard all the rage about the amazingness of avocado toast and decided to try it out for myself… On gluten free bread. And because it’s Sunday Funday I also indulged in a Bellini. It took a bit for the drink to arrive but… Hello 90% bubs and 10% peach juice! The avocado toast was delicious. There’s not much more that can be said… Crispy crust, chewy inside… Lemony, salty, avocado-ey noms. But here’s what I really loved… There’s a kids play area… So while I waited I watched parents interacting with other parents, some who recognized each other from their children’s class… That’s a true neighborhood café. And something way more special than some amazeballs avocado toast. That’s community. Awesome.

I’ve been here three times: food and drink is decent, service is slow and uncaring. Left 100% tips for three drinks on Easter Sunday, one of which was a latte and not the Americano that was asked for. Our party sat outside with our drinks and some donuts from the local House of Donuts. Within a few minutes the manager or similar being couldn’t resist coming out to chastise us about bringing in outside food. One too many poor experiences here for me to willingly come back. Two stars for the good tasting food, three stars off for the amateur customer service.

Quite possibly the best latte I have had in the area. Superbly crafted. Roast level was perfect. The coffee note was rich and delicious without being overly roasty or bitter. This is how a latte should be done. We got the soup too which was good and tasted homemade. The sandwich(panini) was delicious as well. This place is dynamite. Full 5 stars, no regrets.

Cute neighborhood café right by Univ. of Puget Sound. There’s a good amount of street parking outside, and on a Friday afternoon around 3pm the café was only about half full. They have a pretty big menu of lattes, teas(some from Mad Hat Tea Co. too), and a bunch of food and pastries. My friend ordered a burrito and raved about it, and I ordered the monkey bread which was really sweet and yummy with my latte. This is one of the first places I’ve found that offer a Matcha latte and it was pretty decent — not as sweet as I’m used to but still good. They offer a lot of board games, and in the corner near the front they even have a kid’s play area — there were a couple kids playing while we were there(and thankfully they weren’t loud or anything). This is a great place to take your laptop and do some work, or have a coffee date with friends!

Great café to have a lunch date with a friend! I love the atmosphere of this place. It’s spacious, homey, a little divey, and eccentric. There are a bunch of board games and seating. There is also a play table for kids. The menu is very extensive here. They have a wide selection of beverages, pastries, and food(on a separate menu). I got the spinach burrito and mocha. The mocha was decorated with a heart shape on the cream, and the coffee itself was smooth and delicious. The food took a little long, but it was very good. Each bite of the burrito was flavorful and was very well cooked. Some spinach burritos can be very mushy but this one was perfect! The customer service here is of the highest quality. The baristas are very friendly and would check up on everyone every so often. There are plenty of outlets and they also have WiFi here. Great café to bring your laptop and get some work/studying done. It seems that this place can fill up very quickly. I came here around 2 pm on a Friday and it was very quiet with a few customers — by 3 it was packed!

I was looking for a place nearby work that served breakfast sandwiches all day and where I could sit around and use wifi until I needed to return to work. I’m glad I found Café Brosseau I ordered an Americano and it was delicious. Occasionally, I get an Americano so good that I don’t need to doctor it. This was one of those times. The espresso was strong but not bitter and overall very balanced. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg, spinach and bacon. It was served panini style and was delicious. The bread was crunchy and soft and the eggs were fluffy. They have a decent sized breakfast food menu with maybe four of these sandwich options and some burrito options. The service was great. The baristas were extremely friendly and brought my food and coffee out to me, which was unexpected but really nice. The atmosphere is pretty cool. Slightly divey and artsy, but earnest, not pretentious. There are a lot of toys and games. When I arrived there were about 6 or so noisy children, so it’s something to consider if that is disruptive to you. There are not a lot of outlets that I could see, so it also might not be the best place to work for more than a couple hours. The entrance wall is all window and there are two other large windows, so a lot of light even when it’s gloomy. Whenever I get another unexpected break in the day and I’m hungry, this will be the first place that I think of!

Went here for the first time with the mother in law. The staff was very friendly and helpful and everything we had was delicious and delivered promptly. I had a cappuccino and one of the hot dogs(can’t remember the name). We both enjoyed the casual relaxed atmosphere and plan on returning again. If I may offer some constructive feedback, some fresh fruit would be a nice option. Doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Just some apples/bananas would be perfect!

I love it here so much. We have been coming weekly for mother/daughter dates. My 2 year old enjoys picking out a book for me to read to her while she devours a chocolate croissant. Their customer service is outstanding. After a few visits their staff remembered us & they are so great w/children. There’s a small table w/toys so I can sit and enjoy a coffee. The pickles that come w/their sandwiches are so good and today I tried avocado toast!

Lovely, welcoming, tasty! The staff here are amazing. My husband is lactose & gluten free; in ordering they did all to accommodate his needs. The coffee was delicious as was the panini. This little café has a vibe of being very chill… the seats were full of people studying and a frequented family meeting place. Very relaxed atmosphere and sweet staff! We will return!!!

I’m loving their Pumpkin Latte with Pumpkin flavored whip topping, their pumpkin drinks are the best that I’ve found in Tacoma this year! The food options are always getting better and better. I still just love this little place, and so do my kids, they just love the games, and they love that they feel welcomed! I love how kid friendly this place is!

I really wanted to like this place, I have read a bunch of good reviews and stopped to try it out. I just want to point out that I just like coffee, French press, Americano and sometimes an occasionally latte and I did try any food. So the place is cozy inside, the location is nice and the staff was very friendly. Anyhow, I went in and asked if they had any brewed coffee, I was informed no. I asked about French press and I was informed that they just made some and it was still in the French press container. So here is the coffee snob in me, anyone that knows anything about coffee knows that once you brew your French press it is to go immediately into your cup or thermos and not sit on the beans. If the water remains on the beans it becomes bitter and obviously cold. The coffee was ok So I guess if you like lattes and«fancy» coffees this place might be right up your alley, but my standard coffee place is still Cosmonaut Coffee in the Stadium district.

Have wanted to check this place out for a while and today was the perfect rainy day to grab a warm lunch! They have a good, extensive menu of drinks, food, and sweets/pastries. We were there for lunch and ordered the caprese sandwich and the avocado toast which was a daily special. Both were delicious and hit the spot for a warm cozy meal. They also have homemade soups(I believe they rotate daily?) but we didn’t try them this time. The coffee menu was extensive and lots of people were ordering coffee however it was a little late in the day for us. They also have a nice selection of tea from Mad Hat and the pastries are from Corina… both fabulous downtown Tacoma businesses. They also have a small play area for kids and a large selection of board games. Will definitely try them again… maybe for breakfast next time… they also had breakfast sandwiches on the menu!
