Cultura Event Center

The most unprofessional «event center» ever. We booked the place for a reunion and found out less than 24 hours before our event that we had been double booked and had to cut our event 2 hours short. IF YOU ARE AN EVENT CENTER YOUR ONLY JOB IS TO SCHEDULE BOOKING. IT SHOULDN’T BE THAT DIFFICULT. We were told we would be refunded $ 500 for cutting the event short, which we agreed with.
When we got there at the scheduled time to set up for the event, no one was there to let us in. The staff was rude, unprofessional, and just sat around eating their food before they felt like getting up and setting up our tables etc. During the event we had zero help from the staff with the audio equpiment, sound system etc. They turned on the music and were no were to be found for the rest of the night. Every time we needed the music turned down to use the mic, we had to wait 15+ minutes for someone to help us. By then we didn’t have a need anymore.
Before our agreed upon time to leave (since we were forced to leave early) they were setting up for the next event, closing our bar tabs etc. We didn’t even get to stay until the agreed upon time. They had the next event ready to go before our guests had even left… leaving no time to check the area/​clean etc. for our deposit.
It is a month and a half after our event and we are still waiting to receiving our deposit/​refund money for the time cut short. We have called the owner, left messages, sent emails, and even drove down to Tacoma from Seattle multiple times to sort this out. Marvin has scheduled times with us and not called back or shown up. After driving down there a month later we received part of it and were told he would mail the rest on a certain date. Still no proof of that. It is BEYOND unprofessional. So shady and I’m appalled this ‘business’ is still functioning. If they can’t pay back deposits etc. they are clearly hurting for money, and should NOT BE TRUSTED!
PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS EVENT CENTER FOR AN IMPORTANT EVENT! If something like this would have happened for a wedding for example, I can’t imagine how devastating that would be. Avoid them at all costs.

Only time I went was I for a friends friends wedding … I ended up misplacing my phone I swore I sat right on the bar so me and 4 other people spent over a he looking. So the next day I access my «find your phone» feature on iCloud, sure enough pins right to the bar. Email the owner as they are closed he tells me he will check and shortly follows up with a «nope no phones found.» I reply with a screenshot of iCloud and 20 min later I get a «oh yeah your phones here I can meet you mon@10:00. I am promptly there at 10 and no one inside, I wait 20 min a chef comes out that rents the space part time and takes me in to find it sitting behind the bar. 3 hours later I get a email saying «I’m here «which I told him I had already been helped. Such shadiness and unprofessionalism that I vowed to never go back and never did. Not only that but their shitty drinks were extremely overpriced and I was way over charged mainly drinks I never ordered. So beware. I miss the factory and hope someone takes this great space over and revamp it and adjust pricing accordingly.

I’m surprised that this place is still open. I haven’t been to this place since it was Station 56 and now I’m not sure I’ll ever return. Supposedly, this place will cater to your specific event however, they are seriously lacking when it comes to options.
My wife and I attended a comedy show there on Saturday night March the 14^th 2015. There’s a three step process to get in the door. First they check your ID and strap a bracelet on your wrist. Next, if you’re a woman, feel free to pack whatever weapons you want in your purse or on your person because they’ll just let you waltz right in. If you’re male however, be prepared to get frisked.
After your initial screening, you can enter and present your tickets and check your coat if you choose at this classy establishment.
Then you’ll enter a giant cold empty space with a large bar with a very limited selection.
This place has absolutely no beers on tap and the selection of bottled beers is terrible. They charge $ 9.00 for well drinks and they have one waitress who has no idea what she’s doing.
We’d been busy all day and hadn’t had the opportunity to eat dinner so we decided to order food at the venue.
The menu has about 7 items on it. I ordered a burger with fries and my wife got a hummus plate. When the food came to our table, there were no utensils, no napkins, no condiments. There wasn’t even salt and pepper. I can’t say anything nice about the food either.
After the comedy show that was severely rushed was over, the entire audience had the option of either leaving or going to an upstairs loft area so that they could make room for their next event.
This place is unfriendly, overpriced and generally unwelcoming to it’s patrons.

I had my wedding reception here and everything turned out so awesome. We chose this venue for two reasons. The first was because of the building’s unique character of old brick with wood beams which made for an awesome atmosphere. The second reason was because Cultura did not require us to use their «contracted» caterer. If you are looking for a venue for an event, be weary of contracted or preferred caters… we found that these caters hiked their prices and were not flexible with their services. By using Cultura for our reception, we were able to shop around for caterers and find one that cared about customer service. On our wedding night, Marvin transformed Cultura into an amazingly beautiful venue. When we walked in and saw the finished product, both my wife and I were blown away. It was the prefect mix of elegance and fun! I really enjoyed everything they did to help us make our reception a night to remember and kick off our marriage with the most amazing celebration with friends and family. I cannot say enough of how thankful I am that we chose to have our reception here. Thank you Marvin for all your help!

So 99% of the staff that work here are all great, friendly and good fun. The problem is that the management do not like paying for peoples services. Its My fault really as I should have asked for payment upfront but im a trustful person who understands keeping good working relationships with clients. Unfortunately that obviously isnt the same belief or work ethic that this venue has. Shame as most the staff and dj’s as i said are very helpful. Visit as a customer but DO NOT do any kind of service or contrat work for this company.

This venue did a really good job of smoothing over a rough start with one of their nights… Kudos to you
