Being an auto mechanic shop is a tough grind these days. Everybody’s costs are rising. It’s difficult to hear, «well sir (or madame) your vehicle needs $ 2500.00 in repairs.» The truth is though that maintaining your vehicle is much less expensive than buying a new one every few years. That’s why I go to Dodds. Have been for over a decade now. Much less expensive than the dealership and honest. «Hey look you don’t need these repairs in the next 6 months or a year but this one here we’d recommend to do now.» I appreciate that kind of stuff. I’ve had a repair or two not quite satisfy me over the years and they always tell me to come right back so they can check it out and clear it up. Great family runs it and I’d recommend them easily.

I would not recommend this shop. When I took the car in to have a stud replaced they told me at first that they would have to send the car out for the stud to be pressed. They told me this process would take four hours and that I would have to return to the shop and leave my car. When I returned to the shop to have the work done they immediately put the car up in their shop and began working on it. So why did I have to bring it back? I had already arranged with a friend to pick me up. Their customer service is terrible. The second time I went into the shop the guy behind the desk took forever to even acknowledge that I was there. And then it became apparent that the guy that helped me the first time had not effectively transferred information about the job on my car. Also keep in mind that while I was in the shop for the second time they had Fox News on the television blasting so loud that I could hardly hear the guy behind the desk when he asked me questions. The information on Fox News was very negative and disturbing, not something I would recommend for a shop doing business with the public. Add to that a conversation with another customer who made racist remarks in the conversation with the gentleman behind the desk. I don’t plan to return to the shop.

Old-​school way of doing business! They take their time and do it right! They took care of me and my old truck and I’ll be going back again should I need more work done anytime soon! Great work and great prices!

What a great experience.
I was referred by another very well respected automotive mechanic shop in the area when my original choice wasn’t able to fit me in. I was looking at a used car for our daughter and had Dodds do the checkup. Not only were they able to fit me in with my very narrow time constraint, they did a detailed inspection and had it done within the hour. They walked me through what they’d found on the phone (I was in Seattle) and gave me a very honest opinion and realistic quote for the work that would be needed. In addition to all of the above, they refused to charge me anything for their work! I really couldn’t believe it.
Though we decided against that particular vehicle, I will definitely keep Dodds in my phone as a «go-​to» shop for the Tacoma area and would recommend them without reservation.
