Well, it turns out they were in the process of going out of business. While I feel bad for them, they shouldn’t have given clients the run around and just owned up to what was going on.

Phone number disconnected? Lights off and no one in but no sign indicating why(during regular business hours?) Are these guys going out of business? I just need to get my glasses adjusted!

i have mixed feelings about my visit. i found staff to be tired, old, and boring. they weren’t rude, but not quite pleasant either. i had an assistant analyze my eyes which is odd considering the last place i went to, the doctor did it all. the doctor himself was odd, and had an awkward way of conversing. he chose the weirdest topics and made me feel super uncomfortable. he is super pessimistic about life and had plenty of complaints about his personal life and others that I did not care to listen to. I like supporting Tacoma businesses but i doubt i will return again just because of my odd experience. They did a bad job of welcoming me there. I prefer businesses with people skills.

I have been a patient of the Downtown Vision Center for about 9 years now. I love this place, Dr. McDowall is actually a optometrist not just a «optician» the difference is one is actually a Doctor! So you get a actual exam on your eyes! Dr. McDowall is always very thorough and he is a very nice guy… always keeps a good conversation going while you are feeling stupid trying to read the little tiny letters on the wall! They have a great selection of frames if you are in the market for them, and the ladies assisting you will be honest if you put on a pair that look awful! And the turnaround time to get your glasses or contacts is always fast! Right now the streets around 9th and Broadway are going through construction so parking can be a bit nasty. So as long as I am in need of visual assistance I will trust my eyes the the staff here!
