This is my second report on «Eco-insulate.» I was relatively kind in my first review. I said that their company and product were good ideas; I said that they were a young business with promise — Bur now, they refuse to answer my calls; they will not come out and inspect their shoddy workmanship, and, worst of all they still will not fix the damage they have caused. The issue is this: one of our homes greatest assets is its siding(1“x 16″ rough cut 16 foot long cedar planks). I told them that if they could not do the job without damaging this unique siding, I did not want them to do it. They said that this kind of siding would actually make it easier to remove the boards. However, the damage to the siding was so severe, that there were, by actual count, at least 60 holes on each side of our house. These holes needed to be filled in with their putty. But not only was the siding damaged, the whole house, which did not need to be painted now badly needs to be painted. Moreover, the putty they used was water soluble and could not be pressure washed to prepare the surface for painting. I think, at the very least, that they should prep and paint my house. But, «We are not a painting company,» they whined. Then they should hire someone to paint this old house. I have to admit, to begin with; they appeared to be sympathetic. They said that they would custom cut boards to match my siding at their new lumber mill. When I accepted this offer, they went into silent running. I am not holding my breath waiting for the lumber to arrive. This company did a bad job and now they won’t fix it.

I needed insulation replacement in my mid century home due to an accident and water damage. Interviewed four companies, and all were good, all in the same ballpark as for price. Brett, the owner, came out to chat with me and my better half and we found him to be pleasant, knowledgeable, candid and fun. We talked about different types of insulation, cellulose, fiberglass, etc, benefits of both and recommendations as to our Northwest climate. After consideration of all the companies(and I don’t think I would have gone wrong with any of them), I chose Ecoinsulate Northwest. Booked our appt for a certain day and it had to be rescheduled but that was OK with me. Eric Spry does all the appointments and he kept me apprised of everything along the way, by email and by phone. On the rescheduled day, the two installers showed up on time, with materials and went about their job. They were respectful of our home, and did a good job of cleaning up after their work was completed. I did not see the two negative reviews on this company before I hired them, but I did NOT have the same experience as they did. So I can recommend them to others without hesitation. Sometimes things happen that can’t be helped, jobs take longer than anticipated and I realize that it may be an inconvenience to be rescheduled but they were good about explaining why and I understood. Good experience here!

Horrible experience. They are very nice, and very flakey. It took a few tries before I could meet anybody in person, and then I booked the appointment(a week or two in advance). I paid a 50% deposit. The evening before my appointment was scheduled(at 9am the next day), Eric Spry called to tell me they had another job to finish in the morning, and asked if they could come at 1pm instead. I said sure. I moved everything away from the attic access door, made sure everything was accessible, and had made advance plans to work from home. After 1pm(my second appointment time), Eric called to tell me they’d «hit a snag» at a Seattle job, and they couldn’t make it. I asked for my deposit back. Hoping that happens soon, so I can start the process over and find a company that has a better grasp on their schedule, and cares for their clients’ time.
