We were at a cheer competition on Saturday and needed food! Marriott Hotel recommended Evergreen Café to us. We arrived nearly at closing time, but the staff there were fabulous and said they would make us whatever we wanted from the menu. Flatbreads were so tasty and the sandwich was full of thick avocado slices. The staff were so friendly and engaging, even though they were cleaning up getting ready to close. We are back in Tacoma soon for another competition and this is the first place we will visit!

The food was really good, I would have liked to give this place five stars. However, the staff made the experience one which will keep me and my friends from going back. To begin, though there were three or four people working, we were ignored as we tried to ask questions. When we ordered, though I ordered first(not a hot sandwich) my friends’ food arrived a good 7 minutes earlier than mine. When the first sandwich came up, the server was hollering something into the room. Because of poor sound design(the place is really loud, even with only a few people in it), we couldn’t hear what she was hollering. When we realized she was hollering the name of a sandwich, my friend raised her hand. The server came over, without a glance at us, and tossed the sandwich onto the table. As we ate our lunch, we watched the waitstaff stomp around the room with unhappy faces, making a point not to look at any customer — maybe in case they asked something of them. As to cleanliness… the floors were covered with bits of food. The tables were not cleaned off. And the bathroom was a storm of overflowing trash, splashed water, and overall grubbiness. I’d like to point out it wasn’t busy when we were there. We arrived mid-afternoon and there were only six other customers in the restaurant(all of whom were close to done with their food). If they could get better customer service, clean up the place, and do something about the terrible noise logistics — this would be a great place.

Had an unfortunate experience this morning with an employee. We paid for 2 breakfast sandwiches and she only made one and when she asked us if we were waiting on something we told her and she proceeded to roll her eyes at us like it was our fault that we were waiting on more food. I was able to tell another employee who said she would go talk to her. I’ve never really had an issue here before and it makes me sad when I get treated like that when the receipt clearly said 2 breakfast sandwiches. I think some of the employees here need to go through a customer service training again. We understand it’s early because we’re here too but it is no reason to treat others so rudely.

Wife and I stopped in here after taking our son to the children’s museum next door. Grilled cheese sandwiches were huge, and I had one of the best french dips I’ve ever tasted. Wait staff was friendly and played around with our son too. Will definitely come back next time we’re downtown.

Hubby and I went in this morning for some breakfast. Like most restaurants these days they are using egg product instead of real eggs so I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and hubby had the breakfast apple fritter which consisted of an apple fritter cut in half with ham inside. My bagel had mold on it and the fritter was«OK which for my husband means gross. He later had a stomach ache. The staff was indifferent at best. No one said hello when we came in and no one said thank you when we left. We will not go back.

What a great find!!! I work in Fife, where there is nothing good to eat, so this is the perfect place for lunch and well worth the short drive! They have an amazing variety of sandwiches, salads, and wraps. I have not tried them all… BUT everything I have tried has been amazing! The owners appear to take a lot of pride in making sure that you leave happy, full, and wanting to come back! I have been to Evergreen Café numerous times and have ALWAYS had an exceptional experience and cannot wait to go back!

The baristas don’t know how to pull a shot so any espresso drink tastes like burnt coffee. The last time I was in, my raspberry mocha tasted like cough syrup. When I approached who I later learned was the manager to request a different drink I was informed«we don’t remake it just because you don’t like it.» Needless to say I haven’t been back since. On the food side the employees are too busy chatting amongst themselves to provide decent customer service. Also, they boast of having never needed to raise prices but they have cut most portion sizes in half so it’s kind of the same thing. Overall, due to horrible coffee and an incredible lack of customer service, it’s worth walking a couple blocks in either direction to find a different café.

The food is ok. But the worst service ever. In the middle of making my food, she went to chat with customer and throw my order to trash forgot about it until 15 min later I went to check out!

I have been a daily visitor to Evergreen Café since they opened their doors almost a year ago. I work in the area, and prefer their coffee to the several other shops within a block or two of the business. Ali, Jordan, Ruth, Crystal and Toni are an amazing team.

I love the Evergreen Café! Their good is great, the staff is friendly, and they have special donuts on Fridays! It’s down town tacoma though so of course there’s no where to park, be creative! ;D

Gone here a few times, the service was a bit iffy at at first but has definitely been improving. I usually get the turkey avocado wrap, but I have tried some other sandwiches and they were good too. Also, this is a easy place to go if you work in or near downtown tacoma and can walk here. However, if you’re driving here parking will be an issue.

I’m coming to like this place more and more. The Mango Chuteny Sandwich is delicious and a unique vegetarian sandwich. The customer service seems to have gone up.

Lots of negative reviews here. Evergreen Café fills my exact need of wanting a salad for lunch within walking distance of work. Their salads are customizable, are made to order, and include fresh ingredients; all for about $ 7. As far as the service, I wouldn’t say they go out of their way to be extremely welcoming, but they get the job done and I know I’ll wait less than 5 minutes for them to make my salad. I’m from the east coast mentality of efficiency over hospitality. I haven’t had anything else nor have I attempted to come aside from M-F lunch, so it fills the need for me!

Convience brought me here while in town for work. I gave Evergreen two chances. The first was breakfast. I ordered the breakfast sandwich. It was microwaved to lukewarm at best. Then second chance was lunch the same day. This time I ordered the chicken ceaser from the deli. There was so much dressing on the wrap that it literally dripped out in huge globs. It was super strong and even after opening the wrap and wiping as much off as I could it was not consumable and went in the trash.

This place is awesome! I rate it as a 5 because I don’t have to worry about parking like others, since I work in the area and just walk there on a lunch break or other break. The staff are all very friendly, the coffee(currently serving Seattle’s Best) is great, they make a quick and great coffee — with lots of fun flavors to put on(your own white chocolate powder, mini marshmallows, coconut flakes, and more). I got a carrot cake muffin — yum! Prices are decent too! This was just on the coffee side. They have a whole separate section with premade sandwiches, salads, fruit and veggie cups — as well as custom made sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, hot dogs, etc. They have quite the extensive menu. They also have specialty days — BBQ Mondays(I haven’t yet tried), Biscuit and gravy Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Pancake Wednesday, Chili Dog Thursday. Their sandwiches are unique combinations you don’t see at all the other sub shops. Variety of breads from Hoagie to Marble Rye to Cibatta, Sour Dough and Wheat. Mango chutney sauce, honey mustard along with the standard sauces. They have lots of melts too for those who like a toasty sandwich. I’ve only tried one of these(the ABC Melt, bacon, chedder, granny smith apple, honey mustard on sourdough). The taste was awesome, but I will request it be toasted more next time. It was barely a light brown, but the flavor combination was delicious! Their wraps include Buffalo Chicken wrap, Asian Chicken Salad Wrpas, and many more. Many different types of tortillas as well, spinach, tomato, tomato basil, or flour. Prices are quite reasonable with around $ 4.99-$ 6.00 for most items. I will be back!

One word comes to mind, and that’s «AWFUL». 1. Awful location, very hard to find parking. 2. Awful customer service. The employees were more interested in their personal conversation than engaging in conversations with the customers, and the barista just set my coffee on the counter, and didn’t bother to inform me that my coffee was ready, she was not friendly at all, very unpleasant, not what I want to be around. 3. Awful coffee. I’ve had bad coffee, and I’ve still managed to drink it, this coffee was so bad I couldn’t even stomach it, it was plain awful. Someone please help this business, because they’re in dire need of change. What a waste of my money, and time.
