Went here for sushi with a friend and this is the worst sushi restaurant(in my opinion). The woman serving our table was rude. The salmon in my sushi was brown and chewy. The avocado in my other roll was rotten. I didn’t eat my meal. In fact, my friend didn’t eat her rolls either. It was frightening. This is fish ! Raw fish ! If I could give it negative stars, I would.

Not much to write about. Went in about 130 on a Saturday. Waited 5 minutes and no employee was in the front or kitchen. I left. Another time I ate there, I asked for hard noodles and the waitress acted like I was asking for something free. It’s interesting that there is still a language barrier in today’s world

My husband and I do like coming here, but like many people have said the wait is outrageous. We call for take out — the standard answer we seem to receive is 15 – 20 minutes, so like good little stewards we run up there within the time frame. Most times when we arrive, they have not even started to make our food. Usually there is one person as the waitress and one person in the kitchen. If the kitchen person has to go and make sushi– the wait is even longer. That being said, we love the bento boxes and the sushi and we keep coming back for more even though the wait takes an eternity. My tip– if they tell you 20 minutes, wait forty, then head up there.

Seems decent, decent prices, lady was nice… But an order to go took 40 minutes! Way too slow vs the average teriyaki place in the area… Hopefully the food will be worth it. Ordered a basic chicken teriyaki and basic pork/chicken teriyaki combo… I’ll change this if the food is worth the wait! EDITED: food was worth the wait, and the wait was a misunderstanding as an employee thought they were getting ready to close soon and shut off the grill… Once it got started back up and our food was cooked. It was great!

Love this place. My kids request to eat their every time we come to Tacoma. All the food is cooked made to order with fresh ingredients. Friendly service and nice atmosphere adds to the experience. Highly recommend trying this restaurant. Reasonably priced also. My kids get bento boxes and I order sushi or chicken chow main. A cup of soup is served wile you wait. Yummy!

I went here on a Friday at 7 pm. There was one single customer there. The lady who I suspect is the owner was running the whole thing by herself. Naturally it took her about 5 min to come out of the kitchen and notice us. Then we ordered and my mom asked for light sauce on her yakisoba. The lady proceeded to argue with my mom that there is no sauce on that dish and that«you won’t like it. Better order something else.» Are you kidding me? The thing that really bugged me most about my experience, however, was that we simply asked what her estimate of when the order would be ready was and she stated that she didn’t know. Seems very apathetic about her own establishment. Needless to say, we canceled our order and walked out.

My Wife and I used to frequent Fusion Bento on a semi-regular basis when we lived nearby. No its a bid of a drive so we only are able to partake every once in a while. I personally enjoy the homey feel and her willingness to provide me with tasty vegetarian options. Also great for couples when one wants sushi and the other wants Chinese. Argument avoided!

The place its self is very nice as in clean and comfortable. Earth tones with limited japanese art prints. Booths and tables in the middle with a small sushi bar.casual. The price is standard. not to bad and not too pricey. Esp previously considering we had the lunch vents which are always a good deal. The service… to put it in context. There is only one person working as both server and cook. She was not insult, but with an ugly tone. First no one is there to attend to us for about five minutes and when she finally comes out she its surprised to see new customers. We let her know we are ready and replies, «well I’m not ready!» And walks off. We stayed and were patient. She takes our order, brings or Good and then my husband asks for some eel sauce, and gives him attitude for asking and says I’ll bring you teriyaki sauce. Sure it’s similar, but what attitude. I hope she can afford help with better customer service. The food was ok. The bento box came with your choice of protein(chicken teriyaki and katsu is what we ordered) rice, small salad, tempura veg, and your choice of 4 piece California roll or sushi. It had good flavor not too greasy the Katsu nor the tempura. Salad typical American lettuce carrot cabbage store bought mix. it was good, but not great.

This listing has false information. They do not deliver and it seems they have not for a while. They should update their listing. I did let the restaurant know that their listing has delivery at selected, so hopefully they update pretty soon.

Seems like a friendly neighborhood place. Kind of had the vibe that since I was not a regular, I was not welcome. I did not get a chance to try anything on the menu because they were understaffed and backed-up so I left because I was really hungry. Being that I did not order anything, I can’t do a review on their food. This review is based on customer service. I give 2 stars, 1 for saying hi and I’ll give 1 for half a smile since I cannot give half a star. I did not feel welcome here so I won’t be returning.

I just went to Fusion Bento Asian Grill(a small teriyaki place) on a Friday night around 7:45PM I and we didn’t get our chicken teriyaki dinners until over 45 minutes later! I don’t understand why the kitchen took so long, it was a little busy, but when we came in everyone there already had their food. The food was okay, but it was NOT worth the wait and there was no warning or apology for the extra long wait… I won’t be going back.

There’s a lot of impatient picky eaters around here. Although Fusion Bento may not taste authentic, it is still really good food. Plus, the service is good. The owner is a very nice lady. The only time I’ve had to wait a little longer was when there was a crowd.(Yes, this place can bring in a crowd) I’ve brought friends and my girlfriend here and they’ve all fell in love with this place. P/S: the Yummy yummy roll is DELICIOUS!

I went here last week with the fam. I really liked the service that was provided to us. The soup they give you at the beginning is awesome and then we did some egg rolls for appetizer which were really good. For entrée we did the family platter with lomein and everything was great except for the orange chicken, never been a fan of it. I definitely want to go back here again :-).

Last month my friend came over with Chinese food that he said he got from a new place he’d discovered in North Tacoma. It wasn’t half bad – I have been searching for a good place to get kung pao chicken since Happy Dragon closed, without having to drive all the way to South Tacoma(to Three Sisters, which is as good as getting it in China). North China Garden is gross so I was really happy that he found an alternative. Last night I had a craving for Chinese again and decided to venture out on my own to try to find the same place he’d discovered, and upon searching Unilocal I decided it must have been from Fusion Bento. Fusion Bento is a little restaurant located in a strip mall next to Albertson’s on Pearl St. My first impression was that it seemed a little dingy – no frills décor, or rather no actual décor to speak of. However, some of the best food I’ve ever tasted has come from little hole-in-the-wall places so I didn’t put any value on the atmosphere. I was more interested in the food. A very friendly woman greeted me from behind the sushi bar, at which she was in the middle of slicing raw salmon. She asked if I wanted to place a «to-go» order, and when I indicated«yes», she proceeded to walk over to the cash register, and with her raw-salmon hands, grabbed a menu and handed it to me! Then, without washing, went right back to slicing the rest of the salmon! Eww! I knew this was not a good sign as far as cleanliness standards are concerned, and had I not already enjoyed my meal from there a month prior I would have just turned around and left. But, remembering that the kung pao chicken was decent, and realizing that she was the sushi chef and the rest of the food was made in the kitchen behind her – hopefully made by people who did not touch dirty menus before cooking it – I ordered anyway. It took about 25 minutes for my order to arrive, which I didn’t mind too much. I brought home kung pao chicken with extra spice, and some chicken chow mein. The chow mein was completely flavorless. The noodles were gummy and the whole thing just tasted oily and a little salty. The kung pao chicken was very strange: It was sitting in this thick and very sweet tasting sauce! It was hot – not spicy, as in spicy-tasting – just hot. And the strangest thing: the peanuts had no taste. Where does one find peanuts that don’t taste like peanuts? I guess at Fusion Bento. I phoned my friend and told him the story. He started laughing, and said, «no, no I got that from the Teriyaki place on Proctor!» «You got that from a Teriyaki place?» I asked. «They have Chinese too,» he replied. To the point that Tasha M wrote in her review, I’d even say that the China Express food from Safeway is actually BETTER than this grimy stuff. And, I too have the leftovers in the fridge right now and can’t bring myself to eat them. Yuck!

The décor is more upscale than many family-owned restaurants. We ordered teriyaki chicken and soup which were delivered quickly. Both entrees were lacking flavor but palatable. I’d give the restaurant a 3 at this point. Then things got bad. While I was pouring the hot tea, an older lady yelled at me, telling me I wasn’t holding the pot correctly. The pot, according to her, was made in Japan so it had a defective lid. I re-poured the tea, holding the lid. She yelled at me again, saying«you still don’t get my joke, you’re not smart»! The lady left and came back a few minutes later, much calmer. She clarified that she was Korean and Koreans don’t like Japanese. And again said I wasn’t smart. It might be a cultural thing, but the demeanor of the lady made me very uncomfortable. Why would I pay to have a stranger yell at me and accuse me of not being smart?

My experience with Fusion Bento was entirely positive. For dinner I had the Chicken Teriyaki & Katsu combo plate. I have to give them props on taste, quantity, presentation, and promptness. One of my jobs as a young man was working my way up from doing dishes, through salad prep, to waiting tables and working banquets. One of the biggest lessons I learned is that inconsistency is death to a restaurant. You can be good, or bad, but as long as the customer knows what to expect you’ll usually get a loyal clientele. I’ll be going back to Fusion Bento to see for myself and update my review accordingly. Based on my first experience, they are a winner.
