Great date or special occasion spot. The ambiance was soft and romantic. The food was divine. Prices were fair and ran around $ 20 – 30 per plate but portions were large enough and tasty enough to warrant a little more. The place is very small so I would highly recommend a reservation. We will be returning to try some of the desserts!

I loved the food here, and would have given this a 4 star rating if not for the prices. The wait to get in here on a Saturday night was 3 weeks. So the business is booming. If they took their prices down I could see this becoming my go to date night spot. The ambiance was very private and romantic. The wine list was great and with things like duck with cherry reduction on the menu, it was excellent. Another in our party had zuchini lasagna and for me that was the nights winner. It had a veal sausage in it that was to die for with a mild spice. Dessert cannot be skipped. I highly recommend the warm hummingbird cake. The smores get 5 stars with the homemade peanut butter truffle inside. We will go back, but more of an anniversary restaurant with prices like these.

I believe one of the keys to success for great restaurants is consistency and Over The Moon is exactly that. The food is always impressive, the atmosphere is very comfortable and the service is by far the best in Tacoma. Can’t stay enough about this place but I can without a doubt if you haven’t ate here then you are missing amazing food.

Had dinner here last evening w/my better half, celebrating her birthday. Once again it was Over the Top! Meals were amazing, waitress was spot on, and ambiance was perfect. We both loved every minute, and we’ll certainly be back! 5STARS all the way.

(Revised from 2⁄10) 0/10, would only come here again if a group majority wants to eat here but I’d eat before and stick to drinks and salad. TL;DR: for $ 40/person, this should have been an amazing meal, not one that makes me feel queasy for 12 hours after. Go somewhere else that has good ratings. This is my second time at Over the Moon, and I have not been impressed either time. I started with a beet salad, which was nice until there was too much sweet. Beets AND candied nuts? My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad though. Then we received our main course, chicken for me and salmon for him. My chicken was so difficult to saw through that I barely took 3 bites before giving up. I should have asked for a sharp knife, and that’s on me. The meat reminded me of the consistency of meat when cooked before it has completely thawed. I took my meal home to try with a steak knife instead of finishing it there, but the way I woke up this morning, I’m tossing it in the garbage. My husband rates the salmon at 8.5÷10. For these three reasons, I will not be returning: — I do not believe this is a well thought out or properly executed menu. The flavors clash. «In season vegetables» in May is not French beans and carrots from Costco. — I could bake a giant, bland, frozen Tyson chicken breast at home for less. — The quality of food warrants half the price, less if it isn’t cooked safely. People who like this place must also like Shakabrah. And Chuck E Cheese pizza. I’d rather eat at DOA, Matador, Marrow, Hilltop Kitchen circa 2015, or the Red Hot. This isn’t in the top 90% of good food in Tacoma.

We went here for my Mom’s birthday dinner. The service was fine, nothing out of this world. I would describe their menu as «elevated comfort food.» The shepherds pie was incredible. My mom enjoyed her seafood pasta. The wedge salad was not good at all. It was over-dressed and just not refreshing in anyway. My mom enjoyed her pear/spinach salad. I think I’d return here for a special dinner on a cold, fall or winter day.

Incredible. You will be delighted by the food, wine selection, ambiance and service. Every meal here has been wonderful. I’m in Tacoma almost every month, and always dine here when I’m there. I suggest reservations, they are very popular.

I’m vegan and the waitress was super supportive and informative. We found great options for me. They had a root soup that has a base of primarily butternut squash, turnips and parsnips. It was very flavorful with a peppery back flavor. Being from the south I struggle to find food in Washington that isn’t bland. This certainly wasn’t! I got a vegan portobello sandwich that was fabulous with a really nice side of potato salad that complimented it well. This was followed up with a bite of their Gluten-free Jamaican cake. I say only a bite because I was very full and had to get it to go. The service was great. The place is clean and quaint with nice music in the background. This place is a small jewel. Call ahead or go online and make reservations as they only have 13 tables. You won’t be disappointed.

I heard rave reviews from friends so I made a reservation for our anniversary. At first menu glance, honestly I thought it would be a busy because the items were not things I would typically order. However, I got the shepherds pie and my husband got the lamb shank and both were incredible. We left stuffed and the waitress was happy to act as our photographer for the occasion too. More expensive than a typical dinner out, but not so much that it’ll break you either. We will take friends back here in the future. Fun to introduce friends to «something new» and I’m looking forward to sharing this great find. Wish we had left room for dessert, they make their own ice cream in house and everything.

So my boyfriend and I spent this years Valentine’s dinner there and we had a great time. The waitress was helpful with the wine selection and the table but when it came to ordering she was a bit pushy in recommending the lamb special. It was a 12 oz. bone in lamb that was«supposedly» cooked for 18 hours which my boyfriend decided to try after much deliberation. I ordered the duck which I have to admit was fantastic and the lamb was pretty good as well I have to be honest. Fast forward 2 days, he got horrible food poisoning and hasn’t been able to eat a full meal since then. I’m not sure what happened but for someone to be so pushy on a special and for it to make him so sick, there had to have been something wrong with it. I did originally love this restaurant but now I’m not so sure I trust them. BUT I loved the duck so much I’m debating on whether I’ll have to come back and give this place another shot.

Seriously I LOVE this place. Just been here once, but I’m pretty sure that I’m gonna be a big fan of this restaurant. The interior design is super awesome so that u can feel sth special and unique atmosphere. Food was also nice! This is the best place ever in tacoma. If u are looking for somewhere to have a nice lunch or dinner, this is the place.

Like several other reviewers we really wanted to love this place because we want T-Town to be a hub for great things. We got there early in the evening(5:15P) and had reservations so we got seated immediately into plush chairs. The ambiance is fantastic, rustic romantic/homey charm with a couple of cool books on the table(1,000 things to eat before you die — fun conversation starter), soft pop rock playing at a good conversational level. A decent wine menu. We were feeling hopeful and happy. The menu was full on comfort food and we were told it changes with the season. Great, they’re doing this right! To start we had a spinach salad and crab cakes, both were tasty and done well. Again, feeling good… Until the entrees arrived. Our entrees were both a disappointment. I had the jumbo shrimp linguine. The shrimp were cooked perfectly but the dish was more like a bowl of broth with noodles than a standard linguine. The flavor of the broth was interesting and overwhelmed by shallot. This isn’t me being snooty, there were probably 15 rings of shallot in the«soup» bowl, just too much. My husband had the mushroom risotto. This man loves his risotto, so he was excited to see it on the menu. The waitress recommended it as her favorite dish. Alas, it turned out to be a salt bomb and the texture was really strange because it was served on a bed of arugula. Just weird for a risotto. They redeemed themselves with the dessert which was a cinnamon roll cake. Oooey Gooey deliciousness like a lava cake married a Cinna-Bön. Yummm. The service was good. Friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall it was a good experience and the menu had us wrestling over our choices. It was the execution of the entrees that failed. We will likely give it a second try. Note to the chef: just keep it simple, don’t get creative and throw something like arugula into risotto or serve linguine as a soup. We’re holding out hope for our next visit.

I’m really torn on this review. I really want to love this place… But I can’t. We got here shortly after they opened for dinner and had no problem getting a table. We were the only table seated and thought that would be an advantage. Wrong. The service was sloooooooow. Do not come here if you have other things to do in the evening. You’ll end up being late or missing it entirely. The food… What a disappointment. I got the zucchini lasagna and was really hoping for more zucchini than cheese but really it was a bowl of sauce(good sauce) and a butt ton of cheese. There were only a few pieces of zucchini and some meat… Not what I had in mind for dinner. Other diners in my party seemed to enjoy their food and the bite of Italian Shepherd’s Pie was very good. I think I just ordered the wrong dish. I did appreciate the number of gluten free dishes on their dinner and dessert menu. I was verrrrrry tempted but abstained. Lame, I know. The wine list was very nice and the Malbec was excellent. It is a beer and wine kind of joint so don’t bother if you’re a cocktail drinker.

Went there for lunch and tried their sandiwch… It is not cheap but it is totally worth it! It was mouthwatering good! The place is located on Opera Alley which by itself is a small place to check out with cute buildings and alleys. The décor and interior was small but very nice.

Family owned and ran, this place has all the warmth of home but food that is so thoughtful and executed beautifully. Some of the best duck breast I have had anywhere, drizzled with a beautiful cherry sauce and even the mashed potatoes which the duck is napping on are tremendous. The crab bisque is out of this world and the tiny grilled cheese sandwich appetizers, oh my gosh! I don’t know what they soak them in, seems like a beurre blanc sauce then they get golden and mmmmm so good. It is a very small place but a treasure to visit and because of the hidden location, equally as special. Higher end prices, but a lot of organic, high-quality food. One of my favorite local places I discovered back in 2008 or 2009. Service is good because it’s too small to be less than that.

I made reservations from the Unilocal app and was promptly seated on a very busy Friday night. From there, our service was a little spotty. Quite a few of the bigger tables had cleared and I think our waitress was busy taking some down-time to recuperate. Understandable, but a little disappointing being a patron. We didn’t even get the last drink orders that we requested and figured it was their loss… Onto the amazing food… Started with a nice wedge salad(really delicious green goddess dressing!), complimentary bread & butter and for my entrée I had the mushroom fettuccine. The pasta made my tummy happy, with fresh ingredients(cherry tomatoes and a little basil) & beautiful slices of shaved parmesan. Went great with a glass of Kung Fu Girl Riesling. This was my 3rd visit here and I’ll definitely be back for more delicious food — & be willing to speak up/head to front counter to request service if needed. Totally worth it.

Came for dinner last night. Was really looking forward to coming to this restaurant. The ambiance was very intimate, with an eclectic and chic décor. Seating is very limited with a cramped entry/waiting area. There’s an upper and lower seating area, we were seated in the lower next to the kitchen and the entry to the restrooms, not ideal but it worked. They were very busy and it took us a while to get waters. Service started with warm sourdough bread and butter. The first round was room temperature and kind of dense, the second was warm and light and airy(inconsistency). I ordered the flat iron steak($ 29) and my friend ordered the duck($ 30). The duck was cooked nicely, medium rare with a nicely rendered skin in a port and cherry reduction. Both entrees came with sautéed carrots and green beans and mashed red skin potatoes. The duck was ok, nothing phenomenal, I felt like the texture was way too soft for my liking. The steak had good flavor, but waaaaay too salty. Thankfully I had the carrots and green beans because salt was the predominant flavor. The mashed potatoes and sauce were also salt licks. In the sauce for the steak I didn’t pick up any horseradish notes, it was mainly sautéed mushrooms and onions with lots of Worcestershire and a splash of cream. All in all I enjoyed the ambiance more than the food, and didn’t find it worth the prices. I could have made the same meal at home for 4 people, and a bit more flavorful and less one dimensional… and a lot less salty.

Knowing next to nothing about what’s in Tacoma, I randomly picked this place to meet with an old friend. It’s such a crap shoot sometimes. You don’t know what the atmosphere or environment will be like. In my case, I wanted it conducive to having a relatively private conversation, not one of those places you have to shout in order to be heard. Over the Moon was perfect. The service was prompt and friendly. I made a reservation, again, not knowing what it would be like, and I was seated immediately. The tables are far apart enough that you do get some intimacy, which was a concern for such a small venue. The décor was tasteful and cute(except for the fake grapes on the table — isn’t handling that stuff toxic?). The lunch food left something to be desired. I appreciate that things seem to mostly organic/sustainable/blahlblah, but my sandwich was pretty mediocre. The curried lentil soup was really also very bland. I haven’t lost hope yet! The dinner menu and pictures look fantastic, so I just might be back. The restrooms are shared with the rest of the building and are down a windy hallway. Restrooms have a lot of character and are really clean, so I’d check them out if you’re here. As one Unilocaler put it, OtM has«flattering lighting, lovely atmosphere». Thanks, OtM for being exactly what I was looking for. And thanks fellow Unilocalers. ;)
