If you love cooking different types of dishes this is the place to come for cheap groceries. The produce is super cheap and they have a big selection. They have aisles with groceries from different ethnicities. Only complaint is I wish they’d have some more baked goods from other regions rather than the usual muffins and bread you can get at any other store.

Despite the terrible reviews I decided to check out this market since I needed an ORCA card. It’s free here if you put on a minimum of $ 5 for an adult card only. This place was pretty clean(cleaner than the two Asian markets on 38th) and had a nice selection of Hispanic and Asian condiments/food items with decent prices. I made sure to check expiration dates after reading one of the other reviews. Good selection of fruits and produce. Some bruised fruits but it is similar in quality as Safeway and Albertsons. If you want perfect looking fruit you’ll have to go to Metropolitan Market and pay 3x as much. I steered clear of the processed food so didn’t really make my way through the center isles but noticed there were some good deals but I would probably only go here for some of the harder to find ethnic stuff and keep with Winco(for fruit and produce) and Metropolitan Market(for meat and specialty items).

I’m sorry but they always have overdue food here. There is nothing else to say except for that. I question the quality and cleanliness of their food, and their store. I bought a few things, but otherwise, it is questionable. They get an A for effort in having diverse food choices, but come on. Don’t store overdue products on the shelves and have it on sale for like .50 cents knowing it is overdue. Overdue so badly that the cans are ready to burst, literally, bulging out of it’s usual formation.

Distraught over the closure of the Saar’s on Pearl, I went over to this branch on Yakima Avenue the other day to stock up on large cans of tomatillos(I’ll make chile verde from scratch, but I WON’T cook up raw tomatillos! I’m lazy!) It’d been over a year since I’d been to this branch… my, but it’s messy in here. To their credit, they do have a large selection of Hispanic and Asian basics, but they don’t have the Eastern European goods the one on Pearl did. What a disappointment. There were more dusty, crappy looking cans on the shelves in this branch than I care to remember or relate… so, I will have to drive out to either Lakewood Towne Center or Parkland’s Saar’s to find my ethnic groceries. If you were doing a big ethnic supply run, you might drive over here from Hong Kong or East Asia Marts in the Asian center not far away… otherwise, skip.
