FAVORITEPLACETOGETSUSHI! The sushi here is always fresh, and you could really taste the quality of each roll. The pricing here is also a plus because it much cheaper compared to other sushi places around the area.

We are regular customers and always enjoy the fresh, delicious food. Super dinners. The menu includes lovely salad and soup, plus meals come with delicious well cooked fresh vegetables. If you are into a balanced meal this is wonderful. Reliable fresh well cooked food at a decent price. This is a locally owned family-run business, which I support.

The food was good and service fast. Not bad for price. Everyone satisfied. Pad Thai was a little on sweet side, cashew chicken very good. Vegan dishes very tasty. I would visit again.

This is by far one of the best places around. Its quaint atmosphere and friendly staff are much appreciated after a hard days work. Whether dining in or taking out the food is always perfectly cooked, fresh, and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend their sushi. My favorites are the shrimp tempura roll and the crunch roll. If you are a teppanyaki fan you will love their hibatchi steak and veggies w/the orange sauce(I always get fried rice, which is also wonderful) all in all you cant go wrong with Shogun.

SNAILSLOW is all I can really say. Came here with my parents during the weekend and we ordered some dishes in the beginning and ended up ordering some more mid meal because their portions were small. It took over FORTY minutes to get the damn food. I’m not even hungry anymore because I’m pissed. Don’t go here when you’re hungry.

Great food server was nice but seemed a little out of it. Not enough attention to customers from other staff

Great prices for fresh sushi. They have the option to use rice paper instead of seaweed which is a plus! They have several extras with your order such as miso soup, salad with ginger dressing, and two Mochi ice creams. Service was fast and waitress was attentive. I appreciate when they clear the empty dirty dishes so you can finish your beverage or dessert at a clean table.

The grilled and cooked was quite average, however, everything was extremely fresh and the sushi was way above average for the area of Tacoma. I ordered the Creamy Spicy Scallops that were made on point with nothing weird inside(like at Sushi Revolution where they add green onion which is weird). My man got the Hibachi chicken, which is pretty much just teriyaki chicken. Get the lunch special instead of the dinner if you’re looking for teriyaki chicken, the dinner portions are relatively small and proportionally more expensive. They are also open pretty late, 930 so they’re a good for a lazy late night. However, my compliments mainly is for my waitress! She is younger 20’s one with the teal green hair dipped and her service was just impeccable. Our drinks were never empty, and she was super attentive about her service. Anytime we made eye contact, even on accident on my bad, she would check up on us in a non awkward way. I would go back just to experience her service again and bomb sushi.

Went back with the family for another sushi dinner. This is the last time I will go there. The service was so slow. There were 7 other people there when we arrived. 5 more came in 10 – 15 minutes after us. We ordered 6 rolls and Miso soup. It took over 45 minutes for us to get our food. I mentioned to the waitress that the food too forever to come out and she didn’t even apologize. The sushi is still good, smaller portions, and just not worth the wait. I will drive the extra 10 minutes to Flying Fish in North Tacoma.

This is my second time visiting this establishment and it will be my last. We ordered the Shogun special($ 20.xx) and sashimi plate($ 20.00). Sashimi was ok but what got me was the Shogun special. It consisted of chicken, shrimp and steak. Seeing the price, I thought it would be worth the $ 20. Heck no. I’ve had a lot of disappointments happening today and this took the cake. I don’t know why the owners think this plate is worth $ 20 because the shrimp was clearly taken from a frozen bag, and the chicken and steak were low quality. In addition, flavor was lacking, even with the two dipping sauces. I also don’t understand why they were skimping on the rice. It’s an Asian restaurant. Asians love their rice(I’m asian by the way). We ordered a side order of rice and it barely had anything in there.

The food here is pretty average. It’s cooked well but there isn’t much flavor or flair. The brown sauce is just teriyaki sauce and the orange sauce is decent. I think of this place as a cheaper and less flavorful Sakuras. I don’t think I’ll go back unless I am absolutely starving

Japanese hibachi without the show so more price friendly. They put the sauce on the side so you put as little or as much as tou want. Veggies always seem fresh. Only problem is inconsistent servers. Worth coming back for the food

We’ve been going here for a few years now, and have always been incredibly pleased with service and the food is to die for. The owners put their heart and soul into everything. The place is small but super clean. If you are into Garlic like Rachel Ray and me, then get the side dish of Garlic it is the cat’s meow. It makes the rice and or fried rice stand up and sing, and the orange sauce is perfect,(similar to Sakura and Tokyo’s). When it’s packed out on a Friday or Saturday night it might take a while, but wow is it ever worth the wait.

I think this place is pretty good for Hibachi. It’s not like typical Hibachi places around here where you sit down and they cook in front of you. It’s a small place with several tables for guests. The food is pretty good and it’s reasonably priced for Hibachi. I enjoyed the fried rice the most. I have not tried their sushi yet, so I cannot comment on the quality of their sushi.

This is one of the better Japanese restaurants in Tacoma, especially for the price(compared to a place like Fujiya). The menu is a little limited for vegetarians. Maybe only about 3 – 4 choices in total, and only 1 – 2 sushi options! Nonetheless each meal has been pleasant. The waitress knew everything about each menu item. Customized sushi requests are welcome and not overcharged. It is also great seeing a family operate the restaurant, which is fairly obvious with this group. Always friendly and attentive service. We’ll be back!

Ok, first of all the sushi here is delicious. Everything I have ordered here has always been very fresh. The staff is also very nice, and attentive. BUT… My husband and I went for dinner and ordinarily there is usually about a 15 – 20 minute wait before the food comes out. Tonight the food took over an hour. For reference, we ordered 2 pieces salmon and tuna sushi, 9 pc sashimi plate and 3 rolls. There was a group of 8 and a phone order before us, but even so ONEHOUR for sushi is unacceptable. I have been to many other(delicious) sushi bars and have had the same thing and have been in and out in under and hour. I wonder what the lady making the sushi back there is doing? It should never take that long to make sushi. If you have 2+ hours to spare(and you’re just a couple) feel free to eat here. My husband and I will definitely be finding somewhere else to go, simply because of the extremely slow service.

We have been going here for a while(most of the time it’s a to-go order). We occasionally branch out and try other places but we always end up coming back! Te service is always super friendly, I believe the owner is the sushi chef maybe. The rainbow roll is yummy and the volcano always pleases! The only reason we didn’t give it a 5 is that is lacks a little ambiance, it’s in a strip mall(same one as Pint Defiance) and just has very bright lighting. Would be nice if the atmosphere for dinner was a little inviting(darker lit, table cloths… something?!) because the food deserves it! We’ve only ever ordered sushi so far but the other meals look amazing(when see what other people have ordered!)
