Now located on highway 99 just south of the Kent — Des moines road. Did not eat so am just rolling over my original 5 stars.

Read jerritt c.‘s review. He’s a much better writer than I am and his review describes the adobada burrito experience I had today perfectly. I will return, but not for a burrito.

A burrito must contain more meat than a taco. It’s that simple. I don’t care how much volume the total burrito occupies, that’s a separate issue. More money means more meat. I don’t expect the thing to be like biting into a pork butt or calf frontquarter or something, but dammit it needs substance. The burrito provided this week in exchange for $ 5 at la Sinaloense– ostensibly containing adobada pork – was zeppelin in stature. I had high hopes, and it took only five tempting intersections on the motor home for me to no longer care if I had a frijole moustache or dribbled a grease or two on the faux leather of the taurus interior. MMMM: greasy creamy overcooked rice. MMMM: suspiciously savory beans. MMMM, just a few bites, I can wait. Good beans and rice tend to be like an indicator species telling of ecosystem health, and indeed the fierce storm of gastric juices those stolen bites(more sort of suckings-out, proboscis style) invited were anticipating a lush forest of savory farther down the burrito. But. Bite. After. Bite. Nothing. But. Hints. Unbelievable. Oh, a chunk of pineapple. Good, but. I had also picked up two tacos without onions, one asada and one carnitas, for my sampling but mainly for the Saint Bernard’s consumption. My guilty meat tooth doesn’t like to eat alone, and what better companion than man’s best friend? The carnitas were awesome, succulent with edges of crispness. The asada was passable. The dog enjoyed both as evidenced by the drooly jowlprints left on the porch. Unfortunately she had done so before I discovered the burrito was a fraud, a giant dirigible sham. I will be going back, but only for the taco format.(The chunk of pineapple is the second-trip deciding factor and the difference here between two and three stars; I love pineapple and pork.) And only to eat there – I swear the tacos that were being served to the guys hanging around there were twice what mine were when unwrapped at home.

This place sure likes their pork — of the 5 meat varieties, 3 are pig. You might think I’m going somewhere with that, but I’m not. We split the chicken burrito and the fried tacos with chicken — both were tasty, but the fried tacos totally win out in my book. $ 12 for the two meals — not super cheap, but worth it.

My GF has been talking for a while about how she’s always driving by this taco truck on Center Street and wanting to eat there. We finally got around to it yesterday, and we were very impressed. I was a little overwhelmed by the menu so I asked if they had any recommendations for a first-timer like myself. They suggested the fried tacos; that sounded good, so I went for it. They have a number of different types of meat to choose from: beef(steak), chicken(pollo), spicy pork(adobada), fried pork(carnitas) and shredded pork(cochinita). Pork it always my favorite meat when it comes to Mexican food, so I was glad to have three types to choose from. They also have beef Angus tongue(lengua) and Mexican sausage(chorizo) for a bit extra. I paid $ 5.99 for the fried tacos with cochinita, and got a huge plate of rice, beans, and three tacos. I’ve never had fried tacos before so I don’t have much basis for comparison, but these were awesome! The meat was tender, plus there was a good amount of cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. I could barely finish. Too bad, because I was hoping to have room for flan afterward. There are a lot of menu items I’ve never seen before(maybe I don’t go to enough Mexican places???). I’d like to try one of their«grande super tortas, served on big size Mexican style bread». I will definitely be back here.
