I was hesitant to eat here because of all the negative reviews. Our meal was pretty good! We shared the sampler platter(pork, chicken, turkey, brisket, sausage and ham) served with corn bread, baked beans and Cole slaw or potatoe salad. Our service was fast and friendly. I would’ve given them 5 stars if their prices were a bit lower.

Excellent food. One of the best burgers, tasty sides, ribs fall of thebone, great smoked chicken. Relaxed, casual dining room. Only reason they do not receive 5 stars is because service is hit or miss, sometimes great othwr times not so much.

If you like to look at dead animals on walls and standing around the seating area, this place is for you! You can also get some very mediocre BBQ while you’re there. I gave one star for cleanliness and decent service.

Great food and service was very efficient and servers were friendly. We had a large group of 20 and we had our food in no time. We had the moo, cluck, oink — lots of food and very good. Also had the smoked salmon and it was tasty but go for the real barbecue items on the menu. Skip the salmon.

Didn’t like the environment. Very fast food restaurant and for the prices it’s was not good at all. Safe to say I won’t be going back. The tables were dirty, service was very mediocre. Just wasn’t pleased at all with any of it. For $ 40, I feel like you should be getting good food and service

My boyfriend has been wanting to take me here for some time now, and now I understand why! This place has such a cool homey vibe, the animal heads on the wall are a bit intimidating at first but it definitely adds character! He ordered his usual BBQ Brisket Sandwich and myself a BBQ Brisket Entrée, and holy smokes it was good. The meat wasn’t piping hot but it was melt in your mouth delicious! We were too stuffed to grab dessert after, but there is no doubt about it we’ll be back another day to try a few pies and huge cookies offered at the counter!

This review is based on the staff and restaurant itself, not the food. This experience was a while back when they were just open a couple of months. I have a rather large family and we are usually open to finding nice places for family gatherings. When we all arrived, we were greeted promptly which was nice but honestly there wasn’t much people there. Which is strange since it was dinner time. Another thing that was strange was the restaurant was really warm. The waitress led us to a room in the back to accommodate all of us. Large table but kind of in an enclosed area with not much air flow into it. Seating about 14 people into an already warm place with not much air flow will obviously make it even more uncomfortably warm. Maybe we can push three tables together where the restaurant is more open versus this smaller room? No. Which is weird they would deny that request especially since no other customer was there. Decided to just tough it out. After having some time to look over our menus, the waitress comes back and asks if we were ready. Then she hands my uncle a pen and paper and says«Here, can you guys write all your orders down? It’d just be easier that way.» We just thought that was unprofessional. Stuffing us in a hot room with one entrance to it, denying our easy request for a better dining experience, and just not even trying to take our order. I’ve accommodated a larger amount of people and had no problem taking their orders on my own. We walked out. I honestly felt bad because it seemed their business would benefit from us do if there but we just didn’t feel like we were treated well. As much as I felt bad, I was sort of relieved. I couldn’t imagine all of us in that room for much longer and had we all ordered all our food and it all being very hot. Ahh, just not worth it.

The restaurant has a rustic, outdoors feeling. The place was empty so I found myself wandering around touching all the taxidermy animals while I waited for my food. The server was really sweet and the food came out quickly. We decided to eat in and people came and went getting to go orders while we ate. They play country music and have a tv on a sports channel. It was a new experience having bbq in western Washington. It’s smokey and not too sweet. I had the brisket sandwich with potato salad. It also came with a pickle spear. Everything was flavorful and delightful. My boyfriend had the general Custer burger. He really enjoyed it. They have plenty of napkins in case the bbq is messy. We were too full to try the desserts but the cookies looked good and the pies sounded good.

Went to the parkland location. All the bbq I tried tasted like smoke. No meat flavor at all. Over seasoned and I would never recommend this place. They were out of kobe beef so I got a brisket burger and it was awful. Way too much seasoning. The service was very slow as well and my brother had to walk up there 3 times and ask for ranch dressing and bbq.

3rd time here with a different group of people. I really want to like this place as its so close to home and it is professional looking. Been here once with family of about 11.(All gave it zero stars from service, to taste, to price) Second time I visited was a business meeting of about 6 people(All again gave zero stars on service, taste, and price) Since I am a glutton for punishment I gave them another chance and went with some friends to see if they have improved or not. Its still horrible! Whyyyyyyyy do they not read their reviews and try to improve upon them. At first look you will think, hmmmm this is a nice place. Then you walk up to the Mcdonalds like counter where you order your food.(This is where many would already turn around) However if you are new to the place you will want to give it a chance. So you order your food which is a similar menu to Famous daves only twice the cost. So you think to yourself hmmmm must be better. hahaa my guess is that half the people in your group will take one bite and be done. The staff will just get snotty when they complain about the taste.(Now its not a horrible taste like many will say. Its just a cheap and somewhat sour taste.(Best example of what it tasted like would be Katsup with a little smoke flavor added, maybe a little more vinegar then regular table katsup. as it has some odd sour taste as if your eating something that has gone bad) Anyways if you tell them there is something wrong with your food, they will be offended. It is not bad, its just their choice of flavor. Many people love katsup and can drink it right out of the bottle. I like it on burgers, dogs, and fries, but I dont love it like some. Still even for a katsup bbq it is hard for many to put down. As I sit here and try to think of good things to say, it is difficult, however I have heard that they have a good sunday brunch and have decent breakfast foods. So I might give them another chance for breakfast as I do really want to like them, and do want them to improve before they sink into the abyss of stubborn restaurants that refuse to improve. Note to Restaurant: Get rid of that stupid Mcdonalds order counter and act like a sit down restaurant. Your wait staff will be glad to get tips and it will help justify your high prices. Tip 2: Lower your prices. Famous Daves is just down the street and unless you become twice as good as them, you cant charge twice the price. Tip 3: You have one flavor of BBQ sauce, not everyone loves that taste like you do. Try copying Famous Daves and have a variety of Sauce flavors. Tip 3: If you burn, or under cook or mess up on a customers meal. Act like you are sorry and offer to fix it. Tip 4: Get friendlier wait staff! I understand that they dont get tips so done have to be nice, but some customer service would be nice. Tip 5: You are in Spanaway! Charge accordingly. OK I had to throw the price thing in there twice. I just cant get over that you charge twice that of famous daves who blows you away in every category, and they are not even that great. I only gave them a 3.5 stars. You have a nice place and a nice location. Spanaway is hurting for nice restaurants. Read your reviews and improve upon them.

My family and i were at the washington state fair, close by so we decided to just stop by to see what the hype was about. You walk in and immediately start to order and pay upfront, then you sit down. The place was pretty big, they even had their own hand wash station which was nice, it’s near the utensils. The food came out, and i thought it was good could have been better, but the sides were DELICIOUS! i loved the corn bread and the chili, i actually finished all my food. I guess the only disappointment was the sausage, it was super dry. I got the pork and chicken. chicken was… just chicken. My brother got the burger and my cousin got the pulled pork burger both were really good, the burger was really oily and was dripping so it was kinda nasty but he loved it!

Late lunch wonder place awesome food I’ll be back for sure. I’m not much for a 14 $ lunch but it was the best prime rib dip I ever had.

I wish I could give this newer location a 3.5. I prefer the ambiance of this newer location than the original Fife location but the food isn’t as good. The staff were all friendly and made it clear that we would need to place an order up front when ready but offered us menus to review at a table if we preferred. Their BBQ sauce was delicious but was much thicker than I’ve had in the past. Overall a pleasant experience.

1st, let’s start with the good: the service was great, the beans were good, and the sauce was amazing. Unfortunately, that’s the extent of the good. I ordered the brisket, which I was excited for when it came to the table, classic fall apart and saucy, then the disappointment of what tasted like jerky. The coleslaw that came with my food was warm(Gross!) and after one bite I decided it would be unsafe to keep going. It has no flavor, with the exception of warm mayo. The cornbread was clearly at least a day old and cold. My husband ordered the baby back ribs and had similar complaints, the ribs were cold, over cooked, and chewy… clearly cooked days ago. He had the potato salad that looked like mashed potatoes and tasted worse than a store bought boxed salad. Save your $$$ and drive a but further for Famous Dave’s!

So, I have had fantastic BBQ at the Fife store but all I could think was… how did they go so wrong. It is obvious that the level of quality and concern from the Fife location didn’t translate to the Parkland location. I am just going to list the problems: Service — sllllooooowwwww — She came back 3 times to get our order… at least it was right. Chili — it tasted like they used an ingredient that was spoiled. It had that rotten tang to it. Gumbo — Ok but oh so bland. Chicken — dry. Eating desert sand dry. Brisket — OVERDONE — I love a good brisket and this was not one of them. Ribs — Tough and almost inedible — Lets put it this way… when they put a picture next to the definition of barnyard bully… it was this pig. I envision a pig in prison with bulging muscles and tats. Corn bread — good flavor but strangely like sawdust. Nasty rice — just plain nasty. Tasteless and undercooked. The rice was HARD. For GODSAKEDOESN’T ANYONETASTETHEFOODBEFORESERVING? Bottom line is don’t waste your time or money on this place. Go to Fife. Get a decent meal. Personally I would rather lick the bottom of a trash can than eat at Warthog in Parkland.

Well. Let me just start with saying that this is the best BBQ I’ve had outside of the State of Texas. Being from Texas, I know good BBQ. This place did not disappoint! I am very wary of trying BBQ food because people think if they cook chicken & lather BBQ sauce on it, that that is BBQ. Wrong! From the customer service to the atmosphere to the self serve area and to the food, this place screams outstanding BBQ. I had the brisket meal with potato salad, beans, and corn bread. The brisket was absolutely some of the best I’ve ever had. The sauce, was delicious, and everything was just perfect! My husband had pork ribs & chicken, again some of the best I’ve tasted, even my sons meal was tasty. I will be back, and this is the only place I will get BBQ food while we live here in Washington State.

I happened upon this tonight and, being a BBQ lover from Kansas City, I’m always looking for the first decent place in the Northwest. Surprisingly, this is it! The brisket and pork ribs are up there with anything from KC. And like KCBBQ, it’s best eaten without sauce. Not to be unkind, but the sauce is just wrong. Tastes like tomato sauce. I concur with other reviewers that service is friendly but slow, for no particular reason. Anyway, go for the meat and eat it plain. It’s smoky and tender and just right.

Everything here is fantastic but the BEANSARETHEBEST! We came in on a weekday and had the Western! It had a little bit of everything and we enjoyed every bit of it, My favorite things were the turkey, the beans and the cornbread! The brisket was nice and juicy with a fare amount of fat. the BBQ sauce was tangy yet not spicy which is a must for me. The cornbread was fresh and the sides were delightful, They are close to home, open during good hours and cater as well. Delicious… oh and they have DESSERTS!

I’ve had really bad BBQ and this place is close. We got the western roundup. Well out of everything the sausage and slaw were the best. Stay away from the beans! I love cumin but one small bite and I was done! Cornbread was ok but nothing to write home about. Turkey, brisket, pork tasted a little old not much smoke. Ham was juicy but NOSMOKE! Might come back to see if changes are made! Hope so, we need some good BBQ around here.
