Awful service! We ordered 3 soups and sushi. Sushi came out and then we waited, and waited… Noticed other customers who came in after us getting soup and asked about our order. They forgot. We were there 1.5 hours. We paid for the food we got and left. Do not go here !

Just had the worst dining experience in a long time. First of all, the place was pretty much freezing, although there was a fake wood burning stove with the fake fire by our table… no heat. There were maybe 4 – 5 other tables of diners there, and then another large party of 6 showed up 20min later. We had a party of seven, and the waitress/owner(?) did take our order after a short period of time. She did mention that some of the food may take a while, so we were not expecting the quickest service. Half of our party got sushi, and the others got a Bento box and three bowls of noodle soups. We were actually pleasantly surprised when the sushi orders came to our table relatively quickly, because that is what usually takes the longest. The sushi was pretty good considering we were in Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the other foods because we never got them. There were only 2 servers in the front, and 2 cooks in the back, so I’ll make an allowance for being understaffed, but they walked by our table several times without a word. They didn’t ask how our food was, or give us an update as to when to expect the outstanding order. When we saw the table who ordered after us slurping down their noodle soup, we had to go find the waitress and inquire about our order. She went to check on it, and apparently they«lost our ticket» in the back. She seemed totally surprised that we didn’t get more than half our order! By that time, my 8yo was«starving», and the rest of us were hungry and upset. At first she blamed the guys in the back, then she«took full responsibility», and agreed to not charge us for the food we never got. She apologized, but didn’t offer any sort of consideration for our inconvenience. We paid and left, never to return again. I’d recommend you avoid this establishment, but if you choose to go, bring a parka and plenty of patience.

Went back for a repeat visit. Some of the recent negative reviews had me apprehensive but I was very happy to have a great experience. My daughter and I got the Galbi salad(okay) and the spicy Doma roll,(great) and I got the Pork tonkatsu ramen and she got the tan tan ramen. Everything except the galbi salad was fantastic, huge portions, great prices. The restaurant is maybe not the most«professionally» run place, the owner does a lot of the tasks, but the food is really, really good and the service is always with a smile. I did not notice the restaurant being cold and despite the fact it was full, we got our food really quickly. It is so nice to have good food in Tahoe.

First, the place was freezing inside. Next, the food was just so-so, a little bland. The cook was slow as well. Waited 30 minutes and the place was not even busy. As a matter of fact, at around 8:00, the closed sign was put out as they were not able to keep up with the orders. They were sending people across the street to another sushi place. Update: it’s 8:31 and the sign was revered to open again. Perhaps the cook caught up with the orders.

We showed up to this mostly-empty, dingy, and somewhat depressing restaurant on a weeknight, seated ourselves, sat around for 15 minutes without any staff visible in the dining area, then left. So… maybe 1 star is unfair since I have no idea if the food is good, but the atmosphere and inattentive service made me unwilling to trust them with raw fish.

Freezing inside. Had to keep my coat and hat on. Food was ok. Service was confused. Not impressed and disappointed by another one season Tahoe restaurant. Sushi was fine — maybe good for takeout.

Let there be no question that the best ramen And sushi in this town in Doma. Was in town for a week and had to come twice! The sushi was fresh and the ramen cooked perfect. Will definitely be back!

Enjoy ourselves immensely. Food was fresh and came quick. Prices were cheap too compared to other sushi places with no loss in quality. Will definitely come back next time we are in Tahoe City. The owners mentioned this was a passion project for them and it showed. Thanks for the great experience!

We arrived at 1:15 and the place was just opening up even though their posted hours are earlier. The place was freezing and the owner apologized and we assumed it was due to their just opening. But based on other reviews this seems to be the norm. The restaurant is family run and they only have the ability to serve a small number of parties at a time. We saw at least 3 parties turned away. As for the food, the Ramen with Korean short ribs was tasty, the Hawaiian poke salad was over-dressed and a bit too sweet. Their signature dish, pepper fin(seared peppered albacore with jalapeño and special sauce) was plentiful but also overdressed with sriracha. The BBQ chicken donburi bowl was not very good and my daughter barely ate any of it. The service was very friendly and was timely… only one other party being served. We’re undecided if we’ll give this place another try, but if we do, it won’t be until the weather is warmer(or they decide to heat the place).

Website said opens at 1130. Sign on front door says open at 1130. Get there at 1200 and it’s completely closed with no sign of anyone. Drove 30 minutes to get here. Extremely disappointed. This place lost my business before I had a chance to offer it to them

Where to begin? 1) Reservations or no reservations? First, I called and asked for a reservation and was told they do not take reservations — it’s first-come-first-served. We then showed up at 7pm to a fairly empty restaurant and were asked if we had a reservation. Huh? When I explained the phone call I got an even more confusing explanation about reservations. We were told to wait and see if they could accommodate the three of us in their empty-save-two-tables-restaurant. 2) Freezing. The three of us kept our coats on. I kept my hat and neck gator on all through dinner. When I finished eating, I put my mittens on. I think the temperature inside was somewhere between 45 and 52 degrees. I have no idea why they kept it so cold, we got no explanation. It was horribly, miserably uncomfortable. 3) The food, meh. My hamachi nigiri tasted lemony and metallic. I suspect it was on it’s last legs so I didn’t eat it. Gyoza was fried and quite greasy. Nearly every menu item had shrimp and crabmeat — and it was not real crabmeat. My salmon roll(crispy alaskan) was made with smoked salmon(which I hate) which was not indicated on the menu, menu just said«salmon». 4) Service. Our waitress was super friendly and I hate to ding her but after we dined she had to ask us what we ate so she could recreate the check for us(as we shivered in our coats dying to get the heck out of there and into the car). With only 4 tables, and 2 servers, I would think she could remember. This was the least pleasant dining experience I’ve ever had due to the cold temps in the place. I don’t know why we didn’t ask them to turn the heat up. But if you go, please ask them to do that. It’s sure not helping to keep the hamachi any fresher.

Food: — unknown legend(tuna, salmon, albacore, hamachi, avocado, homemade sauce, unagi sauce, masago) — the rice is way to much compared to the fish inside. The fish didn’t taste that great or fresh to me. Kind of disappointed. — northlake(deep fried soft shell crab, crabmeat, unagi, house sauce, unagi sauce, masago, avocado) — again, too much rice with little crab. I ordered this because I wanted to eat the soft shell crab, not rice. Yes its filling but not satisfying. The rice and crab proportion is like 3:1. I couldnt really taste the crab meat. It would have been better if they balance put less rice and more soft shell crab. For the cooked roll, I was expecting the rice to be a little warm, but it wasnt. It was cold. The cold rice with the fresh roll is understandable, but not the cooked one. — chasu ramen — noodle taste like instant noodle. Broth was just ‘ok’ but it taste nothing like chasu ramen should be. Its nice to eat it when its so cold outside because it keeps me warm. But the actual taste itself is just mehh! Price: — reasonable. Dinner for two was $ 40. But for the quality of the food, i’d say its not worth it. Service: — it was great. But I didn’t come to see the service. I came to eat and try the food. Its a Korean owned business but the service they have here is above average compared to other Asian restaurants. They also have a wide variety of menu, which make it hard to choose from. Some are similar and it might be better if them put the similar one in groups to make it easier for people to choose. — not that many Asians food in Tahoe and they are not specialized in it anyways. So don’t expect much.

Coldest, slowest restaurant I have ever been to in my life. I stopped feeling my toes and fingers an hour and half into us waiting for a meal, can I add that it was RAMEN!!! How hard is it to drop some veggies and noodles into warm broth? We came for lunch and think I’m leaving eating dinner. If you want to be served in a decent timeframe and not have your ramen freeze by the time it’s at your table save your money and go somewhere else.

Eh compared to food in the bay area, it wasn’t that great but I guess I can’t expect that much for a place that combines Korean, Japanese sushi and ramen all in one menu. The server was friendly(but forgot one of our orders– not a huge deal in my opinion). Also– it was pretty pricey! Normally what I would expect to be ~12 dollars was closer to ~18. Maybe that’s just the premium of being in Tahoe.

Very good sushi– the best on north shore. Try the Pepper fin, Unknown legend, Hamachi Nigiri(HUGEPORTIONS) and BBQ Albacore. The chef is very talented and takes pride with what he does.

Tried this place last night and it was fun. First, the menu needs rework. It looks like some old school Americanized Japanese restaurant menu, which really scared us in the beginning. We ended up getting some«safe bets» with a bento box and a tuna steak dinner. The food was great! We really liked the creative salads, which has shredded mango, apple, and daikon. We’re happy that the hostess recommended us Hamachi sashimi to order, which was of amazing quality. The tuna steak was also tasty. We regretted we didn’t know about the«chef’s special 4 course tasting menu» which we’ll definitely get next time. We also feel that if this is their specialty, they should market that better by putting it on the menu, even if it’s not available all the time. The menu, also, has too many items which distracts us from selecting the good stuff. They need a «daily special» board to highlight what’s the best and what’s the freshest. It’s very impressive to know that the owner and hostess don’t have that much experience in restaurants before, and they’re doing a great job running a restaurant purely from their passion and hard work. It’s great to have a good restaurant in the North Tahoe area, and this might become our go-to place when we do eat out. We hope them do well!

I just left here looking more at their Korean options. I wrote this understanding I can’t expect real Korean food in a place like Tahoe city. For this area it is okay and some may like it. The kalbi was too sweet and proably was lathered with sauce rather than marinated as it should be. The restaurant itself is a little odd. Seeing as they probably took over a bar/American restaurant they probably kept everything and I mean everything. Mismatched chairs, bar tables that just hold decorations, plating like miso in a French onion soup bowl. This is a big place that probably largely goes unused. Including my table there were only six diners and the food took awhile. One chef for everything. Temper your expectations then you will be okay. If I were skiing their noodle soup could be good. Actually I ordered ramen but they messed up my order and gave me bento. It is a family run place that is probably still working out kinks. Just hope they are prepared for ski season.

Service is nice and friendly We stopped by for sashimi and was given a very handsome serving for what we ordered. The salmon, Ono, and blue fin tuna was probably the best. My girlfriend ordered the eel hand roll and said the servings were very filling. Everything is made with lots of love!
