Spoon is a small, cozy restaurant. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food delicious! I had the wild salmon and it was moist, perfectly cooked. Highly recommended.

Got takeout with a large group, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! Wait was about 35 min for 11 meals and 4 desserts — and it was ready right on time. I had the vegetarian chilli, which was hearty and yummy. I liked the side of hot sauce. They also included a box of breadstick to share, which was a nice touch — and delicious! Those disappeared quickly. For dessert, we split the coconut cake(daily special), a chocolate chip cookie, and a brownie. They were all good.

We love this place! It’s our favorite spot to pick up something to go when we’re too lazy to cook but we want a home cooked meal. It’s good, simple, homestyle cooking. I don’t think they use excessive butter or oil like a lot of restaurants and the sauces are simple. Good selection and a great local feel. They do have a small amount of on site dining and a nice little outdoor dining patio but take out is their bread and butter. This is one of those hidden gems I hope people will support.

This place brings TRUE home cooking to your table. Located in a great spot huddled next to the forest and with a dog friendly area has what you are looking for in a real meal! The menu has some great choices but I find myself always ordering the Turkey meatloaf. Portions are for hungry ones but I haven’t brought any home yet! The owner, Alise, is usually behind the stove but will come out to check on you and really cares about your experience. If you live in the neighborhood it is a go to place. If you are visiting it is a must.

Food is good BUT service from dark haired male server is so bad I would not advise coming here until owners or management makes changes… NOPEOPLESKILLS I actually heard him tell a table they had 5 minutes to vacate the table as he served them dessert.

It’s such a shame that I have to give such a bad score to a restaurant that has really good food. This was a fun funky kind of place which was too cramped but kinda cool. They led us upstairs where I hit my head on a low wooden beam. It was a loud thud. Everyone saw and heard what happened but the staff just looked on and no one asked if I was OK or anything. When I said something to the waiter about putting a warning sign by the steps he said he would bring it up with the owner. Still no apology. We ordered our food and it was delicious. I also ordered one of their homemade cookies with ice cream sundaes. About halfway through my Sunday our waiter came and told us we needed to leave because reservations were coming at 7:15. I told him I would leave when I’m done eating. He told me a second time and the third time. He was very upset and rude and really stressed out everyone at our table. The table next to us was waiting for food and then waiter decided to berate them for not making reservations. ” «we do have a thing called reservations you know!» Why any business owner would hire such a moron to deal with the public is beyond me. The best food in the world would not be worth dealing with that kind of rudeness. I hope the management spends more money on experienced professionals because the cheap immature labor you have there is going to cost you… Big time!

I don’t usually write posts but this one needed to be posted. Good overall food but HORRIBLE service. Not sure what was wrong with this(male) waiter but he was RUDE! Even the couple at the table next to us made a comment. With all the many yummy restaurants in Tahoe this one I won’t be back to. Place way to small. It felt Claustrophobic.

The Penne Alfredo was amazing! A giant portion and fare price, I’ll definitely go back :)

This place was not at all what I expected when I got here but I wasn’t disappointed. So you enter and it looks like a strictly take-out place. Super super tiny. But surprise, there’s about 3 or 4 tables upstairs in the loft area. It’s small up there and can get hot but also charming. We scooped up a table, brought our own wine, and looked at the menu. I’m writing this review a bit later so I can’t remember exactly what we both got but I do remember we were both 100% pleased with the food. It was delish. The service isn’t bad but it takes him a while to get up and down the stairs as he’s busy doing take out downstairs. And I imagine in the middle of summer, it gets really really hot up there. But if you’re visiting, it’s worth a trip!

Absolutely delicious food. We were there for new years weekend and ate there for one afternoon. Opens late but totally worth it if you can push lunch back. I had the split pea soup with vegetables and the corn chilli over broun rice and beans and was so delicious with cheese and some hot sauce. Given I was there with a group of 7, but it took over an hour to get our food while a group of 5 got there and ate and paid and had already left in the time that it took for our food and thus a 3 star.

This place has good food, but I will tell you that as a local who lives 3 blocks away and had done nothing but support this business by eating there at least 4 times a month for the last 6 months that I will not go back. Every order that I have placed has been delivered incorrectly every time I ordered. When I got home this time and was fed up with the problem and longer willing to accept this, I called down to the store and got the owner on the line and let her know of the problem, she asked me «what do you want me to do about it?» To which I responded«apologize and fix it.» Her response was«don’t ever call here again» and she hung up on me. I am in total shock that anyone could run a business like this. I will be boycotting this local business from this point forward, and actively steering others away. This was no way to treat a loyal, local customer.

A great little find in Tahoe City. Not a lot of tables but they offer take out. I had the white bean soup and meatloaf which was incredible. I would not normally order meatloaf if my life depended on it but this is just that good.

I don’t normally write reviews. But the food at spoon definitely warranted 5 stars. The place is a small cabin converted into a restaurant. Not a lot of seating options but the place is interesting and has a pleasant atmosphere. I had the pick 2 deal and got a ham and Gouda sandwich with cheddar potato soup and it was delicious. My friends both got the chicken Parmesan and were raving about how great that was as well. On top of how amazing the food was. The price was very reasonable.(Not to mention the menu mentions you can barter for your food, never seen that before) Overall I highly recommend this place. I had a great experience here and will definitely be back when I’m in the area.

I’m absolutely in love with this place! Kudos to the owner for taking a culinary risk. This place is so unconventional and off the beaten path. I came to Tahoe for my honeymoon and after eating in all the big towns, I can honestly say, this was my favorite meal. If you’re in the area, I highly suggest you eat here.

When we arrived we were greeted with cute painted signed on the tiny cabin. The lights from the outdoor seating twinkled and added to the overall adorable atmosphere. When we went in we saw a little small hallway with curtains on some walls. This was a little confusing, but it opened up into a lovely little deli counter type setup with stairs up to the tiny seating room upstairs. We weren’t sure what to do to get a table as we saw no signs, but a waitress quickly arrived and told us it was open seating. Unfortunately, the upstairs was full so we sat outside. It was a bit cold with only one heat lamp, but we managed. Food: the menu was full of things I could order. I usually only see one or two things I may like on menus, but with only seven or so meals on the dinner entrée menu at Spoon I was happy to have so much delicious home-style food to choose from. I got the Chicken Penne Alfredo with Tomatoes, Zucchini, and Spinach. Mom got Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and dad got turkey with mashed potatoes. Mine was amazeballs. So good, fresh, simple – delicious! I only tried the potatoes from the other two dishes and they were great. The gravy was a little different than I am used to, but others love it, I’m sure. Both my parents loved their plates. Dessert: I got the double chocolate cake. They said it was made this morning – how could I resist? It was very flavorful, moist, and amazingly soft and fluffy. Overall it was great, but plastic cups? Really? Beyond just being tacky, they are so bad for the environment that you would think that they – especially a place in Tahoe – would go for glassware or mugs. Plus, it was a little cold. They need another heat lamp. Otherwise, the hot and fresh food made everything wonderful.

This is a great spot to sit outside with your dog and enjoy a nice relaxing comfort food kind of meal. The portions are large so depending on your appetite, you can share or indulge. Ordered the chicken parmesan over noodles, Chicken alfredo with spinach and a garden salad. Things to know: Bring your own wine. Outside and inside seating is very limited. Reservations are for the upstairs(but it’s hot) Dog friendly This is also a take-out based business We’ll be back!

Loved this place! Definitely a home cooked meal. I was a little worried when I saw the workers pulling items out of reusable containers and putting it on plates but after eating here I realized that they know what they are doing and it shows in the taste and quality of the food. It does take a little longer to get your food, but they were making brownies from scratch on the side. Sitting inside the cozy house while listening to the rain and smelling fresh brownies being made was definitely an enjoyable experience. Come here for great food, nice people, and a cozy atmosphere.

Such a fun little place!!! Always has wonderful home cooked specials! The portions are large so hubby and I usually split a dinner! I don’t think we have ever ordered off the menu, as always just order the special!!!(It changes nightly, and has never disappointed!!) And they offer«to go»! Which is awesome cause there are maybe 5 seats in the whole place!!! Try their root beer float!!! Seriously! Try it! The staff is super helpful and very friendly! Their soups are crazy good!!! So order a soup! You can thank me later!!!

Whenever I’m in Tahoe, I always dream about eating at Spoon. And when I get a chance to eat out, I definitely high-tail my place to this cozy little house in the middle of the forrest serving up huge portions of delicious fare! Most people order over the phone and pick up, but if you want to eat at the restaurant, there’s some seating upstairs as well as a few tables downstairs. The establishment encourages patrons to bring their own wine or beer, which is easily available at the convenience store across the street. I’m a huge fan of their shrimp stuffed shrimp, which is ground up shrimp stuffed into a whole shrimp. Also tasty is their fried chicken and baked penne pasta, which has chunky meaty pasta sauce dumped all over it so if you’re one of those pasta purists who only prefer a light coating of marinara, this might not be the dish for you. I typically don’t go for dessert at restaurants, but it’s really hard to pass up at least bringing home one of their decadent brownies or cookies that they bake on site. The brownies are super moist and chocolaty and the cookies are ginormous and nice and chewy. Even better than taking a brownie home is having a brownie sundae right after your dinner! I shared a brownie sundae with some friends and one of us didn’t like peanuts, and our server graciously brought out peanuts on the side. Service is super friendly and warm and really does feel like you’re having dinner at a friend’s house in a cozy cabin in the woods.

This place is my new favorite in tahoe. Very cute atmosphere and great service. Everything looked delicious on the menu! I ordered the Shrimp Stuffed Shrimp with mashers and it was very tasty and the stuffing was delicious! Guest 2: penne Alfredo — the Alfredo sauce was perfect in our taste and it didn’t make you feel overly full Guest 3: turkey dinner — moist turkey and flavorful mashers made her feel like thanksgiving all over again Guest 4: tri tip with chimichurri and bbq sauce — said it was better than his moms and cleaned up his plate
