I haven’t been back here since last year. I came for the lunch buffet. Though in the past my dining experience was considerably good. Today most of the food in the buffet was warm to cold. I even stirred it from the bottom as was suggested once I informed that the food on the first plate was cold(I could not eat it) But still even after stirring the food the second plate’s food temperature was still tepid. Not enjoying it as I did before. In the past during lunch time the restaurant had a robust patronage but today including myself there was only two tables occupied. Maybe a reflection of the diminution of quality.

This review is for their absolutely terrible lunch buffet. I really«tried» to like the food here(high expectations from the reviews) but only met with huge disappointment. I tried EVERYTHING except their salads. Some highlights: — 1. Appetizers — chicken samosa is way too dry and tandoori chicken was… well everything that could go wrong with it — bland, dry and just weird. Both Wada and dosa were a joke especially for place that should specialize in breakfast(You are named«Tiffin» wh… hello) 2. Curries — super bland. This restaurant needs to understand if you want to be inclusive of people who can’t take spicy food, you could still make food with certain amount of good flavor. Not the bland crap that you put in your buffet. 3. Biryani — I didn’t expect this to be a traditional goat biryani by any means but holy mother of poppy Jesus, did they just put a layer of goat curry on a bed of rice??? they didn’t even mix it… maybe do a google image search for biryani sometime? So i don’t understand the good reviews for this pace(unless they have a different cook for their non buffet days?). The only people I would think would give it a good review is who don’t usually eat Indian food and hence don’t know what good indian/south asian food tastes like. Very reluctantly gave an additional star because they merged two tables to accommodate all of us, but then I don’t go to lunch buffets for good service.

Usually not a fan of Indian food but the food and service here invite people! The curry is mild and flavorful, moderately spicy. And I love how tender they made the chicken. As for drinks, Mango Lassi is my all time favorite! The owner of the place is extremely nice and attentive. So are the serving people. I just love how casual and yet well-organized this place is.

I really loafed in selecting this restaurant. Lately I have loafed in selecting Indian restaurants. Reminds me of that time two years ago when I was 0 for 3 in 3 consecutive Facebook friend requests. For $ 15 a dish, I expect more flavor. The aloo gobhi was way below-average, the roti was severely stale, and the papadum was soft on the edges. The chicken vindaloo was okay. My nose wasn’t running or anything.

Plenty of better Indian restaurants in the area. You can skip this one ! I cant think of a single positive. Just average!

Good, casual Indian places in DC are rare. Tiffin is a bit from the downtown area but if you go on a weekend you can be there in 25 minutes. If you are looking for a good South Indian buffet including delicious mini dosas Tiffin is your place. This is not fine dining by any means but the food is quality. The service is great and the food is consistent. I have only had the weekend buffet here and it has always been great. Upon returning from your first trip to the buffet you are almost guaranteed to be greeted by a mini dosa waiting for you at your table. I find them to be the perfect size — you get a taste and you can always get more if desired. Items on the buffet that stand out are the chole, the daal, and the goat curry.

I go there to eat Rava Masala Dosa. It is a large crêpe with lots of potato inside which Is Very tasty. The service is also very good.

Another example of how some of the best food in the DC metro area is in the suburbs. Pretty unassuming place on University Blvd in Hyattsville/Takoma Park, but a solid, flavorful India restaurant. To be fair, it’s not Rasika, but it doesn’t have to be. It delicious, spicy, complex and flavorful India food for a fair price. It made me happy and full, and will do the same for you, I hope.

Best Indian restaurant I’ve ever had:) The service is good and the waiters are all nice. The food is amazing! Love their chicken air palak and biryani. Must try. Desserts are delicious too. Definitely coming back again.

for me, the best test of if you enjoy a restaurant is by simply answering the question«would i want to come back here again?» tiffin gets a resounding«YES!» from me. i went for a sunday lunch after doing a search on Unilocal for chinese buffets, and tiffin was one of the options that popped up. because buffet. i quickly changed my mind and drove to tiffin. i walked in, and noticed how nicely set up the restaurant is. it’s a basic open layout with the buffet toward the back and on the left. lots of tables and chairs that can be easily re-arranged for larger groups. i was quickly seated. i chose the buffet($ 14 on weekends, $ 12 on weekdays) and dove right in. i quickly learned i did not make a mistake in choosing this place. the naan bread, meats, soups, and entrees hit the spot. i was surprised how much i enjoyed the tofu/spinach entrée. i went back for seconds. i also really enjoyed the chicken curry. a bit spicy and oh so yummy. i can’t wait to go back.

Schleping around Takoma Park on a hot day, going from one Indian clothing store to the next, the obvious choice for lunch was an Indian buffet. I don’t know why I expected more… but I did… and I was not impressed. The buffet is heavy on North Indian/Punjabi items, but they are not made to North Indian taste. Everything is just short of being good. The tandoori chicken is not hot enough, the goat curry was bland, the rice was meh. I did thoroughly enjoy the dhai vada(yogurt with fried dough) and the mint chutney, which was the spiciest thing they had.

When we got to the place we had our doubts, as the place is very unassuming and was completely empty at 6pm on a Thursday. We almost committed the grave error of not going in, but are so glad we did. The staff was extremely attentive and the manager(owner?) came by our table several times to make sure we were happy and enjoying our meal — which we were, because it was DELICIOUS! We ordered chicken tikka masala, palak paneer and lamb vindaloo(hesitantly, since it’s hard to find good quality lamb). The dishes came accompanied by a large plate of rice. All the dishes were excellent — The sauces were thick and the flavors were rich, textured and fresh tasting. The palak paneer had pleasantly surprising pops of shredded ginger and a generous amount of paneer. The tikka masala had a wonderfully creamy sauce and was chock full of chicken pieces. The lamb vindaloo was tender and lean and perfectly spicy. The Taj Mahal beers we ordered paired really nicely with our food. Ultimately, we mopped our plates clean with delicious garlic naan. We were hoping that with the amount of food we’d ordered that we’d have leftovers for lunch the next day, but it was so yummy that we couldn’t stop eating and left but one potato and some rice(so generous was the portion — no need to ask for extra). And by the time we left, other tables were filling up.

Meh, I am not a fan. I visited Tiffin after hearing great things about it both on Unilocal and by word of mouth. I wanted to check it out for myself and visited during a weekday at lunch. Service was good, but I was not impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered just the chicken tikka masala and it was $ 17! That’s the most I’ve ever had to pay for one chicken tikka masala entrée. I thought it would still be worth it and tried the food. While the portion of chicken tikka masala and the accompanying basmati rice serving was generous, the food was really tasteless. I could barely taste any of the spices and overall it didn’t leave my stomach feeling too happy. I’ve had a lot of good Indian food in the DC area recently, but sadly Tiffin was just not good. I doubt I’d visit again. For those curious about parking, there is some parking in the parking lot for the little strip mall the restaurant is located in, but I can imagine that it can get quite full during busy times of the day.

So my Indian friend and his family always eat here so the food must be pretty authentic right? We each got something different and tried a bit of all of our dishes. I got the lamb rogan josh. It was not bad. The meat wasn’t as tender as I’ve had in other places, BUT they give you a nice amount of meat. However that is also at the expense of the sauce. I kind of wish it came in a larger bowl because I wanted a little more sauce to go with the meat and rice, but I can’t complain about more meat. Flavor wise it was ok. I think this was a tiny bit more sour than I’ve had. Chicken tikka tasted pretty good. I didn’t know you can get it spicy, but you can here at least. I think this was called bhindi masala — it was an okra dish. I normally don’t like okra, but I liked the way they cooked and seasoned the okra here. My friend also got a chickpea dish with this fried bread that reminded all of us of a Chinese«you tiao» and that was pretty good too(sorry forgot the name) Service was pretty great. We’ve never had our waters refilled so often during a meal

PANEERTIKKAMASALA $ 11(5⁄5 NOMs) Get some hot cheese action with vegetarian paneer dish. So good that you just might forget you love meat for a moment and just enjoy it all its cheesy glory. Paneer dish came very highly recommended to us by one of our Vegetarian nomster fans. Finally a search for our favorite Indian dish is finally complete. Giant pieces of BBQ home made cubes of Paneer cheese, a traditional indian ingredient in vegetarian dishes. Paneer is a un-aged, non-melting farmer cheese or curd cheese made by curdling heated milk with lemon juice or any other acids. In a way its a bit like blue cheese with a very similar texture and flavor levels. Comes in a bowl of traditional thick gooey tomato sauce and yet it doesn’t have too much tomaty flavor. I usually don’t like tomato sauce because of overpowering flavors, but not in this dish. It almost taste like something else, which our guess is the cheese. Great with white rice on top of naan bread. Not too spicy so you won’t burn your mouth away and yet not bland at all this is a perfect dish. This is hands down our new favorite Indian dish with an easy name to remember for next time.

I never expect much when places advertise a buffet, but Tiffin’s lunch buffet is amazing! The interior of the restaurant is pretty nice and there was plenty of seating. The service here is great as well. The waiters are constantly checking on the tables and you never have to wait long for a water refill. The buffet isn’t a huge selection, but what they did have was flavorful. After two trips to the buffet I was stuffed! My favorite items on the buffet were the(sorry for not remembering the names) peas and paneer and the fried potato balls. They also had some tasty chutneys at the end of the buffet. For only $ 11.95 for the lunch buffet, I’ll definitely be back!

Haven’t been here in a while since they combined with Udapi. To start with the outside looks a little shady but once you go inside is very well renovated. The ceiling has an open concept with exposed beams and very intricate design. The food was excellent. To start with you get some pappad which is a spicy crunchy appetizer that goes well with beverages. They have both Taj and Kingfisher which are both great Indian beers. We also tried the chili pakora which was unique in that it was not stuffed instead it was deep-fried Green chilies with some nice spice on top. We also tried the chaat Pappadi which was excellent. For dinner we had mattar paneer be veg Biryiani. I have to say it was the best Biryiani I have ever had. We asked for it spicy and we were pleasantly surprised. Overall the service was excellent, the staff was very attentive and always kept our water glasses full. They also were very quick to bring drinks and appetizers, even though the restaurant was very busy.

Tiffin had good, flavorful food at its buffet, covering a range of tastes and vegetarian vs. non-vegetarian options. The balls of fried dough in honey were unique to me and made for a very good desert. My one complaint is that I would’ve liked some options with heat, but none were available. The décor is relatively spare — it’s mainly a plain, open room highlighted by mirrors on the back wall — and the staff is friendly and efficient.

Best Indian buffet IMO around the area. This is a no frills spot. Nothing fancy nothing flashy. It’s located in a strip mall in Langley park. The staff is really friendly and attentive. The food is always on point. They serve lamb curry every day(well every time we’ve been there. Was once a week for a while). They usually have about three veggies dishes — I loooooove the peas and paneer dish, three or four chicken dishes and the lamb curry. My father and uncle onlyyyyy eat the lamb curry on rice. It is really good but I find myself trying other dishes and stuffing myself with random stuff. My favorite dishes are the lamb curry, pea and paneer, tandoori chicken, and the spinach dish. I think everything is seasoned perfectly. They do not water down anything like some other places I’ve tried. Chicken portions are good and they don’t over cook it. The naan is on the thinner crustier side which I don’t prefer but it’s not bad. Talking about it makes me want to go today! This place does ruin any dieting I try to do… Sigh.
