Tallahassee needs a place like this! Can’t wait to see it complete! Such a classy venue!

We were looking forward to ice skating on Christmas Eve; however, they are closed. The ice rink isn’t too impressive anyways…

This mall is pretty lame at the moment. Besides AMC20, there isn’t much here. They’re redoing this place though so it should be pretty great soon!

I promised myself that I wasn’t going to go to the mall before the renovations were finished… But I had 10 mins to kill on that side of town and stopped in to Burlington Coat Factory to get a peep at the(former) food court, see my photos. I’m excited to see the finished product. Burlington has had significant renovations already and has tons more floor space(new layout). Don’t even get me started on the amazing deals I got on light blocking drapes(set of 2, 84″ for $ 12!!!). Color me excited. Can’t wait!

Vast swaths of abandoned decrepitude. Overall ghetto oeuvre that permeates the entire area. Dodgy businesses run by dodgy people, some of whom look like they sleep in their own stockrooms. Muggers, hookers and other fringe elements inhabiting the parking lot. Over abundance of «gold buyers» and payday loan offices. It’s like Detroit in microcosm! Visitors from our nation’s Rust Belt are made to feel right at home as Tallahassee provides a miniature, indoor theme park of their home environs just a few miles from FSU on North Monroe.

This may be the coolest mall I’ve ever visited, and it’s all thanks to its decline. I never knew the Tallahassee Mall during its heyday as described by locals, but the modern Tallahassee Mall has so much more personality than the boring, typical Governor’s Square Mall. It’s a shame they have so much vacant space, that is true. They still have several stores which serve as a draw. There is a Belk, along with Barnes & Noble and Sports Authority. There is a guitar store in the building, but it doesn’t provide access to the mall proper. As of this writing, this mall had a bit of everything! To mention a few: a fencing studio, a Sam Goody(with a good selection of contemporary vinyl!), a church, a piano store, a MASSIVE internet café/gaming center, a food court with a few decent eateries, a new age store, not to mention a 20-screen AMC theater and an ice cream shop! Would I go here to do a lot of heavy shopping? Of course not. I did pick up a few things at the Belk and some odds and ends at the smaller stores, but it’s really more about the unique experience.

Horrible… what have they turned the place into? The AMC Theatre is the only good place in there… and even that has gone downhill!

When the AMC was built and the new wing added onto the Tallahassee Mall back in 1998, this Mall could do no wrong. The place was filled with stores, customers, and success. A recent visit(after a couple years out of town) revealed that this was in no way the case now. First off, Michelle C’s review stating that this is in a not-so-nice-area of town is a bit ridiculous as any native Tallahasseean knows that the whole North Monroe strip is pretty safe. The problem with this mall is in what’s not there: stores. Chances are if you’re going to this mall that 99% of the time it’s to go to the movies. If not, then you’re probably going to either a shoe store or a jewelry store, since that’s just about all this mall has left. It’s more than a bit depressing to see so many empty spaces in this mall but I guess that’s capitalism for you.

This mall is located in a not so nice area. Just an older area that is run down. At one time I am sure this was a great mall but now you walk in and there are so many vacant storefronts. Really there is nothing this mall has to offer. The inside is not very well taken care of. Dirty, old and yes they need to renovate. Surprised they are still open. There are a few stores to shop in but you can tell by walking through the mall it is empty. Not many patron’s visiting this mall. Governor’s Square Mall is the mall to shop at.
