My 2nd favorite bar in Tallahassee(next to Poor Paul’s). I just visited this place for the first time and was really impressed. The beeristas are super friendly and entertaining and the selection of beers is one of the best I’ve seen here(beers are also pretty fairly priced). What really makes this place special though is the atmosphere. It’s kinda hipstery but in the best way with movie theatre seats and bean bags as chairs and a projector that was playing Dogma. I need to go more often and I highly recommend this place to anyone into craft beers and having a good time.

A sweet little Tallahassee gem, that I’m sad took me so long to find. They have the best bartender service in Tallahassee, hands down. The bartender was super helpful to my friends and I in finding the right beer. He even put on a hat and did a rendition of Willy Wonka. The inside was really chill, with lots of comfy seating. The outside also had a good deal of seating with a little fire going. The beers that I had were great, and they had a good selection of beers(including sours). This place was really chill and had a community vibe to it. I will definitely be back!

This place! When it first opened this place was the only true brewery in town. It was still not known and became quite popular among real Tallahassee locals. I myself was a local there. Then they became too popular, expanded and just lost it for me. Too crowed. It lost its appeal but the beer is the best in town no doubt!

The most relaxing change of pace from the Tallahassee bar scene. Fermentation Lounge is a craft beer hide out for young professionals, worldly adults, and dare I say, the more intellectual patrons of the Tallahassee arts district. The ever-changing tap list(12, I believe) showcases the best microbreweries from around the countries. Oskar Blues, Lagunitas, Bells, etc. I’d elaborate on their extensive selection of ciders, wines and meads, but those aren’t my forte. Also, I learned last night that if you wish to take a beer to go, you may choose any bottled beer and purchase it for 25% off. Fascinating! And also an exceptional ploy to try out those certain brews you can never buy singles of in retail stores. The service is always delightful. Truly outstanding people behind the counter who can actually hold a real-life conversation with you. As for the atmosphere, FL is the place where instead of «turning up,» you read a thick novel while soaking up the most excellent outdoor seating area. And if my two cents means anything, I’d stick with that swanky blues playlist from last night because that’s my jam!

Great place to kick back and enjoy the evening. One of the best porch atmospheres in Tallahassee! The beer selection is extensive, both on tap and bottled, but the viking blöd mead is what you really need to try here.

Great drink selection and very relaxed vibe which is perfect for those nights where Collegetown and Midtown is just too much.

Love this place for its atmosphere and quiet intimate ambiance. There are now snacks available, but they are kinda pricy. The bartenders are well versed in the beers they serve and can cater to your desires.

We had great visit for a couple of beers and a light dinner. Great beers for $ 4.50/pint, good fresh food, great acoustic blues playing, and friendly and helpful bartenders. It is amazing that this exists in Tallahassee, especially on the Friday before the Miami-FSU game. Hallelujah!

Best draught beer selection in Tallahassee. Outside seating, close to art district, knowledgeable staff, mixed crowd, and food next door(vegetarian friendly).

One of the best craft beer spots in Tallahassee along with Proof. «Ferm» is located on the bottom floor of a small apartment complex on the very small, three block long road of All Saints in a not so well lit neighborhood. Tap list is small… perhaps 10 – 15 taps at the most with relatively quick rotation. When they originally opened, the tap list had essentially zero Florida beers. Now, thankfully, that has changed as they offer local craft along with occasionally their own creations made on one of the smallest brew systems I’ve seen. They do offer wine for non-beer drinkers and actually mead. They will do mead flights and beer flights, which is nice if you don’t know what to order. Atmosphere during the day is calm and chill. During the evening, it is a quirky young adult hangout. Service somehow improved when it was very busy– extremely easy to get a beer. Not too loud, people playing board games. Cool place no doubt. You can sit out front on the porch and drink during all operating hours.

Fermentation is my favorite place to be on a Sunday afternoon. They have an awesome patio which I find is a lovely place to be on a slow afternoon. The beer selection is huge and I believe could impress even the snobbiest of beer fans. They also have wine and sangria which is what I usually get. I like that they also offer board games to play while you’re having a drink. This is a small bar so on popular nights it can be really crowded. This isn’t a bar where you’ll find dancing or a crazy special. The crowd is a little more grown-up than what you find in College Town. It’s a place you might find your T.A. or dad at. Sometimes you want to grab a drink and just chill with your friends and this is the perfect place for that.

This is one of my favorite bars in town. Very chill and friendly atmosphere. Craft beer selection is great, so there’s always something new to try! Plus, awesome little food place right next door with the BEST hummus!

Very cool bar. Too be clear here, the name refers to alcohol fermentation, not fermented teas(don’t come in with the wrong expectations). Came in on a Sunday afternoon and had a few draft beers. It was Grilled Cheese Day so they had several grilled cheese sandwiches for specials — my friends and I ordered a sampling, one of each, and were very satisfied. We sat at the bar and the bartender was pretty friendly.

One of the first boutique-ish brew pubs that I’d been to in TLH, Fermentation Lounge offers a great indoor/outdoor location, ample options on tap, and a general hipster feel with a broad range of patrons. We’ve come a ½ dozen times or so, and each time, the bartenders are very knowledgeable of the offerings. Ideal times(for me) are fall & spring, as I think the real upside is in spilling out on the outdoor deck(rather hot in the summer, hit/miss cold in the winter).

This is best bar in town to go to and meet educated friendly professionals. I love to introduce people to this small but humble bar. I had the privilege to meet the owners and know all the staff personally. The service is fantastic and friendly unlike other bars in the area. One exciting thing is that they brew there own beer that is beyond good. I believe there is a citrus summer ale there that i find to be just hands down charming and perfect. The décor is upgraded and flirty comfortable. Recently I gobbled up a suculant presed cuban sandwich that tickled my delicate and scandalous tastebuds! If you decide to enjoy this classy and amazing selection ask for«Noll» she gives great service and I adore her!

I’m no beer connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, but if you’re looking for a place with an incredible selection of micro-brews and an ever-changing beer menu then look no further. This humble watering hole is definitely one of the most unique bars in Tallahassee. The element that sets them apart from most places is that the bartenders know the beer they’re serving just like any waitstaff would know a menu in a fine dining restaurant. Overall, it’s an incredibly laid back vibe surrounded by memorabilia from the past decades and simply put — a chill place to grab a great brew. It’s narrow bar with not much space to speak of, but that can be easily tolerated for the unique experience.

Great bar with limited indoor seating. Beer Selection: Top notch. The best thing about Fermentation is the changing beer selection. Beers on tap change weekly, and they always have a brew that is up your alley. At least ten new beers every week. The bottle menu is extensive and can definitely satisfy any palette. Service: The bartenders are very knowledgable and kind. They do a tremendous job of taking orders, even when there’s only standing room in the entire bar. Atmosphere: Very laid back. Curious mix of older students, government workers, artists, and young professionals. There is always an interesting conversation just an eavesdrop away. An enjoyable outdoor seating area. The inside of the bar can get a little crowded during peak hours. Overall, a great place to grab a drink in Tally.

Hands down, my sons’ favorite bar in Tallahassee and one of mine as well. This was his last time at Ferm since the purpose of my trip was to help him move to California. I guess you could say the«party» was for him since I met many people who were friends, co-workers and faculty at FSU. The bar had put aside some special bombers just for us to taste and they were all great. This place has an awesome selection of beers, both on tap and in bottles, with a limited menu of munchies. There is, however, a little sandwich shop right next door. Ferm is located in a neighborhood on a little side street and, like another reviewer has said, you need to look for it. Nothing flashy on the outside, or inside for that matter. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Their selection of beers is awesome and constantly changing. Go here for good beer and mead and always great conversations. I will miss going here when visiting in Tallahassee.

I’m not going to sit here and claim that Fermentation Lounge is the equivalent of the Toronado or Redlight Redlight, but I can say with certainty that it’s a hip craft beer bar that does a excellent job with its tap selection and bottle list. Like many a good beer geeks’ hangout, Fermentation is a relatively unassuming bar from the outside, tucked back within a neighborhood. It’s not the kind of place one will randomly happen upon while strolling around Tallahassee — you have to want to find it. Sampler flights of three are offered, which is always a nice touch. It’s also possible to go with a «double flight» of 6, which is exactly what we did. Not with beer, but with mead, mind you — turns out this place boasts a nice little mead selection, and the guys behind the counter are more than happy to let you in on it. I particularly enjoyed the Viking Blod, a mead of which I have a bottle at home, but have been afraid to crack open because it’s 19% ABV. I shouldn’t have been hesitant. It sounds big and tough, and does indeed look like blood due to the addition of hibiscus, but it’s surprisingly gentle and balanced for such a powerful beverage. My visits to Tallahassee-area bars weren’t comprehensive, but from what I did experience, my feeling is that this is the best beer bar in town.
