It has been 5 or more years since I have dined at Harry’s because we do not have one in the city in which I currently live. I visited the restaurant with my cousin who loves seafood. When I arrived there was not anyone standing at the host stand. I waited for several minutes without being greeted until my cousin called to tell me where she was sitting. This was not a good first impression but we were hungry and ready to eat. I was undecided about what to order so I narrowed it down to a few items. I knew I wanted seafood and something that I could not usually get at home. The shrimp and grits, creole pasta and the shrimp and scallop creole all were appealing based on the description. At the recommendation of our server Jeff, I chose the shrimp and scallop creole. He said it was one of his favorites so I gave it a try. The blackened shrimp and scallops are served in a tasso ham cream sauce over grit cakes. I am sometimes iffy on grit cakes but their version was firm but creamy in texture. The grits seemed to be mixed with cheese which added a nice flavor. Since I don’t like a lot of spice Jeff had my seafood only lightly blackened which was perfect for me. There was enough seasoning to add flavor without burning my mouth. The entrée overall was good. I wish there had been more sauce placed on top because that is the highlight of the dish for me. Although the portion was a bit small in my opinion, I thought it was sufficient for lunch. I ordered the red beans and rice as my side and they were underwhelming. The beans were dry and lacked flavor. I actually sent it back and exchanged my side for the seasonal vegetables instead. My cousin ordered the shrimp po boy deluxe which comes with bacon on top. She enjoyed it very much. Prior to the delivery of the meals bread is served. Now the bread that’s not worth talking about, it’s the butter that comes with it. Man that butter hasn’t changed since my last visit and I am so glad it hasn’t. That butter tastes like it has cream cheese and garlic in it and man o man is it everything. Our server Jeff was freakin awesome. He was attentive, accommodating and knowledgeable. He had a great attitude and fulfilled all of our needs without hesitation. He made what I thought was going to be a not so awesome experience much better because of the level of service he provided.

If you like eggplant and crab DONOT skip the Napoleon in the appetizer section. It’s a meal in itself. I had the fried oysters and shrimp plate. The cole slaw is light and fluffy. The shrimp and oysters came with dipping sauce, but were super without. The oysters melted in my mouth and the shrimp coating was light and complemented the shrimp. Oh before dinner is bread with a savory seasoned butter — crispy crust, light inside. My only suggestion is to switch the fries with either sweet potato fries or something fresh and green. But if you like fried that much, it’s great. I had lunch which is served til four. Great service. Again, I don’t like doting servers and Marla seemed to know when to stop by. A little pricy but who wants bad fried clams?

This Harry’s is even better than the one we usually goto in Ocala mainly because of the gorgeous view from the outside seating area, but also the bar is a little more accessible. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and awesome dirty Martinis. Service was terrific and the entire restaurant was clean and well staffed. We will return to this Harry’s every time we visit Tallahassee!

We had a late lunch at Harry’s yesterday. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for 2:30 on Saturday. May have been the happy hour drink prices! I had the crawfish etouffe and my husband had the arugula trout. Both meals were prepared perfectly and were very delicious. Our waitress was the right amount of friendly and attentive. The dining room is warm and comfortable and the view over the city is so pleasant. We have eaten at Harry’s many times and are never disappointed.

I don’t know who Harry is, but I would like to shake his hand. This place really gets it, and by it I mean how to affectively bring great New Orleans and seafood to a government college town like Tallahassee. I was here just the other evening, and although I cannot afford to come here as much as I would like I always enjoy my time hear like a baby enjoys his or her first birthday cake. I’m talking face first into a pile of killer cuisine up to my ears kind of taste bud magic especially if we are talking jambalaya. Speaking of jambalaya, it just so happens that is what I ordered on my last visit, and it took me literally three spectate meals of eating on this mountain of food to finish it all. The flavor was like a roundhouse kick to the mouth delivered by a voodoo priest and the price really was not unreasonable either. This place is always packed especially while congress is in session, but believe me when I say that it is well worth the wait. Service is friendly, ambiance is pleasant, and portions are huge. The only slightly negative thing I can think of is parking is probably going to cost a trivial amount of money due to Harry’s location in downtown, but fortunately the main garage is right next door.

Just woke up from a Harry’s induced nap. Today the world and my taste buds changed for the better as I celebrated a graduation lunch today at the bar. Bartender Jordan helped elevate me to an experience with food that I will never forget: she suggested Chicken and Grits, with collards on the side. It was everything I needed at that second. 2 perfectly fried juicy chicken breast on top of a mountain of scrumptious collard greens that was circled by a ring of cheesy grits, inside of some sort of magical gravy. Hallelujah. I felt like Beyoncé during a concert. I promise I hit a few notes of; «mmm mmm mmm» with my first bite! That meal today will be remembered and included on my best things ever list. Service was great and my big easy drink was very melon-y. Happy I went today!

Been here on multiple occasions, it is great for a special occasion or even just a couples quick dinner. The food is fantastic! I’ve yet to venture past their amazing red beans and rice. Two big sausages accompany the traditional meal and the portion is big enough to share. The bar is good as well, multiple tvs and a broad selection of liquor. If you like Louisiana style food than Harry’s is the next place you should try.

Maybe I hit them on an off night. More likely, I ordered the wrong thing. Even though they confessed to me the crawfish used in the ettouffe came frozen from China, I ordered it anyway. After all, it was supposedly farm raised. Wondering … With the human rights record of China, do the crawfish truly get to roam free or are they kept in little cages? The rice tasted like minute rice that was pulled from the refrigerator after being cooked the day before. The crawfish base had a slight hint of having included something rotten. I ate it anyway, and now I don’t feel so good. If you do not see any further reviews from me from any other establishment, you’ll know why. Say a prayer for me.

I visited for a late lunch and had the redfish with crab meat on top. All was delicious. Well seasoned, good temperature. The cheesy grits are a great side, and I highly recommend them with anything. If you’re a Yankee, don’t be afraid that they are grits. Just trust me. You can park in the Kleman Plaza parking area for the easiest access. This is also just a short walk from the capital building if you are visiting there for tourist things. This also seems like a classy enough place to visit for a work lunch.

I absolutely love this place and it never disappoints me. Harry’s is the closest restaurant to an authentic New Orleans dining experience. As far as food goes, everything on the menu is great. My favorite dish here is the Pasta Chicken Louisianne and the menu calls for it either blacken(my favorite) or grilled. Once again, never a let down. On a side note, I’ve been here on multiple occasions where I only order sides and even those are amazing. They have this grit cake and it is the best I’ve ever had(even better than when I visited New Orleans). All in all, I am a frequent flyer here and it is well worth it!

I love the atmosphere here, it feels like a huge dining room. The bread is fantastic and they have plenty of drinks. I got the classic burger and it was perfect. My friend got the beans and rice and she said it was great. The prices are a bit higher but its worth the money. This place is good for parties, kids, and date nights. So its a well-rounded restaurant. The staff is wonderful and they do have patio seating. I highly recommend making a reservation because it can get crowded.

We searched Unilocal for some seafood restaurants in Tallahassee and decided upon Harry’s. What a treat! The service was excellent, atmosphere casual but very nice, and the food was exceptional. The food was also well priced compared to a very similar restaurant chain in our hometown. We liked it so much we dined there three nights in a row. Tuesday all apps are $ 7 and drinks are on special all day. I recommend the Jazzy Trio appetizer with the blackened crab encrusted redfish over corn succotash and smashed potatoes.

I was really looking forward to eating at Harry’s based on the recommendation of a co worker, and of course, the reviews posted on Unilocal. Sadly, I was very disappointed. Perhaps it was the time of day; maybe because I ordered it «to go»… Either way, I will not return. Let me begin by saying that trying to find this place is virtually impossible if you don’t live in Tallahassee! The one way streets, the confused GPS, it’s location tucked away in a courtyard above a parking garage, you name it! Finally I found a road and parked along its’ side facing the«right way» as it was a one way street. I hiked across two streets to reach the destination. I was determined at this point that I would eat here! I ordered my food«to go» and it was waiting at the counter when I arrived. I ordered the Blackened Mahi Mahi with a side of the Corn Grits as my main dish, and based on the reviews I read, I ordered the Bread Pudding for dessert. The total came to about $ 25. Mind you, this was lunchtime. The Mahi Mahi was nothing like described on the menu. There was no «lemon cream sauce» on the filet. There was, however, what appeared to be an «already squeezed» lemon slice on the side. Yuck! The fish did not taste fresh and was tough. The grits were very sticky and heavy. I was disappointed. I will say, the Bread Pudding was very rich and delicious although they forgot what I consider to be the best part — they forgot to give me the vanilla ice cream! Instead, on the side, there was a container filled with what they refer to as their«white chocolate bourbon sauce». It tasted nothing like chocolate or bourbon! I tossed it! I guess my advice to those considering visiting Harry’s is ether, «don’t get your meal to go», or «if you do get it to go, make sure you check to make sure they include everything you paid for!!!»

Along with a handful of other joints, Harry’s is an established meeting point for the«seen & be seen» set — be they politicos or local movers/shakers. Everything is in its favor to be so: location, décor, food/bev lineup, and that certain je né sais quoi. The menu provides a solid seafood lineup which I tend to favor. Chefs know their business and plating/presentation is always thoughtful. The She-Crab chowder is very good. Generally, lunch portions are liberal and the price points are unexpectedly reasonable given the atmosphere. A very good blackened mahi mahi with sides come to $ 13. It’s the portion other places might refer to as «dinner portion». The calamari appetizer is lightly breaded/fried along with fried pole beans(or maybe they’re green beans). The complementary bread/but is lightly toasted and good.

A-OK I dined at Harry’s with a big group of 18 guys and we all had different experiences. A-OK is about the best way to describe everyone’s meal that night. The food was good. Everything was just packed with flavor, borderline over seasoned. I got a large order of the mussels and those were pretty tasty. Although, the mussels did have a bit of a pasty consistency after a few chews. Frozen? I’m not sure. Best part of this appetizer was the sauce, everyone kept dipping the bread in the sauce. My she-crab soup was too sweet. I was hoping for more of that«she-crab» flavor. The cup portion of soup was generous and filling. My entrée, crab crusted red fish was good and rich in flavor. The service was not as bad as you would expect for a table of 18. The only thing some complained about was water not being filled enough, everything else was good. Next time when I visit Tallahassee I would come back to give Harry’s another shot. Just with a smaller party.
