I actually quite like Lafayette Park. Although it is not the largest park and the path is a little unkempt, it is still beautiful. It’s pretty hilly and full of trees. There’s a volleyball area and a little bridge. There are also some tennis courts and play areas. It’s always incredibly quiet here and I imagine it is really peaceful in the fall when the weather is cooler. So pick a spot under the shade, sit back and enjoy nature. That’s what this place is perfect for.

Lafayette Park is oddly layed out in its design, but succeeds as a bare bones park for all. The trails are minimalist, yet contain DIY fitness«facilities» along the way. Ab machine, step up planks, etc. Out back are tennis courts, softball fields, and a kids playground. I’d consider this the poor man’s Myers Park of Tallahassee. There are no lights along the trails, so once it’s dark it’s game over. Although right near midtown, there’s a slight eerie feel to Lafayette Park. Regardless, it’s worth giving a chance.
