So so so disappointed– and it keeps getting worse. When we moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago, I was excited to have Thai available in such a convenient location. With a 2 year old, we eat most of our restaurant meals via takeout so proximity is key. The first several times we ordered(almost 2 yrs ago), the food was excellent. Sushi was fresh– combinations weren’t really creative, but good enough to fulfill the craving. Thai dishes were delicious– spicy, great flavors and very reminiscent of my favorite Thai restaurant when we lived in Atlanta. Lately, however, things have taken a nose dive and tonight’s experience was by far the worst. My Pad See Ew with seafood was dry, rubbery and completely flavorless, despite having been ordered as «medium heat.» My husband’s duck entrée was similarly dry. As much as I love Thai food, at $ 50 a pop for a meal for 2, we won’t be back and instead will be planning our Thai nights with a babysitter and a proper night out to another restaurant.

Bottom line: It’s A-OK. It really is.(remember, folks — «A-OK» is a positive endorsement. A-OK doesn’t mean something sucks!) Before I get started here, I need to clarify one rule I follow when reviewing. I try hard to not compare restaurants in Tallahassee with those in far-away(more than a convenient drive) locales. It’s just not fair. Case in point: I’m a sea urchin NUT. I really am. I’m NOT going to find a local fishmonger that peddles fresh sea urchin. Good luck with that in MOST major U.S. cities, BTW. I’m not talking about the rack of sea urchin that you can find in bigger city asian markets for around $ 16. I’m talking about unopened Sea Urchin. Well, I’m not going to say that Southern Seafood, Capital Seafood or Stearns Seafood are bad because they don’t offer unopened Sea Urchin. That just wouldn’t make sense. Similarly, it would be unfair of me to compare ANY Thai place here to those I first enjoyed up in the PNW. I think it’s only fair to compare restaurants to their OWN local competition. No restaurant in town needs to compete with the«big leagues»(although a good number of them do, BTW). They just need to compete locally. At least, that’s how I see it — and, just so you know, that’s in large part how my star-system is used. So — to Siam Bistro… I came at 3PM — an awkward time for any establishment. I ordered the chef’s sushi special(I’m pretty sure that’s what it was called, but it was a sushi/sashimi/nigiri special for $ 22) as well as a miso soup. The miso soup was visually very attractive. I found it a bit salty for me, but good. I ordered a sushi-sashimi-nigiri«special» for $ 22. Take a look at the picture. It was good. It’s uncharacteristic of me to order sushi in a place that serves Thai — but I took a chance. Next time, I’ll be curious about how the Thai dishes are rendered. I’ll return for that.

The locals of Tallahassee might hate my negative reviews, one after another. But visiting from New York City, it’s very hard not to compare. Coming in for a pickup at the clean, modern, and tastefully decorated space with a high ceiling was very promising. The staff took care of our order was efficient and polite. But everything went down, very wrong, from this point. Some ordered Sushi and other from Thai choice — I was one of them. I follow Anthony Bourdain’s advice in his book: «no seafood on Monday» Shishito Peppers: this appetizer was greasy and salty peppers were enjoyable, especially with a some heat from the peppers. Vegetarian Spring Rolls($ 6) was«don’ts»(sadly more don’ts are coming up). Nicely fried and crispy rolls had a strange unknown creamy filling and tasted funny. The apricot house sauce that came with sounded exciting but it had very odd texture and taste. Tom Yum soup $ 5 with shrimp was diluted and sad, less wonderful flavors of Thai. I asked for medium spicy but came super spicy(different from Thai spicy) to the point l could not stop coughing for awhile. Strong heat hit first, usually Cayenne peppers: Thai chili is deep this coming out later. Two shrimps in a soup was rubbery, so as Jumbo Coconut Shrimp $ 8. Pad Mee Kao(Drunken Noodle) $ 13 with a choice of chicken was very disappointing. Drunken Noodle is one of my Thai food favorites so I know very well how it should be and the best I had was a street of Bangkok. It was super spicy yet with a depth of complex flavors with that soft-chewy and tasty wide rice noodles. Thai Bistro version of this dish was less garlic and Thai complex flavors. What I mostly disappointed was the noodle they used. The width of the flat rice noodle is traditionally about four times wider, soft, and chewy: soaking up all the flavors becomes amazing. Wider than Fettuccine rice noodle was too firm noodle to duplicate a traditional way. I didn’t dare wanting to taste Sushi rolls or Nigiris others ordered, epecially anything with tuna. The fresh sheen had long gone and partially changing its reddish color to purple brown concerned me, but only one had an unsettling bowl movement and complaining next day. I also didn’t like the soy sauce that came with. Marked«less sodium» it was very salty and lacked in soy flavor. There are many fake soy sauce, coming from China, even the ingredients say so. If you decided to have Sushi here, do bring your own favorite«real» soy sauce with you.

This is probably one of the worst Thai places I have ever been to… I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and two orders of pad Thai(one for me and the bf). The shrimp tempura roll is one of the most basic rolls I have ever had. I’ve had many shrimp tempura rolls that were amazing, and this one was very mediocre. Moving on to the pad Thai… I was very disappointed with the pad Thai. I love Siam sushi so I thought the bistro would have the same quality of food. Boy was I wrong. The pad Thai(both of them) are literally burned. I guess because I ordered take out the chef didn’t think it would matter. I noticed when I took the boxes to my car something smelled funky. I will NEVER go to this place again. If you’re looking for good Thai food, I suggest going to tally Thai and sushi on Pensacola street. Service and food is 10x better than this place.

If you go, sit at the sushi bar if you’re able. Corbin and Mike will take good care of you. Tell them what you like and they will create some of the best sushi you will ever eat. I’ve traveled to Japan and have eaten at some of the most notable places here in the States, from San Francisco to NYC to Miami. These two are passionate about their craft and you they don’t disappoint.

We have visited this restaurant for a long time and continually are served fresh sushi, amazing dishes and have awesome service. The sushi is made from all fresh ingredients and is displayed to perfection. The service is always on task! I appreciate the owners continually watching and being sure that all is running smoothly. Thank you Siams for amazing food, service and hospitality!

Nice atmosphere. Weird, awkward service. My food was alright. My sister’s dinner smelled like a stank foot which had been urinated upon.

This is our favorite sushi place in Tallahassee. Their specialty rolls are wonderful! Their Thai food is delicious as well. We always have great service. A must try place!

I had lunch at 1pm and it took 30 minutes to get a Bento box-there were only 2 tables including mine. It was hot, like they couldn’t afford to run the A/C kind of hot. The Bento box was $ 15; the tuna was fresh but nothing to justify such a high price for the same Bento I can get several other places in town for much less. I won’t be going back.

I am on a business trip in Tallahassee and stopped in for lunch today. I ordered summer roll appetizer and a lunch portion spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna came first(I didn’t care, but I did order an appetizer). The first piece was cold, very cold. The second was when I realized the tuna was still frozen. I then put my finger into the next three pieces: all frozen. The waiter apologize, made poor excuses and told me it wasn’t frozen(he didn’t touch or taste it), brought me my appetizer, about 5 to 7 minutes later, which incidentally was absolutely delicious. And still only giving two stars for making and serving frozen tuna sushi(nothing spicy about the spicy tuna either), and for giving me bad excuses for frozen lunch. Because it was a weekday and business for me, I did not have time for them to remake be anything nor did they offer

A little pricey, but really good! The Mongolian beef was the best I ever had. Service was ok. Atmosphere nice. Would definitely recommend!

I have been here a couple times since my first review. The draw for me is usually the panang curry and Tom Ka soup. Our foursome ordered appetizers, entrees and drinks. Each entrée was beautifully presented and the dinner was a hit. Especially the soup. The service was a bit spotty but it was a busy night. When we entered, there were only a few tables occupied. When we left, they were slammed. Fast forward– came for lunch. Ordered the king special that came with miso, salad, choice of rolls.(Spicy tuna was my choice.) I had a $ 3 up charge for the Tom Ka. It was good — almost as good as Siam Sushi.

Excruciatingly slow. The food was good but seriously an hour wait on a Tuesday night with a mostly empty restaurant? When entrees came out they were great!

Nice place, nice menu selection, fine service, terrible implementation. The teriyaki sauce for the salmon was way too salty and the spinach chips were super greasy, making the $ 20 entrée inedible. My husband got the pad Thai, and instead of a traditional peanut sauce, they used the pad see ewe sauce which the waiter confirmed was not a mistake, but just the way they make it here. Never coming back.

Fantastic. My favorite restaurant in town. Great sushi, but even better Thai. The Tom Kha(spelling??) soup is my choice dorky last meal on earth.

This is good sushi for tallahassee. I’ve always had great service and been happy with my food. The presentation is very nice portions are appropriate and filing and the sushi bar clearly uses a high quality product. Higher then most sushi joints in town in my opinion, my only complaint is that my sashimi deluxe dinner featured only salmon and 3 different kinds of tuna; not much of a variety for my taste and the hamachi was probably not thawed enough/correctly.

Went there recently with the family. We had several of their rolls and some pad Thai. The pad Thai was very good(that’s why 2 stars); the rolls pretty close to awful! Service was also not very good and we waited a very, very long time for our food. Our rolls came out first and then we had another wait for the pad Thai. The manager did come to our table to apologize; it seems the kitchen was«backed up». Bottom line, next time I want Thai I’ll go to Reangthai and for some good rolls there are a lot of better places in Tallahassee.

Meh honestly not the best sushi in Tally. I prefer Sakura far better and they have much more choice. Service is pretty slow especially regarding sushis. I’m honestly not sure why. I mean it’s good because it means it’s freshly done but 20 min? With 3 tables total? Dunno about that. I will honestly go to Sakura for sushi in the future HOWEVER I will come back for their Thai food as I have yet to try it!
