I decided to check this place out after driving by it hundreds of times. I had the 2 piece crispy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and mac n cheese. I am impressed! Talk about delicious! Everything is made to order and the ingredients are fresh. I went thru the drive thru and had to wait 5 minutes for my order. I was shocked at the price. My sandwich, 2 sides and a drink came to $ 12. Yes, its not the typical cheap fast food and yes I did order 2 sides… The Sunrise/Tamarac location servers beer in the dining room! I will be back yes, and I will try something else, possibly the gyros.

Wow super disappointed! Drove all the way from parkland because I was craving char-hut! I have been eating here for years and even worked here when I was a teen. So I just opened my food I picked up from drive thru and I want to go back and give it back. I asked for a tuna cooked medium with the pita on the side(because I know it would be soggy from the drive home) well the guy told me it would be extra $ to have the pita on the side so I said«fine just put it on the pita then» ?? Extra lettuce, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, white mushrooms and tzaziki dressing on the side(specifically said that and mentioned how it would just make the pita even more soggy) can’t believe I’m writing a paragraph over a sandwich but come on… 8 $ and a 20 minute drive for a sandwich that’s totally wrong. The pita was totally drenched in tzaziki dressing 3 large chunks of tomatoes and cooked mushrooms not the white mushrooms… very little lettuce. 2 stars because the staff was very friendly at the window and because at one time chat-hit was the best!

The food is always amazing, but the girl in the drive through is never happy and rarely has a smile on her face she looks like Aneesa Ferreira from Real World. I try to always smile and be bubbly to get her to be happy as well, but unfortunately she doesn’t reciprocate, but besides that the food is good.

Adore this place –Love the char grilling — the kids behind the counter are SO darn Nice and very customer service oriented. I love the grilled chicken, and my family loves the char burgers — I enjoy creating my salad there with all the fixings. Yummy! LOVETHEDRIVETHRU!!! Enjoy!!!

This is one of the best burgers and fries I’ve had in a while. I was in the area for work and was starving after and like the photos I saw on Unilocal. Even though it’s «fast food» the burger was made to order and you get to choose a ton of toppings. You even get a choice of bun!!! The lettuce and tomato I had tasted clearly fresh as both had great taste and a great crisp. The cheese fries were also fresh And hot and the cheese on top was really hot, not a gelatinous mess. I wish they had a Char-Hut in Miami! Bottom line: when you need a burger and fries fix and the other fast food joints just don’t cut it. If I lived near here I would be here way too often. Come here. Have a burger. Or two. Or three. And cheese fries. DOIT!

Updating my previous review, because I have come to love this place. We obviously went here on a bad day, when I left a terrible rating. It was nearly closing time, and they were tired, distracted, or both. The experience wasn’t good that time. Been there twice again, and must say, it deserves the legendary status among the community. Delicious burgers, amazing choices of condiments, and good service. My favourite item is actually the fiesta meal. It’s still a fast food place, but they char the burgers fresh so the overall it is healthier and tastier than a typical chain. Highly recommended

Great food, horrible customer service and restaurant presentation. Isabella was very inattentive to her customers. Tables weren’t wiped down and floors weren’t swept. Employees throwing food at each other. However Cameron was very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu.

Stopped in the other night and damn near filled up the joint(party of 10) lol. I haven’t been to Char-Hut in ages. My sister actually worked here ages ago when she was in high school so we were regulars. The place has changes a bit since then but the same basic principal still applies. Fresh quality food at fast food speed. This time I opted for the char-chicken on a pita, frings(onion rings and French fries combined), and plantains. They put fresh toppings of your choice on your order with a quickness. Char-Hut is definitely a go to when you’re looking for something fresh, tasty, and healthy(ish) but with speed. The interior décor has remained the same over the years, but there’s no need for anything fancy when you’ve got a good product. My only complaint was they got rid of the birch beer as a fountain drink option and only have it bottles now. Boooooooooo Other than that. Love char-hut

Always a great meal here! Family owned south florida chain with your casual American fare plus a 4.99 Fiesta meal deal which is a huge amount of food with grilled chicken. Delicious! At least check out this place once!

Had the absolute worst meal today, burger and fries(for $ 10.16) I went through the drive through which must be from 1950. They left the cheese off my mediocre burger and the fries were so undercooked that the inside had that horrible frozen/crystallized texture. Never again.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid with my dad so considering it’s a «fast food» restaurant I have a lot of nostalgia tied into my relationship with Char Hut. It was always a treat coming here because I love burgers and it wasn’t right around the corner from us so when we did get to go it felt like a special trip. Anyway, on to the reason why you’re reading– I’m a big fan of the food here. The chicken sandwiches and burgers(single or doubles) are always consistently delicious. The chili cheese fries are some of the best I’ve ever had, and I love the sweet tea. Yeah, it’s not the cheapest burger joint, but I’ve never left disappointed so for an extra couple bucks I’ll gladly trade them for consistency and quality. If I’m ever in the mood for a quick burger, Char Hut is my go-to spot every single time. I’ve gone to some of the newer franchised locations and I would recommend you try one of the original locations like this one in Tamarac for the true Char Hut experience.

First time at this Char Hut and the food and drive-through service were consistent with that of other locations I’ve enjoyed. Food quality and service are always solid. I had the char-grilled chicken sandwich, and ordered it as the marinated chicken sandwich. Basically, it’s the regular grilled chicken sandwich with some Italian-style dressing put on it during grilling. Super yum!!! It used to appear on the menu as an option, but doesn’t anymore. You can still order it that way though, and I’ve never had an employee be confused by my order. I’m always happy with any chicken sandwich or burger I order from Char Hut. For«fast food,» it’s really good, fresh and well made. Can’t ask for more.

Tried the place twice. Overpriced, dry and flavorless burgers. Bland liquid cheese on the fries. The fried onion rings are good but very oily. The smoke from the vents radiate outside the prep area. One of the older male staff at the grill was swearing and rude to his other employees and poking fun at them and ordering them around. Used a groupon, wasn’t worth it. Will not go back.

When you want your food cooked fast; but not fast food, drive to, or drive thru Char Hut! We’ve eaten here and from here on several occasions and today was no different in regards to food quantity as well as, quality. I ordered the Fiesta Meal w/pita; which consists of white rice, homemade style black beans, thin-sliced chicken on the grill and then cut, plus sweet plantains. My daughter ordered an all beef hot dog which came with thick-cut fries, a fountain drink and a chocolate chip cookie. As usual, the food was well prepared; however, the service needs improvement. They called my order; but when I brought it back to the table, the fries were missing from the kids combo, and the pita from mine. In addition to this, I had requested of the young man behind the counter for salsa on the side and he must have not heard me because he was so distracted with his female co-workers at the time; but he put it all over my chicken. When I went back nicely to advise that there were a couple of items missing, a young girl rudely said she would bring it to our table. Additionally, the children’s corner could use a little sprucing up! Therefore, giving them the benefit of the doubt on a busy Wednesday evening(please see the pic. attached), I rate this experience with a whopping three stars! :/

I’m a regular to this location since I work in the area. I did a call-in order today which is super convenient. You can just call in your order and go through the drive thru to pick it up or go inside if you have time. The staff is always friendly but sometimes a little frazzled as lunchtime can get a little busy. I like that Caitlyn always remembers who you are(and where you work) even if she doesn’t quite remember your name. Usually when you order inside you can ‘babysit’ your food everything comes out great. My only complaint about today’s visit was that we asked that the fries be well done and they were just barely cooked. I don’t do too many call ahead orders but I think next time I’ll allow more time to go in and order to make sure everything is done the way I want. Everything else we ordered was great!

I used to be a real stickler for their burgers. I hated going here because I thought they were overpriced. Honestly, now I crave their burgers. Their prices are high, but if you get two burgers and a large fry to share, it’s not as bad. The taste of the fresh grill is what does it for me. The burgers are juicy enough for me not to need condiments like ketchup or mustard, and I usually add fresh mushrooms and char hut hot sauce.

This was my first time eating at a Char Hut and it was pretty much what I expected. The food was average. The one aspect that I was pleasantly surprised at was how friendly the staff was. The employee who took my order was really nice and accomodating and she even read the order back to make sure that she had typed it in correctly. I ordered the ¼ grilled chicken sandwich w/fries and I had a coupon for a free hot dog. The hot dog was average and the chicken sandwich was about the same. They actually gave me a decent portion of fries which was nice. I decided to sit outside although I probably wouldn’t choose to sit outside again due to the birds. This place is a little old and run down; however, I understand that this location has been in business for a really long time. I probably will try their burgers in the future.

Classic. This is a reason to move to South Florida. Order a «char-cheese with white american on a poppy seed bun» and then, at toppings station, «hot sauce only.» It’s not hot but it is sauce. Anything else in your burger will take away from the purity of this signature sauce with roots from Ted’s Hotdogs in Buffalo. Order the onion rings. totally worth it. go now and go often.

Charhut is a great place to get an honest to goodness burger but don’t expect to be impressed by the décor. I’ve been coming to this Charhut for a few years now even though it is some 8 miles from my house. Why drive 8 miles for a char chicken sandwich? They are truly that good. Here at char hut the food is simply excellent but the décor like going to a fast food restaurant in the 70’s. If you can ignore the mediocre surroundings you’re in for a treat. Charhut offers not only great burgers but chicken breast, steak, sausage or even sushi grade tuna on a kaiser roll. I hear the tuna is very good but I always seem to order the same thing. A double chicken breast with cheese and sautéed mushrooms(only) just incredible. My Son will instantly agree to eat here so it makes it a fast way to end the«what’s for dinner» debate. On Price… Yes you will shell out about $ 8-$ 10 per person here but I’m telling you Unilocalers… It’s worth it. Occasionally they have coupons or a groupon going on and this can help to make it more reasonable but I don’t mind paying for quality and quality is what you get at Charhut. The staff is always fairly nice(it is a fast food place) and the digs are meager, but come for the food and you won’t be disappointed. I’m giving Charhut 4 stars for food alone as the décor and price must be ignored at times in the search for quality food. Charhut has no pretenses, they serve excellent food at a relatively fair price and are consistent every time I go.

This place was surprisingly good! I don’t eat a lot of fast food(except Chipotle) but every now & then I crave a fast food fix. A friend & I were hungry late Saturday afternoon. Not really sure of what we wanted, I suggested Char Hut. Its been years since I have been there so I didn’t have high expectations. I was completely surprised at the menu. Even the pickiest eater would have found something to order. They serve salads, burgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, rice & beans, sausage, wings, steak, tuna & tons of side items. And they offer a selection of rolls & pita bread for your burgers & sandwiches. Ordering was a little confusing. You first read the wall menu & then you give your order to the person at the desk. It sort of looks like a hostess stand. Then you go to the cashier & pay for your order. As you wait in line you can see all the food being prepared. Its cooked right in front of you so it cant really cant get any fresher. My friend & I both ordered the jumbo hot dog platters. I ordered mine with onion rings & they were very good. I tried my friends fries & those were terrific. I ordered my hot dog well done & they cooked it perfectly & the girl cooking my hot dog even asked me if it was cooked enough because I ordered it well done. I had mustard & sauerkraut on mine & I felt like I was back in New York The toppings are endless. They have everything from salsa, hot sauce, pickles, relish, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions & mushrooms, yellow mustard, spicy mustard, mayo, ketchup. hot peppers & a few different types of cheeses. I’m sure that whatever you like you will find here. I was excited that they have Birch Beer instead of Root Beer. That was a nice surprise! Actually my entire experience at Char Hut was a nice surprise. The food was delicious & cooked perfectly. The prices are a little higher than most other fast food chains but I am a believer that you get what you pay for. You should give Char Hut a try next time your in the area. The burgers looked totally delicious & I am sure I will have one next time I am craving a juicy burger. But then again, the jumbo hot dog was really great… :) The staff was friendly & parking was not a problem. I would recommend Char Hut without blinking an eye. The food is super yummy & sort of sells itself. Don’t forget to bring extra napkins to your table. Enjoy!
