Charley’s Canine College

I was more than patient with Steve, his wife and their medical issues. I was consistently put on the back burner. I would schedule my day around his training session appointments. Ninety-​percent of the time he would break the appointments ten minutes before he was scheduled to appear. Sorry Steve, I had to speak the truth.

Charley’s Canine College is great if all you want is basic training. I totally agree with Julie. My dog came from a shelter he is affiliated with, she was a biter, of course, he spent the whole first visit showing me his credentials, and getting me to to confide in him, as a way of helping my dog.
He also used one session to throw treats for 1 and ½ hrs. while she barked at him. she was terrified of men., and he was terrified of her biting him.
He did not refer me to a veterinary behaviorist, just said he wanted to do a home check on me, because mabe my baby would do better with someone else. The team of Suzie g. and Steve g. are a big nothing.
please look for qualified help.

A follow up to Charley’s Canine College. As I reported that Steve was with us to the end of Buddy’s life, it went even beyond that. He knew how devastated we were and vowed to find us another dog as our hearts healed. I received a call from Steve 6 weeks later to visit a dog at the Tricounty Humane Society. Against my instincts that not enough time passed, my daughter and I went and fell in love with a 1 year old rescue. The next day my wife visited and we brought Archie to our home. This turns out to be a match made in heaven. Archie is truly Buddy sent and it all came about because of the care and kindness of Steve.
I don’t know why Unilocal refuses to make my reviews recommended. Steve was a complete stranger when I first contracted with him. He proved his professional abilities and showed he will go far above and beyond any expectations. It seems that Unilocal only likes to publish poor ratings to get their ratings. It’s almost like the drive by accident that gets the heads turned. So I challenge Unilocal to be fair and balanced and maybe let a human read the reviews once in a while and stop depending on their slanted software to make the decisions.

If you are looking for a dog trainer who will actually FIX your dog — then, keep on looking and do not expect trainer, Steve Ginsberg, to fix your pup!
After moving to South Florida I was looking for a trainer to help me with my dog that I had rescued a few months prior to my move. I rescued him from a puppymill, so granted, he came with a lot of issues — he was extremely fearful, scared of men, did not trust people and for the most part resistant to any training or obedience that I tried to enstill.
After my initial consultation with the trainer, I was extremely hopeful. He assured me that (a) would be able to help with my dogs problems and (b) that he had worked with other dogs with similar backgrounds and © that it could be done.
I immediately jumped on board, bought the «Guaranteed» Package, where you pay a one time flat rate (which was high) for weekly training sessions until your pup was trained. To top of this «Guaranteed» Package, it also stated that if during the months after the training stopped any problems started again — that Steve, the «trainer», would come back and do additional sessions free of charge to ensure that your dog stayed on track.
Sadly, my dog showed little improvement after his sessions with Steve (about 3 months worth of training) and when I asked if there were additional resources, training techniques, options we could explore — Steve jumped ship and did not respond to my request for continued training/​assistance with training my dog… despite the fact that is what we agreed to in the contract I signed at our initial consultation.
I was less than thrilled with this company and his services. If you have a well adjusted pup who you simply want to teach sit, stay, come — then, maybe he can help… but honestly, most owners can teach their dogs that on their own. If you have a dog with actual issues that needs someone who thinks like a dog and understands their quirks and will come up with creative ways on how to fix them (i.e. Ceasar Milian) — Steve is not your guy.
I have read many books on how to fix my dog, I have tried many techniques and continue to work with him on a daily basis — while I have seen some improvement — I cannot say that any of it has anything to do with his sessions at Charley’s Canine College.
Don’t waste your time or money and find a trainer who will follow through with his work and actually FIX your dog.
