Just as there are food deserts, there are also fuel deserts. This particular area of town is pretty barren when it comes to gas stations. Apart from this 7 – 11 you have to head over and down Westshore, across to Dale Mabry, or down to Kennedy to get fuel. Although it is one of the older, smaller designed locations, with limited pumps, its serves the needs of the warehouse district and Cypress Point park while limiting how far you have to travel. This spot also provides beverages to the folks staying at some of the airport hotels near Boy Scout. Super friendly folks, open late, and your typical gas-station fare. This spot also gained extra love from me since they gave me a small water cup for my dog, without making me pay some outrageous rate for a bottled water. :)

The bathrooms were really clean. The chaser man greeted me with a warm welcome, and he was really nice at check out. I would recommend this 7 – 11

Wish there was a no stars button. Went to get gas the pump wasn’t working went inside and the woman behind the counter rudely said we’re changing shifts it will be a while. Why can’t I pump gas at your shift change? Since it’s tampa and unbearably hot my MIL and I went in while my husband pumped gas. The woman behind the counter accosted a customer by telling him I won’t take your $ 50 I can’t break this and why do you do this. He confusingly said what? She said you did this before you brought a hundred and I had to break it with all my start of shift change. Horrible customer service should not be rewarded.

It’s like 1 in the morning on a Sunday night. I’m tired and need a snack after my delayed flight. I can’t count on the hotel having anything for me, so Unilocal gets me to a 7 – 11. To a stranger at night, this place seems like it’s in a bad part of town. I’ve since been by in the daytime, and it’s fine. I just forgot where I was and when I was there: 1AM on a Sunday night in a commercial section of Tampa. Of course no one’s around. This place was clean with the eau de roach spray stronger than expected. Two guys were hanging Christmas decorations, and two cops stopped in for coffee while I was there, so it was much more wholesome than I originally gave it credit.

Never even walked inside… but I can imagine what ti contains. What makes this a 7-Eleven that I will stop at is that it is the closest gas station to where I stay(the night before the airport).

Corn dogs and Jamaican meat pies. This 7-Eleven is close to my work so I make frequent stops here. The 5 stars are for their consistent availability of corn dogs and Jamaican meat pies. These two delicacies of the Tampa subculture are a rarity in such form. They always have them nice and warm at all hours of the day. The Jamaican meat pies are particularly delicious and spicy. They are like turnovers filled with spicy ground beef. Not quite to Mr. Empanada standards, but yummy nonetheless. You haven’t lived until you’ve had a corn dog and a Jamaican meat pie at 7am. It will build a new lining in your stomach for sure. This 7-Eleven has all the other usual suspects you’d expect. From Lotto to Lunchables to frozen burritos, it has everything the hurried traveler could want or need to satisfy that odd craving. I love eating this stuff. I wish I could do it more often.
