A’propos

On a Tuesday evening we sat, quietly at the Roux’s empty bar for a couple of Sazaracs. Then headed to a table, for dinner. I like to try something different from a new menu, but we’d heard the CharGrilled Oysters were very good. Being a NOLA food scene visitor for 3 – 4 decades, & having lived in NOLA, I felt these Chargrilled Oysters were the absolute best I have ever eaten. Ever.
A half a dozen each, my partner and I proclaimed them better than all the rest! They are Wood Fire Chargrilled, the toast was charred on a wood fired grill, the light scent of the smoke and garlic, the butter, parmesan, slightly burn toast corners. Acme and Felix’s can’t touch these. Those NOLA institutions use a gas flame to ignite their bi-​valves. Char Grilled over a Hot Wood Flame.
We then ordered the Rabbit & Dumplings and the Duck A Poivre entrees’. The Rabbit and Dumplings were delicious, a taste of sherry in the gravy, yum. Now I believe there should have been little more meat in the dish, maybe just, +2oz, as the ratio of sauce to protein was a bit low for a + $ 20 entrée.
Debbie’s Duck A’ Poivre was good, but not great, it had a small cruet of A’Poivre sauce, provided to pour over the seared duck breast, which was sliced and a touch too rare maybe just another thirty seconds to a minute on the fire. The Sauce was tasty, But bearly warm, thus thick and had to be shaken from the little cruet. A touch more black peppercorns would lend to the preparation too.
Service was good, but unenthusiastic, interesting note there are no black peppercorn grinders in the restaurant. Hot sauce, yes, & standard salt and pepper shakers…

Thank You Patty for having a great store with a great selection and a great staff.
It was down to the wire and I needed to get my Aunt a dress for her daughter’s wedding. Kay and Kathy were amazing at helping find the right dress for my Aunt. The girls worked with her and were able to calm my nerves and relieve me the stress of whether we would find the right dress with just a week until the wedding.
They even reassure me that alterations would be done on time.
Kay and Kathy are Miracle Workers!!!
My Aunt was even able to find a purse to finish off the look. I know that my Aunt will look totally stunning and regal at my cousin’s wedding. She looked amazing at the fitting and will be dressed in something that is classy and yet unique.
I am still ecstatic about accomplishing this in just a matter of a couple hours.
Apropos is a definite destination for great clothing that will bring out the unique personality of just about every woman.
