Really bad experience here today. We are in the market for wood floors and are leaning toward laminate because of the low initial cost and short term(8 – 10 year) durability. As soon as we walked in and started looking at the laminate samples, the salesperson approached me and almost immediately began telling me my opinions on flooring were wrong. He gave us a few condescending«lessons» on each type of floor. Aside from being insulting, he was wrong about a lot of stuff, e.g., wood floors hold up to moisture way better than laminate. That’s just not true. We entered the store on a casual fact finding mission and were aggressively sold to in a way that netted out to the following conclusion from the salesperson: if we don’t buy the most expensive flooring available we were dumb and wasting our money. The experience ruined my Sunday and turned me off of Bob’s Carpet Mart forever, which is disappointing because their selection and pricing seemed good.

Oh, the fun and excitement of decorating or redecorating can be absolutely exhausting. After visiting several places in search for flooring, I visited Bob’s. I found the sales people quite knowledgeable and definitely knew their stock. They have a wide variety to choose from. After looking at a few locations, everything you like starts looking the same. This is when the questions of durability, cleaning, cost… become very important. At Bob’s I felt a bit hustled and like I was being pushed into a decision, I was going to have to live with for years. I don’t like places with agressive sales strategies. For the aggressive sales approach and various price points, I don’t see myself return or ever making a purchase from this establishment. What’s a girl to do? Stay away from agressive sales people.

I sent my mom here today to buy to buy Armstrong laminate flooring on sale for .98 sq.ft. She explained to Nick Nickerson that she needed something inexpensive for a low-traffic spare bedroom for an updated look, and walked out with luxury vinyl and all the fixins. I asked why, and she said while it the other was on sale, she wasn’t ready for what the installation entailed ect and the vinyl sale was for Shaw vinyl, she got Armstrong vinyl at a lower price than that sale price. I’m happy with the choice, and called Nick to thank him for helping mum. I’m going with my own installer, so as long as you are educated regarding what you want/need how could you go wrong? There’s a flooring out there for everyone!
