I went recently on a Saturday due to the tradition being that Feijoada is the special on the menu. Feijoada is one of my favorite dishes and with the lack of authentic Brazilian restaurants in the bay area, one must carpe the diem when the opportunity presents itself. The feijoada did not disappoint. The portion was generous as one can expect from a Brazilian joint. There were copious amounts of «carne seca»(portuguese dried beef), «linguiça»(portuguese sausage) and all the bits of pork one would expect in this dish. These would typically be hamhocks and thick pieces of bacon. It was served up with the traditional accompaniments of rice, «couve»(collards sliced chiffonade), orange slices and farofa(yucca/cassava root toasted and then pulverized into a meal and sprinkled over the feijoada… actually brazilians put farofa on everything. I’m sure there is farofa flavored dog food and baby formula in Brazil) Overall everything was great, although I felt it was a bit expensive for what it is. All in all it was $ 20.00 for rice, beans and a bottle of water… It did feed me for 2 days however. Café no Bule is a legit Brazilian luncheonette located on the outskirts of Town n’ Country. This place is NOT a «rodizio» like Texas do Brazil or the now defunct Boizão. If you are looking for men dressed in funny pants, running around with giant skewers of meat to heed your beckon call then this is not the place for you. What you can expect at Café no Bule is more like a typical restaurant you would see at any corner in any city in Brazil.

WONDERFUL! They treat you like family here. Daniel sat down, gave us suggestions. He gave us samples of the caju — cashew juice and passion fruit juice. Him & the two other ladies made sure we had an excellent experience. Talk about going above and beyond!!! We ordered the passion fruit juice first. But I learned something new. I didn’t know cashews are a part of a fruit that is made into a common juice in Brazil. Pretty tasty & different for sure. We tried a coxinha. I have never seen this anywhere. It is a Brazilian street food shaped like a tear drop. It is the size of a baseball, breaded, & filled with shredded chicken and cheese. Yum! We ordered the picanha & steak and eggs served with fried plaintains, rice and beans, salad(I subbed it instead of rice) & farofa(Brazilian flour like side IMO resembles saw dust). The picanha has more flavor because it is thicker and juicier. Everything was excellent. There are a handful of dessert offerings which we were too full to try like a Yucca cake and flan. They are open from 8 – 5 on Saturdays & during the week until 7, so get there early for lunch. You will be full all day. They also have a lunch buffet if you want to sample everything. Café No Bule is a perfect example of an all around great experience. Great service with a personal touch, delicious food, & a nice fresh atmosphere.

NOTE: THISPLACEISUNDERNEWMANAGEMENT. The last time I was here was a year ago. The place has been completely remodeled and looks fantastic! I ordered a guaraná and a bife a cavalo. It was delicious and at an extremely reasonable price for the large amount of food that I got. The new owners are wonderful people and very friendly. They menu is great and I will be coming back again until I head back to NYC. Well done!

Café no Bule is a great little family-run Brazilian restaurant located in a culturally-diverse area of Waters Avenue to the west of Dale Mabry. The café restaurant is tucked next door to a small Brazilian market in the middle of a strip mall on the south side of Waters Avenue. From the road, watch for the signage out front with the Brazilian flag, and turn in there(right near Good Time Charlie’s) to find Café no Bule and the adjacent Bem Brasil market. Now I confess that my knowledge of the Portuguese language is limited to just a few basic words like«Hi», «Please» and«Thank you», but I do a darn good job of pointing to items on the menu and saying«por favor» with a big smile on my face. Being the only gringo in a small ethnic restaurant can feel a bit intimidating, but I’ve found that if you make an effort to say Hi and respect their culture that people will always be glad to answer your questions and to help you place your order. With my server’s assistance I ordered one of their delicious pasties(that would be a fried meat pastry, and not something that a stripper wears) while I waited for my steak sandwich. The beef pastie was filled with spiced ground beef packed into a popover-style of pastry dough, and then deep fried. It was very similar to an empanada from other cultures. The result was very delicious, and a nice little appetizer. Next up was their fantastic steak sandwich which was skirt steak, provolone cheese, and grilled onions on a loaf of bread which is then pressed like a panini sandwich and served with shoestring French fries. Very flavorful, and a lot of food. I had a great time watching Brazilian soap operas on the big screen TV in the dining room while enjoying my lunch. It was also interesting to see the wide variety of dishes being ordered by the other diners who clearly knew a lot more about the items on the menu. I played it safe with the steak sandwich, and was very pleased with my choice, but next time I’d like to try some of their traditional luncheon specials which include a wider variety of steak, chicken, and seafood dishes served with rice and beans, plantains, and other sides. One item which caught my eye was called Feijoada, which is listed as the National dish of Brazil. According to the menu this is a stew made with rice, black beans, pork meat, cabbage and orange. I’d like to give that a try on a return visit. Café no Bule has a display case filled with desserts and a wide selection of meat pastry appetizers, and the market next door showcases a lot of Brazilian products which were all new to me. Super friendly people, extremely affordable, and a lot of delicious food!

food is very over priced for what you are getting. The Green sides weren’t even seasoned, or salted. The famous Brazilian beans dish had little flavor, no herbs, seasoning or spices. The prices are compared to higher quality restaurants. Not many Brazilian restaurants around, I am Brazilian and I despise that this restaurant give the Brazilian food a bad rep. We are known to have FLAVORS in our foods. Not just beans and meat with out anything and our sides are normally flavorful. If you eat here know this is not how Traditional Brazilians eat.

This place is awesome. I struggled not giving it 5 stars, but I wouldn’t want to raise the expectation levels too high. I shot up to Café No Bule with no idea what I was to get into. I just wanted to watch Brasil-Italia and have a Guaraná Antarctica. I arrived and was greeted very warmly by the gentleman who I’m guessing owns the place, and then an equally nice lady. The gentleman and I quickly burned through my semi-rehearsed, scarcely-recollected Portuguese, I grabbed a drink and before I knew it we were standing in front of the big flatscreen TV excitedly announcing starting line ups in tandem(delivering the names with my best fakie Brasilian accent). It was pretty sweet watching the match from a satellite Brasilian channel. Despite being a outsider, I felt at home here. just hanging, no pressure… as the regulars came in and out. Throughout the whole place not a word of English was spoken until some random lady finally inquired my nationality. I eventually mustered up the courage to step up to the counter and order the X Bife(steak sandwich) and contented myself to another Guaraná. The sandwich was delicious, with a ton of fries on the side, which were also very good. All the while I was enjoying the friendly, relaxed vibe of the place. Before I knew it it was time to go and I had found exactly what I was looking for. If you hold an interest in anything Brasil, or have a longing for some Brasilian dry goods or candy, this is surely the place to check out. I’ll most definitely be back soon.

Why 4 stars? Because it’s a completely different way to experience Brazilian. — — — The only times I’ve ever eaten Brazilian food are at those steakhouses that bring by the various steaks until the point that you are having the meat sweats. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy consuming the maximum amount of beef my body can handle until it starts rejecting itself, but it’s also a decision that ends up ruining you for the next 48 hours. I wanted to check out Café No Bule for quite some time since discovering it on Unilocal, and I was recently able to finally make my way there. I had fairly low expectations when I arrived because of the limited, small menu. I asked for a recommendation, and after having a conversation in broken English for a few minutes, I eventually figured out he was telling me that the steak sandwich is their specialty. So I obeyed the man, and had a seat while I enjoyed some Brazilian television. I don’t speak a lick of Portuguese, but I felt like the acting was brilliant. The actress who played Daniela was able to convey a character that was both dark, yet vulnerable. And don’t get me started on Anthony — absolutely brilliant job of creating a world where the audience roots for the bad guy. As if the TV wasn’t enough entertainment for me, eventually the food came! The steak sandwich was very hearty and very juicy… not to mention cheap! I couldn’t have been happier and more pleasantly surprised. I recommend this spot to anyone seeking Brazilian cuisine, but not wanting to gain 20 lbs in one sitting.

This is a hidden gem(if you are Brazilian or enjoy Brazilian food). When you come in, you are most likely going to be greeted in Portuguese. This«restaurant» serves a small Brazilian community in the area. Don’t expect Texas de Brazil, this is a family owned joint. They serve what Brazilians are really used to having for lunch, which is usually rice, beans, accompanied by either french fries, or fried yuca, side of veggies, and and a meat. If you don’t feel like having a Brazilian style lunch, they also serve sandwiches and burgers, Brazilian style snacks like empanadas, coxinhas, pasteis(you probably don’t know what they are… but trust me, they are delicious). They also have Brazilian grocery items like cheese bread, and panetone. Highly recommend the Brazilian burger X-Tudo. It has your usual patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, but they also have ham, corn, potato sticks and even a chicken breast if you would like. If you are having the traditional lunch, you may be able to split one between two people and hey are all delicious. I haven’t been for feijoada Saturdays but I will soon. Oh yeah try the Caju Juice.

I spent 2 months in Brazil and gawds the food was delicious… so when I stumbled across this little place(quite by accident) I had to pop in and try it out. OHYES. They do feijoada on Saturdays! This traditional Brazilian mid day meal is something to try — but, I was there on a Tuesday and so — I did the talipia filet(this would probably be cod in Brazil, but ya gotta go with the local fish) Meal: Big filet + rice(a huge serving) + grilled onions + beans + 2 eggs = #omgiamsofull… 8.99. Yep. Oh, and farofa on the table. Yes indeedy. My friend had the bistec which I tried and it was also totally spot on. They carry Guaraná Antarctica in store and also next door at Bem Brasil — owned by the same family. I’ll be back. Soon. Next time: The Bacalhau!
