The doctors are wonderful. The nurses, on the 5th floor Cardiac wing, not so much. They hired a bunch of clueless nurses from India that don’t speak or understand English, and never follow up on anything you ask them to do. One nurse there named Jessie, I asked that two tests be done for my husband while he was A patient there for ten days. Every single morning her response was(in a voice that sounded like Apu from the TV show«The Simpsons,») «This is the first I am hearing of this, I will ask de Doctor.» She never did bother to ask. I guess it was too much like work. The night nurse came in, and her English(if you want to call it that,) was even worse. She kept asking my husband«Wuz yer dada burr?» After about 5x of hearing this, he loudly asks me «WTF is she saying??» I then realized that the garbled message was supposed to be «What is your date of birth.» I told her that if any further communication is needed to please bring a translator with her. Cardiac ICU on the third floor, needs to take a refresher course on Patients Rights and listening skills. Thank God for the Nurse Manager, Vicky who was very compassionate and helpful. His day nurse, Teki was very pigheaded, didn’t listen to or respect his concerns, kept calling him by the wrong name, even though I corrected her numerous times, and his night nurse(I think named Rebecca,) wasn’t much better, she didn’t respect his dignity/privacy at all, made him feel less than human. Hopefully he will be moved out of there and into a room today. One can only hope.
